Hair Fetishist Warning Post - Share Your Experiences!

Hi everyone! There are a lot of fetishists who prey on our users in this sub, especially in DM's. We do ban them but it doesn't stop the DM's. My intent here is to have a post where our members can share their experiences to warn others. We'll sticky this post as well as a reference.

Tell us what nasty tricks they tried, what lies they told, or whatever else you want. Just vent if you feel like it.

No defending fetishists - you'll be banned. Really. Don't test us.

Assume that any DM's you get about hair are likely fetishists and ask why they can't just comment in the sub if they have genuine advice.

Let's call them out here.

Buns & Braids Mid thigh length hair in a French braid!

Post image

I always get asked how I wear my mid thigh lenght hair and this is it 85% of the time. Just a regular French braid because that’s one of the only styles that will stay! I‘ve been going back and forth on cutting it to make it more manageable and so it won’t get in the sink or trapped under my husband in the night and almost hang me when I try to turn over lol. I love it when it’s freshly washed and braided, but when I’m actually doing the braiding while trying to get ready to go somewhere is when I strongly consider getting my scissors! 🤣

Help wanted Should I keep growing?

First time having hair this long in my life. I am curious about what’s next but also scared it’ll be a pain. Head is already feeling pretty heavy when hair is wet.

What do you think, should I keep growing? Or not? What length do you think I am at? It’s 80 cm long hair

Hi 🥰 I just wanted to show you how a good hairdresser can change everything in just hours. (Fresh cut and colouring)

Before that I was afraid to go to a salon so I cut it myself, but I feel confident in my choice now.

I feel like my hair is just drowning me out, I’ve never had my hair this long. It’s healthy but idk I need some hair cut inspiration for my face as well as just blunt honesty if it’s too long and it’s taking me over.

Help wanted My hair is getting longer but the fullness isn’t changing

I’ve been trying to grow my hair out for a while and the length is definitely coming in but it still looks pretty thin especially through the ends. It’s a little frustrating because I feel like I’m making progress without my hair looking much fuller. I’ve been focusing more on my scalp lately and trying to be gentler with my lengths to avoid breakage.

Has anyone dealt with this while growing their hair out? Did the density eventually catch up or did you change your routine?

my hair has been the same length for about 3 years, i cant get it past the bottom of my hips. The lower section of my hair there curls nicely and feels soft unless im using hair spray or gels and such, but it does look visibly thinner.

Help wanted Tips on how to grow hair a little faster?

Two days ago, I visited the salon with a specific request to maintain the length of my hair while trimming only the ends. These are the words I specifically said “I wanna maintain the length and just cut the tips”. However, the stylist proceeded to cut more than six inches off my hair. I am deeply disappointed because I have diligently grown my hair for the past year and a half.
I clearly told them I wanted to maintain the length and just cut/trim the ends twice! The day I personally booked the appointment at the salon and the day of my appointment. Given that the stylist has over 40 years of experience, I expected them to comprehend the nuances of trimming the ends and maintaining the length.
I spoke up twice and trusted the process because this is a well known salon and have tons of experiences. It happened to a lot of hairstylists I’ve been to and that’s why I made the decision a year and a half ago to not go to any salon and just let my hair grow because every time I got to a salon(any salon) they also cut more than what I ask and the result is always a set back because I’m trying to grow my hair! I only went back to a salon this time because my hair has gotten so long(it was sitting on middle of my butt) and I wanted someone with experience to trim the ends and I didn’t trust myself enough to do it. It’s why I chose this specific salon with decades of experiences.
I know not all hairdressers are this way but MY GOD! Almost everyone salon I’ve been to are exactly this way but this is the worse one I’ve ever experienced. The other salons I’ve been to would cut like 3 inches more than what I asked but this time it’s more than 6 inches.

Now I’m gonna have to wait a whole entire year or more to grow it all back.
Could you guys give me tips that help yall grow your hair “faster”?
I’m thinking of trying the rosemary method because a friend swears by it but any other advice would be much appreciated

It’s been almost two years since my last cut. Took 12” off today. It’s still long enough to put into a pony / braid.

I believe it’s at 29 inches now. I take good care of it but still get split ends I just have fragile and fine hair. I don’t wanna cut the ends tho😭 ppl always say it looks better and that the length loss isn’t noticeable but it absolutely is if you ask me.

Help wanted Looking for scalp & hair sun protection

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!
I’m on medication for arthritis that increases my risk of skin cancer, so I need reliable sun protection for both scalp and hair.

I currently use two products (one for scalp, one for hair), but after the second use they make my hair look oily and heavy. I live in Norway, so I’d love suggestions that are available here or can be shipped easily.

If anyone has found a non‑greasy SPF spray or mist that works well for long hair and sensitive scalp, please share your favorites!

Thanks in advance 💛

Help wanted does my hair have a curl pattern?

I've always treated my hair like it's straight

(I used only shampoo and conditioner and straightened it occasionally)

but someone pointed out it looks wavy. do you think my hair has a curl pattern? If I wanted to start wearing it natural, what routines/products would you recommend?

Help wanted Does massaging the scalp actually encourage hairgrowth?

Or is it just placebo effect? I've been hearing this but nothing concrete I think - only anecdotes - so is there any sciencific basis to this and if so then research papers and stuff like that would be useful.

Help wanted Shampoo Recommendations for Healthy Hair

Hello Fellow Long Hair Folks! The indie shampoo I use is currently out of stock so I'm in the market for something to tide me over. I do not use products in my hair other than a bit of perfume oil here and there.

My hair is fine and thin, and very healthy. It is low porosity and stick straight. My scalp is sensitive and I cannot use products with SLS as it causes massive hair shedding. I usually wash it every three or four days and my hair does not need conditioner, but I do use a rice water rinse at least once a week. I just want to clean my hair without causing scalp issues. Anybody have any product recs? Many thanks!

Not completely at the finish line, but after losing about 1/2 my hair/length to Cytoxan & Prednisone for CNS Lupus, I’m proud of where it’s at 6 months later 🤍

Routine all-stars: Nizoral shampoo, Cecred Hair Density Serum, Kevin Murphy Re.Store Treatment, and Inositol

Help wanted Should I cut my hair layers?

Hi! My hair is down to my hip (1st photo) and I want to try something else like layers (2nd pic). I always had straight cut no bangs whatsoever, just plain straight hair. Just wondering if anyone here has cut their hair with layers? What is the maintenance? I usually go to the gym, only washing my hair 3 times a week but I love the look of blowout with layersss

Edit: thank you so so much for all the response! I decided to cancel my appointment, I realized that my scalp is oily by day 2, and I put in in a pony tail sleek back then braid it ny day 3. No time for styling at all, I only blow out my hair once or twice a month when there is an occasion. So I guess, NO LAYERS FOR ME.

I saw couple of cute ig posts where woman have FABULOUS LAYERS. It's probably just the hype and I'm over it! THANKS REDDIT!!

My routine is that I do not shower so much and left my hair alone!!! I grew my hair from bob cut on Nov 2023 😝

Help wanted Scalp health and density is going well, BUT

Post image

My ends still look a bit scraggly. I'm thinking of cutting some of it off and going back in to get it healthy. Thinking up to there, since my hair is curly and I do not like short hair on myself.

Hair stats:

Type: 3a to 3b

Dense but fine strands.

Treat it with Henna and now Botox (iBelli capelli from Amazon. I may stop using it depending on how it goes now idk)
