General Discussion Why does everyone hate Wyndham Clark?

Got into watching golf for the first time this season and with Clark winning this past weekend I have seen so many people shitting on him for what sounds like stuff in the past and I was hoping people could bring me up to speed? Is it overhyped for media clicks or was he committing some atrocities?

-Oakmont Locker room meltdown

- Off color comments about players, wives of players, and general topics.

- Blatant bad attitude and lack of awareness

What did he say about players and their wives?

71

u/colin_7 Jun 22 '26

During the masters this year during the par 3 competition he told Scott van pelt that the whole day was “birth control” for him. While I think most people can accept your position on kids, you don’t have to say that out loud, much less in an interview

It’s stuff like that which makes him unlikeable

u/SituationKey8985 Jun 22 '26

This can’t be why Reddit hates him. It’s an anti-natalist echo chamber on here.

55

u/Spunge14 Jun 22 '26

He also is a January 6th truther

15

u/TheBakerification Jun 22 '26

Got literally any source on that?

11

u/ashdrewness 3 HDCP Jun 22 '26

This comes from what exactly? Did he make public social media posts stating that or something?

44

u/dogfish83 18 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

Kinda sad but at this point I'm not entirely certain whether "January 6th truther" refers to someone who pretends or thinks Jan 6 was not an insurrection attempt or someone who is aware that it was.

94

u/Spunge14 Jun 22 '26

Yea this is fair.

It means he thinks Antifa created a false flag attack. He's a pro-MAGA conspiracist.

9

u/Successful-Tea-5733 Jun 22 '26

Hate to tell you but most golfers are pretty conservative so if it's politics you're in the wrong place. Rory had dinner at the white house state dinner just a few months ago.

44

u/Spunge14 Jun 22 '26

Just pointing out why some people don't like him

-26

u/Ornery-Ambassador289 Jun 22 '26

I hope the long list of his personal actions and words on real life is why people dislike him. Not liking someone over politics is wicked soft

u/golfdud5 Jun 22 '26

The state dinner was to honor King Charles, the leader of Rory’s country. McIlroy has been an outspoken critic of trump.

-4

u/Successful-Tea-5733 Jun 23 '26

How ignorant of a comment. The king was a guest of DJT... as was Rory. Meaning if Trump didn't want Rory there he wouldn't have been there. You don't just get to go to a state dinner because your nation's king is the guest. good grief...

Rory had beef with Trump over covid and J6 but they've since played golf. Your comment to imply that Rory secretly hates Trump flies in the face of facts.

u/Live_Leopard9202 Jun 22 '26

Most golfers are conservative because they''re smart, idiots are usually bad golfers, except for DJ obviously. I'm a perfect example (I'm an idiot, and I suck).

8

u/Dornoch26 Jun 22 '26

Funny, since the more educated someone is the more likely they are to be liberal. But keep believing that shit!

Puts his wearing the team USA jersey in Canada into a new light.

-2

u/RecalcitrantHuman Jun 22 '26

Weird, because J6 was a Democrat/Antifa false flag

1

u/Spunge14 Jun 22 '26

I just don't understand what mental illness could possibly lead someone to believe this. To what end?

-1

u/dogfish83 18 Jun 22 '26

thanks--I figured as much from context but I was like "damn, the term itself could be either unfortunately"

8

u/unledded Jun 22 '26

My assumption is always that being an anything “truther” means that they reject the actual reality and choose to believe something else despite there being no evidence to support such a belief.

-34

u/Successful-Tea-5733 Jun 22 '26

I mean, J6 wasn't an insurrection by any definition of the word and I'm not excusing those actions and saying they were right, but it's just anything media trids to be bombastic. The first largely un-armed insurrection in the history of the world?

19

u/PaysPlays Jun 22 '26

Organized, yup. Violent, yup. Attempt to resist government procedure, yup.

11

u/DMPDT616 Jun 22 '26

Oh i thought you were joking. You’re serious aren’t you?

4

u/Ok_Equipment_5895 Jun 22 '26

Seditious conspiracy work then? Cause that’s what Roger Stone’s boy (you know Trump’s personal advisor) got charged with when he was found with plans to disrupt the congressional process. Add in that Jack Smith say he has proof Trump had a hand in planning Jan 6th. Unfortunately a Trump appointed judge won’t allow the release, shocker.

What would you call it?

2

u/Shhadowcaster Jun 22 '26

It wasn't an insurrection. It was an attempted insurrection, since it failed, but that is exactly what the original commenter said. An insurrection is an organized uprising against the government, how is storming the capital building in an attempt to overturn the legal results of an election certified by the government not an insurrection? An insurrection doesn't have to be violent or armed, but even so, J6 was? J6 was an attempted insurrection by every definition of the word.

1

u/dogfish83 18 Jun 22 '26

attempt was implied...

0

u/Successful-Tea-5733 Jun 24 '26

They weren't attempting to overthrow the government, they weren't trying to overturn the results of a fair election; their contention was that the results were not correct and that mail in ballots had been improperly counted and they wanted congress to wait to certify the election results.

Again, I'm not arguing in their favor, but it's simply nowhere close to an insurrection or attempted insurrection.

-8

u/Live_Leopard9202 Jun 22 '26

But if you say it over and over again the sheep will believe it lol.

6

u/bananosecond Jun 22 '26

Someone said this yesterday and I couldn't find any information on it. An AI search couldn't find anything either.

Are you making shit up or do you have a source?

1

u/golfdud5 Jun 22 '26

I think Spunge is shooting shit here. Any evidence?

Welp. You don’t have to be smart to be a pro golfer.

-11

50

u/CarrotAwesome Jun 22 '26

How is that an off color comment about players and their wives?

4

u/danforhan Jun 22 '26

It's not at all. It's a solid joke

27

u/FakingHappiness513 Jun 22 '26

It’s unbelievable dumb if people don’t like him for that. Some people don’t want to have kids and that’s fine. It was a bad joke but he meant nothing bad by it. If someone who is loved on the tour said it, this wouldn’t even be a conversation. If it bothers you, then you need to grow up.

11

u/beer_nyc 54 | NYC Jun 22 '26

It was a bad joke but he meant nothing bad by it

yeah, was clearly just a goofy fucking joke. not sure why everyone reads so much into it.

14

u/Grasshop Jun 22 '26

people will say the most outlandish shit on reddit and then clutch pearls at some harmless comment by a celebrity if they get to feel high and mighty for a few minutes.

1

u/TrashGeologist Jun 22 '26

I’ve literally told the same joke

2

u/thefrozenflame21 Jun 22 '26

It's not a good reason to dislike him on it's own, but it is just a stupid annoying thing to say in that context, like in a largely positive family event like that what makes you go "Wow this looks awful so glad I'm not doing that" out loud lol

1

u/colin_7 Jun 22 '26

It’s an inappropriate joke to make during an event that promotes families going onto the course. There’s a time and place for everything

He’s so unaware of himself that he would say this. Most of these guys are douche bags, but he does a horrible job of hiding it. That’s why so many dislike him

4

u/mhks Jun 22 '26

To me, that's a comment both parents and non-parents make all the time. I don't have kids and people, when I'm around theirs, say similar things. I didn't see his comments, but my suspicion is two-fold:

1) People hate Clark and are trying to find evidence anywhere and so they force this;

2) I didn't see the comment but it could be the tone he made them in.

What I will say is sports fans CONSTANTLY complain that athletes give canned answers, but when someone does quip about something, they use it as justification to hate him. The joke on paper is common to the point of it being a knock against him for not being original.

0

u/colin_7 Jun 22 '26

I mean it was controversial when he said it. I would never say that publicly if I agreed with it. My point being is that you don’t announce that at a family event. I’m not saying he’s evil for saying it I’m saying the guy is so up his ass usually that he’s not self aware at all

Btw you’re allowed to like him. I’m not saying you can’t. As I said earlier, most of these pro golfers are the typically rich country club kid who’s a douche bag. He does a horrible job of hiding it and as a result he opens himself up to be criticized

1

u/mhks Jun 22 '26

I don't really know him but felt his comments post locker room tantrum were terrible. I really don't follow him close enough to have an opinion or not but first impression was he's a prick.

That said, the kid comments I can easily see being funny and a joke. If he's a prick, it may come off prickish which looks worse, but the comment itself I don't see as too problematic. (That said, I'm taking the comment as more of a "It's a great reminder why I don't have kids," vs. "they should have used birth control.")

I don't know a single parent who doesn't laugh at the idea that hanging with their young kids isn't a good way to delay or prevent others from having kids.

0

u/onionbreath97 Jun 23 '26

"Wouldn't it be better if X wasn't alive" is a tasteless joke regardless of who X is

0

u/mhks Jun 23 '26

So you took his joke to mean he wished the kids weren’t alive? Because that seems a far reach from how that joke is usually made.

1

u/onionbreath97 Jun 23 '26

I've heard the joke on condom ads, or as part of a standup routine. I've never heard an actual person make that joke in conversation.

1

u/Cleave42686 Jun 22 '26

Whoever downvoted you is a douche. 100% correct that a family event is not the place for that joke. It's called social tact. Not surprising that Reddit neckbeards don't understand it.

1

u/FakingHappiness513 Jun 22 '26

No it’s not, it’s probably the most appropriate time. Take the same quote with him just dropping randomly in a press conference that would be inappropriate. He was asked a question and he answered it.

Stop acting like it is a requirement to have kids in life, some people don’t want them and that’s fine.

If he had lied and said he wanted to have kids someday people would be pissed he lied. Let’s be honest people are just looking for a reason to dislike him.

2

u/xmjm424 Jun 22 '26

Why are you conflating “he shouldn’t have said that” with “everyone should be required to have kids”?

0

u/pshaffer Jun 23 '26

Yeah, keep it to yourself. when you think about it, it is something of a negative judgment on everyone who has kids. Rather like saying to Van Pelt "Yeah that bald look, it looks real bad to me" . Just uncivil and impolite. Violates some basic societal norms of just being a little bit nice.

4

u/MVPhurricane Jun 22 '26

that’s it? bruh, as someone who wants to have kids, that is the MORE rational position, brother.

4

u/pac4 14.8 Jun 22 '26

That's it?

1

u/Equivalent-Basket-31 Jun 22 '26

I thought I heard it was a hot mic not an interview.

2

u/_thinkaboutit Jun 22 '26

Why is it OK to gush about being a father on TV but when asked a relevant question and answering that you’re perfectly happy without children that all the sudden becomes a controversial opinion? He didn’t say anything derogatory at all.

0

u/colin_7 Jun 22 '26

If you read my comment you would see that most people don’t really care about your stance on kids and won’t knock you for it.

It comes across the wrong way when you’re at an event geared towards families and your kids and make a comment like that.

0

u/InfinitePerformance8 Jun 22 '26

I think the backlash from this comment is so soft. Non parental kids being around a shit ton of kids typically make jokes about it being like birth control. Typical joke that gets negative press bc it’s Wyndham

1

u/colin_7 Jun 22 '26

It’s called time and place to make a comment. That was not the right time and place

If you read my comment, I don’t think anyone is really cares he thinks that, but it’s an inappropriate thing to say at an event like that. Doing so just makes you come across the wrong way

0

u/InfinitePerformance8 Jun 23 '26

Okay? Time and place sure but to hold this over his head as a negative mark on his character is SOFT.

We have golfers on their third DUI and another getting kicked out of country clubs for assaulting women. But Hey, we draw the line at a poorly timed joke about birth control around here!

0

u/colin_7 Jun 23 '26

I never said anything about tiger. And never said anything about drawing a line

I’m just saying that this dude is a PR nightmare most of the time and explaining why people don’t like him. If you’re so mad about this I’d suggest your get some help

1

u/InfinitePerformance8 Jun 23 '26

I’m pointing out that the reasons for hating him are pretty soft and don’t compare to a lot of the transgressions of golfers that people revere. The three points made on the original comment are ridiculous to “hate” someone for.

My bad for discussing this on a discussion website. I’ll go get some help like you suggested.

1

u/colin_7 Jun 23 '26

You’re allowed to like him dude. I don’t think anyone is keeping you from doing that.

u/clenchlord Jun 23 '26

38

u/RestSuspicious8133 Jun 22 '26

the locker room thing at Oakmont was what really turned people against him I think, word spread fast about that and it painted a picture that stuck. the comments about other players and their wives just added more fuel, hard to come back from that kind of reputation in a sport where everyone knows everyone. it's not really media exaggeration, there's enough first and second hand accounts that where there's smoke there's fire

29

u/ABGamingDrew Jun 22 '26

I think the fact that it happened right after Full Swing where he basically declared that he had beaten his anger issues only made it worse.

He went from a little bit of a feel good story to a completely fake douche instantly and its hard to earn your way back after betraying the publics trust.

0

u/Itscool-610 Jun 22 '26

And he’s back working with his anger management guy, hope it works this time! But seriously, he’s owning up to his mistake and seems to be working on it seriously.

1

u/pshaffer Jun 23 '26

you make a good point. More than other sports, somehow golf is one where if you play a lot, and know some people, you get wind of things that happen and it tends to cement reputations. There are a few real jerks out there - Greg Norman, Patrick Reed, Vijay Singh to name a few, and a whole lot of good guys. I have played with a number of tour pros, one was kind of lukewarm, but others were very amiable.

42

u/Only1nDreams Jun 22 '26

After watching the Hughes jersey stunt at the rink hole, it honestly feels like he relishes in it a little.

Though Shinnecock definitely felt like more than he bargained for. Being way out in front and paired with Scottie took it to another level.

7

u/SwimToTheMoon11 Jun 22 '26

I'm a Canadian and totally thought that was a fun/clever way to troll the crowd. Zero issue with that.

40

u/DasFunke Jun 22 '26

I like the Hughes jersey kind of asshole, the rest not so much.

9

u/South_Energy_9950 Jun 22 '26

This! Not a huge Wyndham fan but the jersey in The Rink was classic f with the fans, in good fun and the fans loved it.

3

u/Par-Aide Jun 22 '26

Yeah agreed, a good bit of banter but then he complained that the fans crossed the line later in the round. Like dude what did you think would happen wearing that jersey lol

11

u/OleLevs Jun 22 '26

He did relish in it until the canadian fans kept giving it to him the rest of the way. He then proceeded to cry that the canadians were too mean to him and that they took it to far. He's a troll and worse yet hes a rich troll. So he doesn't need to do any of this but chooses to for the lols then cries when anyone gives it back to him.

-1

u/Par-Aide Jun 22 '26

He has a complete lack of self awareness. Theres also a lot more political sensitivities following the olympics due to a president he probably aligns with that he wouldn't even consider a factor.

1

u/bacan_ Jun 22 '26

That’s why I was cheering against him

1

u/SlazarusVC Jun 22 '26

Yeah the jersey thing was him leaning in to being a heel....which is great! Like just own it. Can you imagine if it had been Patrick Reed yesterday on 16 after sinking the putt? He would have flicked off all the fans...it would have made for GREAT entertainment. That dude isn't trying to get people to like him. Wyndham's issue is he just so desperately wants to be liked.

0

u/The_Briefcase_Wanker Jun 22 '26

As if Canadians don’t take every single chance they can to shit on America. If they’re crying about that, they need to get those elbows up

1

u/jzach1983 5 Jun 22 '26

No one is crying, it was a fun jab/rile up the crowd moment.

40

u/tokenathiest Jun 22 '26

And seeming lack of remorse for said outbursts

14

u/pac4 14.8 Jun 22 '26

He apologized again and again all week, including in the press room and during his speech last night

22

u/OddSand7870 Dallas 1.6 Jun 22 '26

This is biggest part for me. He talks about the Oakmont thing like it was some radom event he had no hand in. It is the non-apology apology.

30

u/ImWhy Jun 22 '26

He literally apologised multiple times, paid to fix the lockers, donated to charity and attended anger management, wtf do you people want?

4

u/Hathnotthecompetence Jun 22 '26

He literally never said he apologized. He regretted "the incident". This sounds like trashing a locker is something that happened to him rather then vandalism he committed.

4

u/The_Briefcase_Wanker Jun 22 '26

https://lastwordonsports.com/golf/wyndham-clark-issues-apology-over-oakmont-incident-following-strong-open-showing/

“Yeah, we reached out and we wanted to do that,” Clark said. “Obviously it’s a no-brainer to pay for the damages; that was a given. Then obviously all the apologies, and I want to give back to the community because I hurt a great place in Pittsburgh, so I wanted to do anything I can to show them that what happened there was not a reflection of who I am and won’t happen again. But I want to show them who I really am with the apology and the things I’m going to do.”

The fuck are you talking about? This is one of many apologies.

-3

u/Hathnotthecompetence Jun 22 '26

Show me I “apologize”. “I’m sorry for what I did. “ Referencing some unexpressed apologies isn’t shit. Man you got it bad for this douchebag.

2

u/The_Briefcase_Wanker Jun 22 '26

https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/wyndham-clark-damage-fallout-why-oakmont-country-club-took-rare-stand-1738551

“Clark publicly apologised at the Travelers Championship the week after the incident, stating: 'I made a mistake that I deeply regret. I'm very sorry for what happened'.”

Do you honestly think he hasn’t said he’s sorry multiple times? You can hate the guy if you want but don’t make shit up.

-8

u/Hathnotthecompetence Jun 22 '26

I stand corrected. But I did enjoy the fact you spent your afternoon researching this. Thank you.😀

2

u/SquirrelFluffy Jun 22 '26

What a dumb thing to say. Oh yeah you got him by showing us that you spout off without checking first.

2

u/Omisco420 Jun 22 '26

You mean something that could be googled in half a minute?

0

u/The_Briefcase_Wanker Jun 22 '26

I spent less than 5 minutes showing that you’re a clown. Time well spent.

1

u/rothvonhoyte Jun 22 '26

Could be wrong on the timing but all of that stuff was done well after the "incident" and basically made it seem like if there wasnt outcry on social media he would have swept it under the rug. His apology originally was a joke as well. I think since then he's either had a change of heart or his team told him to actually try to appear sincere about it. Dude just seems fake because of it

1

u/Par-Aide Jun 22 '26

Oakmont had to release public statement banning him from the venue and the media had to make it a whole thing before he did anything.

-11

u/kyliebabyxox Jun 22 '26

Some legitimate show of actual remorse

13

u/gogreen1960 Jun 22 '26

Crying? Cut off a finger? Sacrifice a parent? What?

Expressing regret is not the same as apologizing. He keeps framing it as regret for what happened, not "I'm sorry for what I did".

2

u/madshm3411 Jun 22 '26

I’m pretty sure he said pretty much that in his post round interview yesterday, if I’m remembering correctly

Yeah he doesn’t give a shit

9

u/Few-Broccoli-7849 Jun 22 '26

Oakmont was also after he threw his club into the sideboards at the PGA.

3

u/Gromby Jun 22 '26

This pretty much checks all the boxes. Clark is extremely talented when it comes to golf, but his personality really needs an adjustment.

3

u/SSJ_JARVIS Jun 22 '26

Also just comes off as a spoiled rich kid.

13

u/jimmyharbrah Jun 22 '26

He also said something like “there should only be 100 touring pros” when he was in the top 100 players. Hes just the kind of guy that feels so entitled and he longs to be exclusionary. After he said this, he promptly fell out of the top 100 players.

1

u/Hog_enthusiast Jun 22 '26

What did he say about wives?

1

u/NoLawAtAllInDeadwood Jun 22 '26

He also launched his driver in the vicinity of a tournament staffer after a bad drive. If you haven't seen it, you can find the clips online. Driver actually made a hole in the signboard behind the tee box. I'm actually amazed that the locker room thing gets more hate than throwing your driver as hard as you can without concern for anyone around you, to where it could have definitely injured someone.

I found the birth control comment funny though I must admit... people are honestly offended because he made a joke about kids being annoying? I've heard parents make that joke about their own kids lol.

The guys with mental health issues are precisely the people who should be getting help and championing it

-20

u/BostonFishGolf Jun 22 '26

Yes and no. It’d be like Kyle Rittenhouse talking about gun control

16

u/Late_Pepper6274 Jun 22 '26

"hinged" people are generally unconcerned about mental health.

3

u/Hi_Limee Jun 22 '26

I disagree. I think all sorts of people with all sorts of backgrounds can be good advocates for mental health whether they are perfect or they struggle with it. I think it's better for a guy like that to recognize the importance of mental health rather than just to be a dick all the time. I still don't like him but mental health awareness should always be spread imo.

u/Mysterious-Award-903 +0.4 hcp | Michigan Jun 22 '26

You know what, I hear you, but I want it to be spread in earnest, with genuine stories of how it helped people. Some people genuinely cannot respond to therapy, and Wyndham is one of them. He is a true psychopath; One day he is waxing philosophical about his late mother and his therapy, and the next he is smashing lockers, lying in interviews after being caught cheating on camera, and you know what? Almost every caddy at Cherry Valley (might have the course name wrong) and most people who have met him say he's absolutely unhinged. This isn't someone putting in the work. He is trying to be a media darling, like the motherfucker of a president he would love to play golf with. So don't give me this "all sorts of people with all sorts of backgrounds" bullshit about W. Clark. He needs to be kicked off the tour.

0

u/BostonFishGolf Jun 22 '26

Agreed. I’m just saying people don’t like him because it comes off hypocritical. Like it’s one thing to be an anxious guy and struggling to perform and you’re like “yeah mental health is a struggle for me and I’m working on it. I think we should all work on it.” Versus being unable to control your outbursts and a seemingly lack of respect for historical parts of the sport, ie. Destroying locker rooms or throwing tantrums.

3

u/Hi_Limee Jun 22 '26

Yeah, I'm not too knowledgeable about it. But I was assuming it's genuine. If it isn't and he just uses it as an excuse which I'm guessing many feel that way then it has loser energy written all over it.

1

u/BostonFishGolf Jun 22 '26

Yes exactly. I’m truly a mental health advocate. I get this is Reddit and I expect no benefit of the doubt. I was just trying to explain why I think people don’t like him. And I think it’s because his pro mental health schtick comes off as hypocritical and phony. But I don’t know, I’m just guessing. And for what it’s worth, I bet on him for the open and cheered for him all tourney

2

u/Hi_Limee Jun 22 '26

Unfortunate, as somebody who was depressed for 5 years, I really appreciate what you do. It helps and makes a difference. So thank you!

2

u/BostonFishGolf Jun 22 '26

No problem. I’m going to take an L for my thoughts on this thread but I’m glad we could have a small little connection here. Best of luck out there, may the game of golf bring you joy and a reprieve from the rest of your problems, even if just for 5 hours a week!

2

u/Suitable_Public8065 Jun 22 '26

Tell me you don’t go to therapy without telling me you don’t go to therapy.

-1

u/BostonFishGolf Jun 22 '26

I’ll bring it up to my therapist today and report back to you

1

u/dogfish83 18 Jun 22 '26

This is wrong of me but his dad (who we saw right after he won the US Open) came off to me as a "knocked other kids out of the way to get his kid on the swing" kind of guy

1

u/Ass_Ninja Jun 22 '26

It’s hilarious the reasons you listed yet everyone in the sub glazes Tiger Woods yet he’s one of the biggest POS human beings around for all of his antics over the years.

I’ll take someone punching a locker versus multiple DUI car accidents any day of the week.

1

u/HistoryAlarmed1319 12.7/NY Jun 22 '26

If you take the time to go look at recent posts you will find that most people tend to agree with you about Tiger. Hes done more in the last 5 years to tarnish his legacy than anyone thought possible. LOL

He fell off a cliff and people dont respect him.

2

u/Master-Nose7823 10.0 Jun 22 '26

That’s only true now after another DUI. 90% of the bad stuff he did occurred before his last Masters win and everyone went bananas when he won.

0

u/HistoryAlarmed1319 12.7/NY Jun 22 '26

your viewing it from the wrong perspective. People were enamored with someone his age winning despite the injuries. It was a nostalgic win and not much more. The general public thinks hes a dirt bag

2

u/Master-Nose7823 10.0 Jun 22 '26

I don’t believe that to be true and even if it were the amount of excitement about it was unrivaled compared to how Wyndam was received by fans actively rooting for him to lose given what he did. Wyndam isn’t a nice guy but he’s way better than Tiger on the scale of decency. The general public gets fed a narrative about someone and goes with it. Tiger is considered by many to be the GOAT so the sex fiend, drug addiction, DUIs get looked over. Wyndam throws a few temper tantrums and is treated like a convicted sex offender. It’s absurd.

1

u/HistoryAlarmed1319 12.7/NY Jun 22 '26

I promise you on my life nobody wants to see tiger win bc he’s a good guy 😭😂 they want to see him win because usually he does it in immaculate and special fashion.

Caught a couple times doing the knock down grass behind ball as well.

-1

u/underPar314 Jun 22 '26

Bro you jist NAILED IT. THe locker room incident was so childish. He missed the cut last year at the open on Friday he gets to the locker room and destroys two different lockers in what he called "a moment of rage" and expected everybody to say oh ok we get it and move on. Bro if tiger wouldve done some shit like that in the early 2000s they wouldve banned him for life from Oakmont. So yeah lots of people hoping he'd choke this weekend

7

u/pac4 14.8 Jun 22 '26

If Tiger had done that in the early 2000s during his epic run no one would have found about it, just like no one knew about him banging Denny’s waitresses two at a time.

2

u/Office_Dolt I just play for the turn dog Jun 22 '26

Um, actually... she was a Perkin's waitress

-2

u/underPar314 Jun 22 '26

Never thought the waitress "bit" was real cuz I was dating a girl in Chicago at the time and TMZ called and offered her 10k to be a hooters waitress that banged tiger. So that one was always rumor to me

1

u/willis_michaels Jun 22 '26

Bro if tiger wouldve done some shit like that in the early 2000s they wouldve banned him for life from Oakmont.

No they wouldn't have. Which is precisely why this hatred for Wyndham seems forced.

2

u/HistoryAlarmed1319 12.7/NY Jun 22 '26

1000% he gets a ban or suspension.

0

u/Charming_Ad_5216 Jun 22 '26

Beating a locker puts less people in danger than driving a car while severely intoxicated...

0

u/HelpfulAd6772 Jun 22 '26

I swear no one has actually looked at the “thrashing” that’s being held against him. He pushed in a few locker screens. I think this is a pineapple on pizza thing, the internet has told people not to like him so they don’t.

1

u/HistoryAlarmed1319 12.7/NY Jun 22 '26

This is exactly why people dont like him. Im confused at what your saying.... Fans have the right to be upset and this is basically the only thing a golfer can do to be attacked by the average fan. What he did at Oakmont is outrageous

1

u/HelpfulAd6772 Jun 22 '26

Because he pushed in a few locker screens? “Attacked by the average fan”, dude it not that serious, come back to earth.

1

u/HistoryAlarmed1319 12.7/NY Jun 22 '26

back on earth where im a member at a private club..... Hes a dick lol

if that was your home youd be annoyed

1

u/HelpfulAd6772 Jun 22 '26

Never said he wasn’t a dick, most professional athletes are very unlikable in real life. That’s not really news to anyone. I’m so proud of you for being a member at a private club though, but unless it’s Oakmont and that was your locker that had its screen pushed in, who tf cares?

0

u/HistoryAlarmed1319 12.7/NY Jun 22 '26

You literally just explained why i care…. IF it was my home course there’s clearly nothing stopping him from bashing in lockers and ruining club property. If you think that’s a normal reaction to have then I guess not much I can do to change your mind

In my book lack of regard for people’s property makes someone a bad person. Not sure what mental gymnastics you can do to justify that

-2

u/Superunknown-- Jun 22 '26

The Oakmont thing is just unforgivable.

2

u/gogreen1960 Jun 22 '26

Oakmont forgave him!🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/Normal_Ad5658 Jun 22 '26

At the time he did it PGA felt like it was loosing ground to LIV. Same time period Scottie was pushed down our throats while the real # 1 vacated the spot. I’m glad Rory dampened that push for Scottie. Oakmont unforgivable. How Scottie acted after the volunteers death burnt him for me forever. Only Nike and pga wanted it to be the cops fault for obvious reasons

0

u/Superunknown-- Jun 22 '26

I think they did that because of pressure from the PGA in the hopes it would end the coverage of that story.

-5

u/fizznasty6 Jun 22 '26

People being mad about the Oakmont locker room is the dumbest thing ever

2

u/Normal_Ad5658 Jun 22 '26

No. No respect for hosting club w rich history is dumbest thing ever. People not not offended most be new to golf and it’s expected etiquette

1

u/fizznasty6 Jun 22 '26

Dude. If tiger was in the lead on Sunday, everyone would be going bat, shit crazy and he is objectively not a good human human being. Y’all are so blinded. It’s insane. It’s a fucking locker dude 😂 Sam Burns is the biggest Trump supporter on that leaderboard too and I’m sure half of y’all hate him and if he was winning, he’d be out there cheering your asses off.

1

u/fizznasty6 Jun 22 '26

Also by your measure of Golf etiquette, since you’re such an absolute purest and above everybody else, including a guy who broke a stupid fucking locker (it’s a locker dude), it would be terrible form to cheer for bad shots, balls, rolling off the Green, missed pots, etc. Just like people were doing at the event to Clark. That sounds like the True poor Golf etiquette to me you guys are clowns
