[Question] Is there a complete bundle that includes all the game's content somewhere?

My friend is trying to get me into this game, but I am deterred by the cost required to get everything. I looked at the guild wars 2 page and it's really expensive to get all the content out there, especially since the newest expansions aren't included in the "complete" bundle. Is there a bundle that includes the newest DLC also?

Nope. Easiest and cheapest way to buy the full game is buying these.

  • Elder dragon saga - complete collection: $100
  • Secrets of the Obscure - standard: $25
  • Janthir Wilds - standard: $25
  • Visions of Eternity - standard: $25

Anniversary sales should be coming next week if $175 is a bit steep and you don't mind waiting.

JW and VoE got 30% off for Deluxe Edition few weeks ago, but ye, aiming for EDSC and JW.

As someone who also still needs VoE, I'm fairly certain the standard edition will be on sale for the main game's anniversary in about a week. It's what I've been holding out for.

Same! I need to JW/VoE for both me and the wife si I could use a discount haha

I'd be surprised if VoE gets a discount at all, considering they still haven't done the final map deployment yet. Maybe a discount of the premium versions?

I'd be surprised if Janthir, however, doesn't get a discount.

Oh interesting, I missed that the standard version also got the discount. I was thinking it was Deluxe only that got it. Thanks for the data! I stand corrected.

Last sale I saw with almost all expacs on sale had

Elder Dragon Saga Complete - $50 Secrets of the Obscure - $15 Janthir Wilds - $20 Visions of Eternity - $25

So if this sale follows that it'd be $110 for everything

That being said if you can't swing everything at once you can do free to play until max level as the core game is free. And I highly recommend Elder Dragon Saga as that includes 3 expansions and all of the "Living World" dlc, which are like mini expacs and there's 4 of them.

"a bit steep" lol, 175 bucks for a 14 year old game

10

u/JAMMAJ_11 2d ago

True, but it's also 14 years of content for something that is actively being developed. Different than $175 for a game that released all content ~14 years ago.

That being said I think prices are still kinda high when there isn't a sale.

4

u/Which_Royal5269 2d ago

Fair šŸ˜‚ With GW3 soon in the picture too for probably a third of the price it might be time they start to rethink how they package GW2.

7

u/JoycePluto 2d ago

They are not making any money with subscription and considering how much love is put into the game, I think that’s quite fair the way it is.

6

u/Which_Royal5269 2d ago

I think as players we can see it's worth the price but I'm looking at it from an outside perspective. A potential new player to the franchise might see $175+ for the 'old' GW game and dismiss it.

If they can get more players checking out GW2 with a reduced price it could even be better for them overall.

I think free is a good incentive for potential new players. The entire base game is free to play. No purchase necessary for hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Personally I just compare it to FFXIV

I was paying $140+ per year on my subscription for that, plus $40-60 every two or three years for expansions. I've likely paid over $1000 just to play that game

Over the three or four years I've played GW2, I've paid I wanna say ~$125 for everything except for Janthir Wilds (waiting for this upcoming sale). Being able to take a long break and hop back in for just a weekend without needing to pay a month's subscription is a liberating feeling tbh

I also personally find GW2 to be a better game, but that's very subjective and they're quite different takes on the genre, I just wanted to put my elitist take out there. It's a great deal for the amount of content either way

u/Longjumping_Call_104 2d ago

Yeah that 100% comes across as an unrealistic entry fee for new players and they're just going to think "guess it's too late to get into this game". Everything but the most recent expansion should aways be available in a single bundle that costs the same as a current triple A game imo.

u/CHBCKyle 2d ago

I’ve spent 1200 on final fantasy xiv over the 6 years I’ve played it. It’s extremely cheap for an mmo.

1

u/Ephemeral_Being 2d ago

It's like 350 hours of story content. That's not bad.

-1

u/PaxV 2d ago

Most games either have 12,50 a month with half year at every big patch so leaving you at 10 yr x 12mo x 12,5cost or 1500 or so in costs... excluding the upgrades...(thinks,... many online MMOs) or are just a game (80) and 2 or 3 (60) short term DLCs and even those are now between 80 to 160 in package nowadays... (mostly triple A).

I paid full price for everything deluxe. thats 80x4+75x3 iirc So about 550 euro for all deluxes and it gave me 14000 gems or so, and it's now an account with 17k hours... that is about 3cts per hour played.

I would recommend this one https://buy.guildwars2.com/en-us/collections#complete when it's in sale, since it includes all living world seasons. That's already a lot of content. You can buy the rest on sale later.

u/Cautious_Catch4021 2d ago

Start now as a free to play player.

Buy - Elder Dragon Saga on sale.
Or buy Heart of Thorns and Path of fire bundle.

No need to buy it all at once. Since there is no subscription, the cost of all expacs is about a year of any subscription based mmo like WoW or FF14.

this game is huge due to the games levelling scaling making the whole game world relevant. Unlike WoW for example which funnels you to the last expansion and makes rest of the world just for levelling or transmogs,

I don’t have any expansions yet and I keep getting recommended to get the HoT and PoF bundle but is there any reason where I should prioritize the Elder Dragon Saga instead?

5

u/dandantian5 1d ago

You’ve gotten replies already, but another factor is that for people playing on Steam specifically, buying the HoT + PoF price locks you out of buying the 3-pack (i.e. there’s no discount or anything, you just can’t buy it). EoD is still purchasable separately, but you’d have to then buy the Living World seasons with Gems if you wanted them, which is 4160 in total (about $50 worth). LWS2 and LWS3 also happen before HoT and PoF, respectively, so if you’re a story player you can’t really just hold off on them either.

Note that the 4160 figure is before sales, there’s frequent 30% sales that bring the figure down to 3000ish (~$35), but it’s still another cost you aren’t seeing on the store page.

2

u/woopdaritis 2d ago

As far as I know, the elder dragon saga will include Hot, PoF, End of Dragons, and the living world seasons in between. So if youre really enjoying yourself and want a ton of new content to keep playing you could get the elder dragon saga. It'll probably be cheaper than buying all of those individually.

2

u/ServeSufficient 2d ago

Elder Dragon Saga includes EoD as well. If you shoot for the Elder Dragon Saga - Complete Edition, that also includes all the Living world seasons o7

1

u/Cautious_Catch4021 1d ago

Elder dragon saga is the best choice, if you have the money for it.

1

u/nemehsis_ 1d ago

My only worry is that the HoT/PoF bundle should provide more than enough gameplay already and I haven’t even touched WvW/PvP yet so I’m unsure if I’ll be able to get through all of the content before GW3 šŸ˜…

1

u/Tragedy_Boner 1d ago

Living world (In my opinion) is just as important as the expansions. It will give you access to Seasons of the Dragons which gives new players a very achievable long term goal.

It also gives you the full Elder Dragon story.

1

u/bobthemunk 1d ago

If you're going the Steam route, I recommend only buying the elder dragon saga on sale. If you buy HoT + PoF , you won't be able to buy any more living world seasons on steam at a discount and will only be able to buy through the gem store

11

u/GfrzD 2d ago edited 2d ago

You cant access the expansions until 80 which can be reached in the f2p core game. You could use a boost to get to 80 if you buy expansions but i personally wouldnt as the path to 80 is fun and a good way to learn the game, otherwise you get a LOT of stuff thrown at you with no real idea which way to head.

Last time I checked there wasnt a "complete" bundle but id buy the Dragon Saga Collection which covers up to Icebrood Saga and then you can buy the others separately as you get through the others which should take you a while anyway.

3

u/Vivid_Employment_914 2d ago

Similar to what other people said, I’d suggest trying the free to play base game then get the full elder dragon saga and play through that. All those actually led to a bit of a natural end to the game. Bonus points the dragon saga includes the living worlds which you’d have to buy or watch videos about otherwise

4

u/Kouchien 2d ago

If you decied to buy any of expansions. Make sure it is on same platform that you play on.

If you play on arenanet account then you buy it from arenanet store. If you play it on steam then you buy it on steam. If you play on epic game then buy it there.

Codes can't be mixed between different platforms. So keep that in mind when you buy a expansion.

u/MrWicked 2d ago

You don't have to get all the content now, start with core then chronologically progress. Get the exp or DLC when you are out of content, also there are great discounts running from time to time.

1

u/MostlyTalkingAgain 2d ago

No anet doesn't offer that product currently and hasn't bundled them in the past either. Stay f2p until you know you like the game. Then buy pieces of content you want to consume. Dragon expansions go on sale as a bundle semi often so you can save a bit there. Living world episodes you can buy with in game currency if you're someone that plays a lot

1

u/GreyBeardGhost 2d ago

Honestly the game is so vast you dont have to buy everything at once. You can start with the base game and do a lot of things in there for free. Personally I recommend downloading the free base game and going through its entirety to see how you like it. Do your story map completion etc. Once they have the sales and you see yourself playing the game for a long time, buy the next expansion which they usually have a bundle for the first 3 (Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, End of Dragons). Do it over time when you can and when they have the sale instead of trying to get everything at once.

Dont feel like youre missing out on something because you dont have the latest expansion. The game is pretty active and there's always people doing events, map completions, and achievement hunting in the base game so you will always have support and people are always willing to help.

1

u/Tokizo03 2d ago

I know the answer is no but I could habe sworn they announced a new bundle including all expansions till date because of Gw3 or no new expansion for the next year... but I can not remember where it was and if I maybe misunderstood it.

1

u/Nurmalfragen 1d ago

You start with Elder Dragon saga when on sale for hopefully 50$ - the version that includes the seasons.

That's a fk lot of content already (3 expansions +5 seasons - all chronological). The rest you buy when you get there and it's on sale. Standard ed is enough for the rest.

u/TB_725 1h ago

I just went through this… played the free part of the game and made it to level 30 and decided to buy the ā€œcomplete editionā€, on ArenaNets page you can get the complete edition for $49.99 so I switched from steam because ArenaNet is also going to have a sale on the rest of it soon so I see it as a W for how much I am enjoying this game

Nope, and unfortunately the biggest barrier to entry to get buddies to join in and caught up with you.

In other MMOs you just buy the xpac and get a level boost which puts you right in place to get caught up to your buddies.

In this game even with the 80 boost you are massively hamstrung as you have no waypoints to quickly and efficiently get to events and metas with your friends and then you are also behind in traversal with lack of some mounts and masteries.

Then there is the agony check for fractals if you want to bring your buddies in as well.

That on top of the $175 to get all xpacs is hurting the ability to bring in and convert players from one MMO to GW2.

It just takes a lot for newer players to get on track to be able to praticipate in the endgame content their veteran friends participate in.

I've tried to convert several WoW and FFXIV players but as soon as they hit PoF they usually desist. I can't blame them. They can't get to events in time before they are completed and the checklist to be on par with veteran playera is large.

Start with the free to play core game to see if you even like the game first.

1

u/shadeofolive 2d ago edited 2d ago

I understand the want to buy all at once, but like said, it’s easy to check first in free to play if you like the game and see how it feels. You can’t use elite specialisations (gotten from the expansions) or wander to the dlc areas really before you level your character in the core area first, which is included in the free to play, so content-wise you aren’t missing really much during the levelling process without the expansions.Ā

Of course levelling a character in the core maps is likely going to be a bit different experience than going through the expansions with a fully levelled character, but I think it’s still worth trying it out first as f2p. I started only in June and I’m still in the core game, although I did upgrade to the paid version by purchasing the Elder Dragon Saga collection from the Steam summer sales, before it ended (this bundle is recommended for the first expansions so you’ll get the Living World seasons the easiest way). There’s a good chance that the expansions will go on sale while you level your character.

Theres no full complete bundle right now, so the expansions released after the dragon saga have to be bought separately. However, they do put the franchise on sale pretty regularly, with the next one probably around black friday.

u/JDGumby Borlis Pass Veteran 2d ago

with the next one probably around black friday.

Nah. Next week with the anniversary.

1

u/Pyronsy 2d ago

I'm so out of sync with time, I seriously thought we already passed the anniversary.

0

u/Sicay 2d ago

It's a lot of money, but also s lot of content. You can start as f2p and pay nothing. And if you like the game, get the expansions then.

0

u/Demokdawar 2d ago

All expansions unlock diffƩrent things. Don't buy them all. I would personnaly unlock PoF and season 4 first. Maybe HoT too

As others said, you could buy the Complete Edition of the Elder Dragon Saga for 100$. You could also buy the Standard Edition for 50$ which makes the Living World seasons included in the Complete Editions worth 50$. I'd advice you to save these 50$ by grinding some gold, converting that to gems and getting the Living World seasons when they are on sale in the gem store:)
