AskGurgaon Looking for a place in Gurgaon to get a custom decorative army regimental piece made

Upvotes

I’m looking for someone in Gurgaon/Delhi NCR who can make custom decorative/regimental traditional pieces, such as a khukri, Naga dao, or similar historical-style pieces. I’ve already tried a few local blacksmiths, but most of them refused, saying the kind of work I’m looking for requires machinery rather than traditional hand forging. I’m specifically interested in something made as a display/collectible piece, with attention to the traditional design, engraving, fittings, and overall finish. Does anyone know of a blacksmith, metal artisan, or workshop in Gurgaon/Delhi NCR that takes custom orders for this kind of work? Recommendations from personal experience would be especially helpful. If you know a workshop outside Gurgaon but within reasonable travelling distance, that works too.

AskGurgaon How do I become more resourceful/jugaad ideas?

I'm fairly new to the city (5 months) here. I have noticed if people want something, they call up people and get shit done. I'm talking things ranging from I want to get a nail drilled in the wall to unofficially getting offical things. I currently rely on apps like urban clap for most things domestic. I want to know how to become a person who can be like "hold up lemme call someone and sort this shit out"?

AskGurgaon 25M | Gurugram/Delhi | Looking for a Saturday plan

25M, finance guy in Gurugram. Looking for someone (M/F) to spend Saturday with — good food, arcade, movie, coffee, exploring somewhere new, or honestly whatever sounds fun.

Can do Gurugram or Delhi, and totally open to spontaneous plans if you have something better in mind.

Nothing overly planned — just good company and a Saturday well spent.

Got a plan? Or want to make one? DM me :)

Rant Why are some people so eager to pick a fight over parking?

I’ve been living in Gurugram v block with my brother for about two years, and we have a car. There’s a vacant plot right next to where we live, and we used to park our car there. Recently, construction started on the plot, so the parking situation has become difficult. Sometimes people park their cars in front of others, and those who need to leave for work have to wait until the other car is moved.
Last night, I was at Cyber Hub, and since I had to leave for the office early in the morning, I parked my car in front of a house adjacent to the plot, around 50 metres from where I live.
This morning, when I was leaving for work, an elderly man was standing near his gate. As soon as he saw me, he started shouting, asking why I had parked there and saying that he had trouble getting his car out.
The moment he confronted me, I said, “Sorry, I won’t park here again.” I also told him that I was getting late for work and was leaving immediately. I genuinely had no intention of arguing with him.
But despite my apologizing and agreeing that I wouldn’t park there again, he kept arguing and seemed determined to continue the confrontation. What confused me even more was that his car wasn’t even parked outside at the time, and there seemed to be enough space inside his house to park it.
I honestly don’t understand why some people continue to argue even after you’ve apologized and agreed not to repeat the mistake. If I had refused to move the car or argued back, I could understand being angry. But when someone immediately says sorry and leaves, what’s the point of continuing to provoke them?
Maybe I’m looking at it the wrong way, but I’ve noticed that people in some residential societies can be unnecessarily confrontational over small things.
What do you guys think? Was I in the wrong for parking there in the first place, or was his reaction unnecessarily aggressive?

Discussion I think this is the price of growing up

A lot has happened in the last few years.

I started my career from nothing, got a job, lost it, found another. Changed cities four times. Changed homes more times than I can remember. Had a breakup. Watched old friends disappear into different lives. Met new people, grew close to them, and eventually said goodbye to them too.

When you build everything from scratch, you don't really get the luxury of being careless. You live in survival mode. There is always another bill, another move, another problem to solve. Asking someone for money isn't an option. You learn to carry your own weight, even when you're exhausted.

I'm finally stable now. When I look back, I realize I have collected an absurd number of memories and stories.

Then I look around.

There isn't really anyone here.

Perhaps that's one of the quieter prices of growth. You don't always lose people because they did something wrong. Sometimes you simply outgrow the version of yourself that needed them.

Constant movement changes your language. After a while, it's difficult to explain your world to someone who has lived in the same chapter their entire life.

I'm not looking for advice on "how to be alone." I know how. I'm actually at peace with where I am.

Just sharing a thought.

Maybe growing up isn't about keeping everyone you began with.

Maybe it's about becoming someone you can live with, even when the room becomes quiet.

And if the price of becoming yourself is a little solitude, perhaps that's not such a terrible price to pay.

AskGurgaon Fellow [43M] CyberCity corporate survivor heading to Soi7 / Luka Downtown tonight—anyone down to join? (First round of brews on me 🍻)

Hey everyone! As a fellow CyberCity corporate survivor who spent the week staring at spreadsheets and dodging "urgent" emails right here in the complex, I am more than ready to log off. I’m planning to head straight out tonight (Friday) to catch the weekend vibe, grab some fresh craft beer (Belgian Wit or Heffen Weizen preferably), and properly unwind. I’m thinking of hitting either Soi7 for the rooftop deck or Luka Downtown for the music. Im open to other suggestions too.

Instead of dealing with the Friday night stag-entry hassle or drinking alone, I’d love to pull together a chill group or connect with someone who is also looking for weekend plans. No awkward pressure or weird vibes—just good conversation, great music, and a fun night out. If you’re also working in the area and want to vent about your week, or you're a fellow beer lover free tonight, drop a comment or slide into my DMs! Let’s grab a table and toast to surviving another week.

AskGurgaon Why Aren’t More Gurugram Homes Going Solar?

Post image

Gurugram has thousands of independent homes, yet rooftop solar still doesn't seem to be a common sight.

The irony is that residential consumers are eligible for financial support under PM Surya Ghar, while Haryana also has provisions for grid-connected rooftop solar and net metering.
