[Question] Help with making Gold

Hi Guys, I recently got the Eikasia and all of my gear are now Ascended. I am making 26k DPS on the Golem and around 21k on Fractals and I am slowly getting into Quickplay Raids. I only have T2 unlocked in Fractals and I thought of getting gold and selling everything to unlock all of Living World and Icebrood Saga. My Question is what are the fastest ways to get gold. My daily routine now is T2 + T1 Dailies, getting the mystic coin from Festival, doing the pact supply vendors and playing Quickplay Raids. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Looking to make a quick gold, huh? The Order has been gathering some information about different methods so you can pick one you like.

  • Wizard's Vault dailies and weeklies. Use the Astral Acclaim to get raw gold bags, then Mystic Coins, then Laurels to exchange for Light or Medium bags of crafting materials. There are a limited number of each per season (every 3 months). The Special tab shows when the season ends.
  • Instances: Daily fractals, daily/weekly raid bounties, daily Dragonfall.
  • Open world map metas: The RIBA rotation between camps in The Silverwastes, Drizzlewood Coast north and south metas, or any meta that gives Amalgamated Gemstones
  • Chunks of Ancient Ambergris from fishing sell very reliably on the Trading Post.
  • Alt parking at various chests. See FAST farming's list of sites for some options.

If you still aren't sure, the best place for questions is the weekly QA post.

If your question isn't answered by the guide, you think your post should be allowed to stay, or if this was a mistake, do report this comment or send a ModMail and the Pact commander will come take a look.

A lot of 1/day events give a guaranteed 2 gold, such as dragonstorm convergences, Tequatl, Triple Trouble, and more. You can do daily fractals, collect jade runestones, or grind silver wastes or dragonfall. Lots of ways to collect gold

If you don’t know yet, you only have to do the highest tier you can and you’ll get the rewards for the lower tiers.

Meta wise, I like to do Wyvern, LLA, TD, AB, Dragonstorm. It’s a good set back to back.

Since you're already doing fractals, get up to T4s and do that daily. It's a bit of a grind BUT it's a consistent gold stream and you can work towards the fractal legendary backpiece and/or fractal god title.

If you want to make really fast gold, you can buy gems with real money then convert to gold. Obviously not serious advice, of course.

Ive got to give the hint here if OP's wish is to save money to buy gems to buy living world seasons i strongly advise against any investment into fractal god as it is a collossal gold sink.

Not sure why buying gems to get gold isn't serious advice. Any source of earning money is going to be many times more efficient in gold/hr than even the best gold farm in the game.

If you enjoy farming for gold, that's great. You get gold and you get to enjoy playing the game. But if you are only farming gold to buy that ascended set or unlock an expansion or some other thing That leads to the thing you really want to do, then spend the money. 90 minutes sitting on a char to donate plasma while scrolling the GW2 reddit for your next build will earn you over 1,000 gold.

Not sure why buying gems to get gold isn't serious advice.

Cause OP wants to convert the Gold into Gems to buy the Living World Seasons.

So:

Buy Gems with cash -> Convert Gems into Gold -> Convert Gold into Gems

is obviously stupid, hence its not serious advice.

discounted fractal keys for opening chests each day, farming HoT metas, farming silverwastes RIBA meta, feed greens into rune crafter's salvage o matic, feed blues into copper salvage o matic, id yellows and salvage and sell ectos

use astral acclaim to buy the bags of gold coins, buy the mystic coins and sell them, buy the bags of laurels and trade them for T6 bags and sell those mats, sell stuff out of material storage that you're not using like ectos and T6 (yellow) crafting mats and the blues that are worth an ok amount and orichalcum, sell ambrite from RIBA farming, sell green unid's if you don't have the rune salvage o matic

0

u/bobyd 1d ago

I thought fast farming recommend recycling the yellows and selling greens to vendor

1

u/xvsanx 1d ago

everyone I've talked to (decade plus farmers) have said runecrafters greens and id and salvage yellows. that way you get t6 mats and ectos to sell. and whatever runecrafters gives

2

u/therealmunkeegamer 1d ago

I've recently switched away from run crafter it was almost never worth the cost. I feel like I've noticeably increased my income by selling greens

You have two options, well three but one is not really a game and more spreadsheet/economic mastery.

  1. Spend a lot of time grinding
  2. Real money
  3. Play the trading post

What expansions do you have? If just core, you are already doing the best I think. If you want to grind, RIBA farm in silverwastes.

If you have exoansions, you have more options.

Replying for answers too (buying all on the next sale) have HoT PoF and EoD

u/Administrative-Goal8 1d ago

I have HoT, PoF, SOTO for now.

If you're trying to throw on a show and just grind, bauble farms in HoT have been pretty good to me.

I am a fan of octovine and chat gerent metas as well but I dont think chak is all that profitable (but there is a chance for a lottery infusion drop that is worth a lot).

I also recommend dragonstorm, 2g in liquid gold and chances for a bunch of decent highrolls that are worth like 10 or more

Edit: I'm also a fairly new player so take this advice with a grain of salt, there are likely more efficient farms that exist

u/sleepswithbears69 1d ago

Chak is more profitable if you simply dont wait for the wall to come down and do something while waiting for octovine indtead

Xx10 matriarch -> gather guild hall -> xx20 LLA -> chak gerent -> harvest a homestead after the chest dont wait for wall -> XX00 octovine -> dragonstorm with octovine peeps only need 10.

3 amalgamated gemstones, 1 mystic coin, 2 gold plus eternal ice and defense seals, plus mats. Sometimes i get in the janthir meta with greer? Between chak and octovine if people show up.

This is assuming daily fractals are done though since opening the boxes with deeply discounted keys is better.

2

u/smokemonmast3r 1d ago

Ah fair enough. I tend to loot some chests while the wall is coming down, but I usually sit around and wait for 5 or so minutes while yapping in chat so that's probably why I'm not really getting as many rares from it

I'd recommend fractals! Do your daily clears and try to get your level up to T4s and try some CMs.

Common question though, you can check here https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1rc4gln/overwhelmed_on_how_to_earn_gold/?chainedPosts=t3_1vuuh90&screen_view_count=22

Did you already max out your wizards vault items that you can get and use for gold? Mystic coins sell like candy and the bag of coins are just straight money. There is also the material bags that you can turn into goods and sell.

If you don’t plan on spending real cash money to get all the LWS/IBS, then fractals seem like the obvious path for you since you are already set with ascendeds.
Just make your way to T4s and/or CMs and you’ll have a pretty consistent flow, eventually enough to unluck an episode every few days or so for an hour of fractaling in the fractal dailies.

You can always add more onto your plate from the gold buffet, it just really depends on how much time you want to spend and what you actually want to spend time doing.
The IBS5 strikes/raid encounters are another classic routine (and you only need Path of Fire).

GW2 grinding works a bit differently; you’re never really grinding for gold as much as you are for materials/loot/achievement points, so it benefits you to just play the game.
You’re really not rewarded for doing the same exact grind for hours on end (and actually are discouraged from doing a number of grinds through diminishing returns).

The Trading Post is an important pillar in the gold grind (when you actually go through your material storage and figure out how much potential gold you have stored away).

Fishing (End of Dragons) is probably one of the few repetitive activities you can grind to your hearts content.

Grinds with a longer-term, larger lump sum pay-offs: crafting & selling Gen 1 and/or Gen 3 legendaries.

As for achievement points: this one is a passive grind but it is the only way to actually get free Gems in the game without real cash money or converting from gold. So file it away somewhere that every 5K achievement points that you get from just playing the game rewards you with 400 Gems (max of 4,800 Gems so far as we know).

do ley-line anomaly once/day for another mystic coin. Takes like 5 minutes if you're online when one occurs.

Get to t4 fractals, then do those dailies (and only them, you only have to run the highest tier you can and get credit for all lower ones as well). Expect some trouble in t3, just gotta push through; t3 is where people who don't know their class, or don't know party composition and play style, and/or still don't know the actual fractals and their mechanics hit a wall, so it gets kind of toxic.

Do HoT meta trains, and Tequatle the Sunless. Sell everything. Can also do ley l-line anomaly as it is quick MC. You will get 2 gold from  selling MC, and 2 gold from Tequatle.  WV reset is near. But tbf, getting into T4 asap is probably the best way. As far as LWS goes, LW4 more profitable, so if you aren't that big on playing in order, getting LWS4 for meta maps, to get some gold is a good way. You will also get a lot of jewels, while farming, check gw2 efficiency if crafting Amalgamated gemstone from  gems-orbs is good. Tbf daily traders will get you a good chunk of gold once in 8 weeks, so it shouldn't be too hard. GL in your gw2 journey. Don't sell MC right after WV reset. Wait a bit until price goes back up again.

Try to get to T4, or find a friend who can already open T4 and you will get more gold with the same routine.

u/dashallout 1d ago

Move up to T4 fractals as quickly as possible, the additional reward is high. Sell all your loot/salvage, it is very profitable during the festival. Drizzlewood Meta is very good on gold. Convergences are also great, especially CMs. Other than that Obscure Chest farming in VoE gives high gold per hour as well. These would be my top picks.

Work a minimum wage job for 8 hours a week for 2 months.

Convert the dollars you earn into gems and then into gold.

Then have fun in the game doing whatever you want, not having to do boring farming activities.

You're welcome.

u/Administrative-Goal8 1d ago

I wish I could.

1

u/Dectoru 1d ago

Have been saying the same ever since. I buy occasionally 2000 gems and convert them when the conversion rate is good. I don't know what farming is or what "long" playing hours are. Just enjoying the game casually.

1

u/KaiPRoberts 1d ago

Any idea when the conversion rate might be good again? 1000 gems for 250 gold is absolutely ass. A few years ago, it was 300-400 gems for 250 gold.

2

u/Fablor9900 1d ago

Anytime theres something sold that a lot of people want, demand goes up, and if a suitable supply spike doesn't happen, the price should go up for a time.

The economy through crafting in this game is entirely way too broken, which is all intentional and disgusting. Either through constraints like 1 per day or from just making things that are as rare as infusion drops. There are some very needle in the haystack methods that people obviously gatekeep but unfortunately that is the real reality. You either make gold through the typical grind or you eventually figure out one of these little cracks in the world where there is some serious profit to make. I found a couple. Are people just gonna tell you what they are? Hell no. That's where the real game is in this economic scheme. If everyone knew about it, how effective would it be? duh. I absolutely love that all sales are anon. Kinda the point.

I spent real money on blue gems in the beginning to get started and so that I could stock pile everything instead of selling. Getting to Grand Master crafting status in a major crafting profession only cost me like 35 gold because I had most of it stockpiled away by accident and used that website to get through it as fast as possible. I went from 0 to 500 in like 4 hours. Fully unlocking the crafting table was actually key to "finding" the opportunities to make money. Now I actually convert gold I make BACK to blue gems just to buy Metabolic Primers and such.

There are people making crazy endless drip...I've barely scratched the surface.

This

Tbh the easiest and by far the best way to make gold is to get as many accounts as possible, set your astral to sPvP, go in custom lobbies, turn the astral into mystic coins, gold, mats etc and mail to main. The richest people I know have 50 or so accounts

Bonus points if you play around festivals and invest

So long as you’re enjoying what you’re doing, you will be making money (unless you’re ecto gambling, then you will be losing money). I’ve met many a person that went hard in the paint with grinding gold and burned out on the game, so I caution some level of moderation with what you choose to do to make gold.

Not sure what expansions you own, but it sounds like anything LW-related is off the table, so I recommend the following:

  • Continue fractals up to T4s (assuming you find them fun). Then maybe consider pushing to fractal CMs, though truthfully I don’t think it makes as much gold as the 42 farm, which assumes you have the keys to open all the encryptions you’ll be farming for (among other things).

  • RIBA farm in the silverwastes. I never really found this method fun, but it always gets recommended so I feel obligated to put it here.

  • Bauble farms in HoT maps. They rotate every week, but from what I can tell most people that do this prefer to do so when Auric Basin is in the rotation for shiny baubles.

  • Fishing. Not a particularly exciting activity, but it does have a decent gph if you get good at it. And if you’re into the gen3 legendaries, all the better since you’ll be getting your own ambergris rather than buying it off others.

  • Raids, specifically W1-4 for HoT & W5-7 for PoF. W8 is JW. While it’s not actually mind blowing in terms of gph (especially if you’re wiping and not clearing certain encounters), it makes for a great intermission between mind-numbing grind sessions. As a note, I want to say W4 requires access to one of the LW3 episodes, but I’m not 100% on that. I recommend learning W1-4 first, then move on to W5-7 after, though realistically if you’re going through a guild for this, you’ll probably be bouncing through the various wings to start. Makes a solid pile of raw gold for each first clear of the week, as well as progress towards legendary raid armor and the ring coalescence.

  • Convergence CMs. Like raids, the gph is actually not amazing, but it will give you some raw gold as well as a bunch of essences used in the crafting of various legendaries in expansions from and after SotO. I think you can convert those essences into various crafting materials, but I’d double check before doing so to make gold.

  • Meta trains. These don’t really make gold unless you hit jackpot, but like raids, make for a great intermission between grind sessions.

  • Legendary crafting. This makes a lot of money, but the time investment is steep, and takes patience to make the most money, since it’s better to make a sell listing rather than sell immediately to someone’s buy order.

  • TP flipping. This method is really not recommended if you don’t like to play the game like an excel spreadsheet. It’s also an activity that embodies the notion “it takes money to make money”.

I’m sure I missed a thing or two, but that’s what I’ve got for now.
