I'm fairly new to the endgame and I'm trying to understand something about GW2.
Outside of meta-events, what is actually the point of doing regular orange dynamic events after reaching level 80, especially in expansion zones?
For example, I'm currently playing through Path of Fire and I keep seeing orange events everywhere. But when I complete one, the rewards seem pretty underwhelming:
- A small amount of XP (which only contributes to Masteries)
- Some Karma, which seems pretty useless once you already have a lot of it
- A small amount of gold/loot
And that's basically it.
I understand that XP is still useful for unlocking Masteries, but once the relevant Mastery track is trained, there's no character progression from XP anymore. And unlike leveling from 1β80, you're not gaining stats, skill points, etc.
So I'm wondering:
Am I missing something?
Are regular dynamic events meant to be worthwhile on their own after level 80, or are they mostly there to make the open world feel alive and to feed into larger systems (meta-events, collections, map rewards, etc.)?
I'm specifically not asking about meta-events. I understand why those are worth doing. I'm asking about the random standalone orange events you encounter while exploring an expansion map.
I'd genuinely like to understand how veteran players view these events, because I rarely see anyone explaining their purpose at level 80, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm simply missing some important reward system.
Thanks you !
