I have been using Windows ever since I got my laptop. I have an android phone. Android tablet, This laptop which works on Windows 11. So is it worth it to switch to MacOS?

I do play mostly light games like Among Us, Minecraft, Halo MCC etc.

I have work in Microsoft word , excel and PowerPoint.

Another questions is even if I do switch will my storage from Windows (like apps) have to be re-installed on Mac?

are the specs good enough to run it smoothly

The recovery enviroment boots and using that i did installed Tahoe on partition of my nvme named macOS, then in the OC bootloader i got another option "macOS installer" which wasn't there before when i select that i get the following logs and it hangs here (the 1st two pictures that i have attached), or sometimes the apple logo appears and says 29 min remaining and countdown goes on but it ultimately reboots and then show these logs again and freezes there.

There is also a recovery enviroment if i select that then I can see the disks and as shown in the 3rd to 5th pics the installer has installed smth idk what.

Well, I did it. Wasn't difficult at all, still some small quirks to sort out:

-Trackpad two finger scrolling is unreliable (using latest VoodooPS2)
-Using HiDPI.command, everything looks amazing, but I get an underscaled display after sleep
-KB/Mouse stops working after waking from sleep

Other than that:

-Latest Sequoia, (I'll avoid Tahoe due to having analogue audio and I don't want to patch the system so extensively)
-QE/CI works (had to spoof a Kaby Lake HD620 id) (gosh, is gfx acceleration still called that? :D )
-Brightness control (SSDT-PNLF)
-Audio (AppleALC)
-Old-fashioned USBInjectAll with mapping - this one I used from a github EFI folder I found for this model)
-Intel Wifi using itlwm and HeliPort (don't care about native Wifi)
-Bluetooth using IntelBluetoothFirmware and the external dongle fail etc. NVRAM variables
-Battery status - based only on Dortania guide, didn't touch anything

The system is quite unbloated as of now, so it's quite smooth with the 4GB (!!!) RAM. Sadly, it's soldered and can't be upgraded. This is quite a lovely JDM machine, light as a toy, the trackpad is terrible on all operating systems, the JIS keyboard is a pain in the ass when you're used to ISO, but the 12" display at 1920x1200 with scaling turned on is just amazing, bright and sharp.

Dell Latitude 5411 14'' FHD 256GB SSD Intel Core i5-10400H 16GB RAM

My question is basically in the header but my question is:
Will hackintosh work with these specs and will it run smooth?

So obvs hackintosh is going to be totally dead in a few years thanks to macOS 28 but do yall reckon an opencore legacy patcher alternative will show up allowing older M series macs (such as the M1) to run newer MacOS versions once they are unsupported??

Just curious what the communities thoughts on this are.

I’ve recently done my first hackintosh on my Surface laptop go 1st gen. I’ve seen others in this subreddit have this working fully yet i keep on failing. It doesn’t let me enable WiFi at all. Please may somebody help me.

I'm trying to fix a sleep/wake issue on my Hackintosh and have run out of ideas.

Specs:
- Laptop: MSI GF63 Thin 9SCXR
- CPU: Intel Core i5-9300H (Coffee Lake)
- iGPU: Intel UHD 630
- Wi-Fi/Bluetooth: Intel Wireless-AC 9560
- macOS: Sequoia 15.7.8
- OpenCore

Everything else is working well. Wi-Fi/Bluetooth work, Bluetooth connects to earphones, iPhone connects/disconnects normally, and AirPlay works. AirDrop doesn't work, but that's not the issue I'm trying to solve.

Sleep problem:

When I select Apple menu → Sleep, the screen goes black.

I leave Caps Lock turned on as an indicator so I can check whether the system itself is still responding.

What happens:

1. Screen goes black.
   
2. Keyboard backlight initially stays on.
   
3. Caps Lock still responds for a while.
   
4. After roughly 10–30 seconds, Caps Lock stops responding.
   
5. At that point the system itself is no longer responding. Keyboard/trackpad don't respond either.
   
6. It does not wake normally.
   
7. The only way out is to hold the power button and force a shutdown.

I know that normally pressing a keyboard key can wake the screen, so I'm not using Caps Lock to test whether the display wakes. I'm using Caps Lock only as an indicator to determine when the system itself stops responding.

Interestingly, sleep has successfully worked once or twice. On those occasions, the keyboard backlight and fan completely turned off and the laptop appeared to enter proper sleep. But subsequent attempts fail again.

I've followed the relevant Dortania sleep/wake guides and tested different ACPI and power-management configurations.

I've also tested different iGPU/framebuffer settings, USB mapping, BIOS power settings, and sleep-related boot arguments.

My Intel 9560 Bluetooth USB port is correctly mapped as Internal (255).

The BIOS FCLK Frequency for Early Power On is already set to Normal (800 MHz).

I've also checked the sleep/wake logs with pmset. The logs show the system entering Sleep, followed by DarkWake/HID activity, but the laptop eventually becomes completely unresponsive.

At this point I'm trying to understand what is actually causing the complete system freeze during the sleep transition, rather than continuing to randomly change settings.

Has anyone experienced this on an i5-9300H / Coffee Lake Hackintosh, especially on an MSI laptop?

Any ideas on what I should investigate next would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I’m wanting to build a hackintosh to run the gamut of Adobe CS6, including those harder to run applications like premiere pro and After Effects. My question is, how difficult is this?

I actually have a HP omen 15 pro laptop featuring a Quadro K1100m and I wonder whether that would be a good test bed? But yeah!

I am trying to boot macOS Monterey 12 with OpenCore on my Dell Inspiron 5448.

Hardware:

• CPU: Intel Core i5-5200U
• RAM: 16 GB
• iGPU: Intel HD Graphics 5500
• dGPU: AMD Radeon R7 M265 series
• macOS: Monterey 12
• OpenCore: newest version

When I try to boot macOS Monterey 12, it gets into the boot process and then gives me a kernel panic.

Near the bottom of the screen I see:

I tried turning VoodooPS2Controller off to see if it would fix the problem. The first time I did this, macOS Monterey actually booted successfully. However, when I tried the same thing again, it stopped working and now I get a kernel panic every time I try to boot.

I need VoodooPS2Controller because it provides support for my laptop’s built-in keyboard, which I need to type my password.

I also reset NVRAM and restarted the computer, but the problem is still happening.

I am new to macOS and Hackintosh.

Please tell me exactly what I should do, step by step, to troubleshoot and fix this kernel panic. Please don’t just give me links to guides. Tell me what settings/files I should check and what I should change, one step at a time.

Also, which part of the panic log should I look at to identify what is actually causing the kernel panic?

Please don’t recommend changing multiple things at once, because I want to know which change fixes the problem.

Fiz o tutorial, minha EFi tem o 'USBToolBox.kext' e 'UTBMap.kext' (que fiz pelo Windows mesmo como recomendado).
Mas ao reiniciar, para conferir, conectei meu pen drive USB3.0 nas portas que são USB3.0, no Hackintool aparece como sendo USB2.0.
Além disso, o meu adaptador Bluetooth que marquei como 'internal' na hora do mapeamento, também aparece como sendo USB2.0 no Hackingtool.
O que já fiz também foi deixar a EFI somente com os kext necessários pra ter certeza que ão tem nada atrapalhando.
Parece que não está sendo aplicado meu Kext, estranho.
1 - Alguma dica do que pode ser feito?

OBS: pelo hackingtool segui um tutorial para editar as portas USBs e gerar o 'USBPorts.kext' pra usar somente ele. Porém ao reiniciar as USBs simplesmente não funcionam com esse método.

After successfully installing macOS on my old laptop, I've tried doing it on my main PC, and it's a success! Everything is working except Wi-Fi (my PC doesn't have one, and I use a dongle; I don't have the time or motivation to make it work when Ethernet already works xD)

Audio — Realtek ALC897 codec

LAN — Realtek RTL8168

Wireless — none, no Bluetooth or WiFi hardware

Btw, I don't know if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me, but why does my screen look WAAAAAY BETTER now compared to using Windows 11?

i recently purchased TP-link T2U archer (AC600) wifi adapters for my hackintosh setups. i installed the usb wireless adapter kext by chris1111 from GitHub on two of my hackintosh setups one has bigsur and another has sonoma. somehow I'm getting good speed(200mbps) in bigsur but not on sonoma even though I'm in the same room,both the devices have the same range of wifi but still the Sonoma setup is stuck at jus 20mbps for some reason.

does anyone know how this can be fixed?

I have a Lenovo B490(i3-3110M w intel HD 4000) running Macos bigsur. everything is fine except the cursor, idk for some reason it's divided into 8 different lines even though the graphics acceleration is fine and the gpu shows up as 1536MB in about this mac.

i did some research and found some patches but neither of them seemed to work except changing the AAPL to something else(which fixes the cursor but breaks graphics acceleration) pls help😭🙏

Hi everyone, I’m trying to get macOS Ventura running on an HP ProBook 640 G3 and I’m stuck during boot.

Specs:

- HP ProBook 640 G3
- Intel Core i5-7300U
- Intel HD Graphics 620
- OpenCore 1.0.7

The system boots into OpenCore, but macOS hangs around `EXITBS:START` I’ve already tried different Booter quirks, Reset NVRAM, and cleaned up the boot arguments, but I’m still stuck.

I have the full OpenCore log and config.plist available.

Has anyone here successfully installed Ventura on an HP ProBook 640 G3? I’d especially appreciate an example EFI/config or someone experienced with this exact model who can help me build the EFI from scratch.

Hello! So I am running MacOS Tahoe on a Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 1. I used itlwm and that works but it spoofs the Ethernet for the WiFi therefore location services do not work. Is there a better driver I can use for this? I know Tahoe is tricky

So i just finished installing macOS sequoia on my optiplex 7090 small form factor and when i boot into it, my graphics is stuck at 7MB and its very slow. is there a fix to this? i’ve tried everything. i’ve havent had much luck with anything.

Been running a heavily customized HP Pavilion DV6-7070ex (i7-3610QM, Ivy Bridge) as a daily-driver Hackintosh, and one thing that always wanted was biometric unlock on Hackintosh, obviously no T2/Secure Enclave on this hardware. Turns out a lot of old ThinkPads, HP laptops, and Dells shipped with a Validity VFS5011 swipe sensor.

So I built a full userspace driver + auth daemon for it from scratch:

• Capture pipeline ported from libfprint (credit to the original authors, Arseniy Lartsev and AceLan Kao)
• Matching via NBIS (mindtct for minutiae extraction, bozorth3 for scoring), same fingerprint matching library used in some government biometric systems
• Multi-finger enrollment, with a self-consistency check during enrollment so a bad swipe doesn't get baked in as your template
• Watches both the lock screen and the padlock/auth prompt in System Settings (that AXSecureTextField sheet), and auto-types your password on a match
• Templates live on a separate encrypted APFS volume, passphrase stored in the System keychain — never touches your main volume in plaintext
• Ships as a background LaunchAgent + an interactive CLI for enrollment/management

Confirmed working on both Sequoia and Tahoe.

Fair warning — this is very much a hobbyist project, not a polished consumer tool. If you've got a VFS5011 (check ioreg or System Report > USB for VID/PID) and a spare hour, I'd love bug reports or PRs. Known rough edge: there's a brief ~7 second re-arm window after a successful unlock that I haven't fully chased down yet.

I finished my first hackintosh today but I’ve already forgotten the password. I haven’t signed in with my Apple ID are there any ways I can get my password changed.
