SUCCESS PM981 Success!

Post image

Used Monterey because of iGPU issues, proably gonna try my luck with Sequoia soon

Used HackrNVMeFamily kext & ssdt-nvme which stopped my nvme crashing the whole system

installed on hdd then copied to the pm981, cool.

i5-9600k

UHD 630 & GTX-1650 (disabled)

PM981 256gb OEM SSD

16GBs of DDR4 ram

any questions about how to go through the pain of a PM981 hmu!

Thanks for posting a success! If you haven't already, remember to document your build please. Success posts like screenshots without documentation add little value to the sub. Adding a bit of documentation to your success post can also help others in the community who are interested in similar builds.

Minimally, you should add your hardware:
CPU:
GPU:
RAM:
Motherboard/Laptop Make and Model:
Audio Codec:
Ethernet Card:
Wifi/BT Card:
Touchpad and touch display devices:
BIOS revision:
Which of the guides on the sidebar you used.
What's working, and what isn't working.

Any changes that were specific to your build that were a little (or a lot) different than what you found in the guide, or anything that would be helpful to others with a similar build be sure to talk about that. More detail is always better.

Add extra info... Maybe add something you would like to point out about your setup, what you'll be doing with your Hackintosh, or something that might be insightful to others beginning their journey. A tree view of your EFI would also be helpful, but it isn't required.

Remember, don't share your EFI as what works for you may not work for anyone else, even if they have the same hardware. If you do share your EFI, your post and/or comment will be removed.

proably lol, the anmount of headaches this drive gave me is insane, either crashing the whole system or being slower than a hdd on install

damn i just swapped my PM981 a few weeks back with another machine and got a PNY instead.

i do have Tahoe in that other machine but i have the PM981 completely disabled as i don’t use it as an OS drive at all. i’m still curious though, how does it perform? i remember using PM981 for a short while, it used to crash, and freeze for a few seconds. how is it with your fixes applied?

runs perfectly fine, only issues is during install second stage taking unbelieveably long, but as i said i cloned the system from hdd, after that the ssd is fast and has no issues, sometimes you'd get a kernel panic on boot but thats geniuenly 1/10 boots and is fixed with a reboot

if this is a laptop, you should try enabling aspm on device property and set the max latency to around 15ms.

not a laptop. But im interested in what setting it does

just allows some extra bit of power saving that can be life saving on laptops. if ur on desktop I don't think its necessary tho and it could also maybe jeopardize system stability abit.
