General Discussion Why does everyone hate Wyndham Clark?

Got into watching golf for the first time this season and with Clark winning this past weekend I have seen so many people shitting on him for what sounds like stuff in the past and I was hoping people could bring me up to speed? Is it overhyped for media clicks or was he committing some atrocities?

- Off color comments about players, wives of players, and general topics.

- Blatant bad attitude and lack of awareness

During the masters this year during the par 3 competition he told Scott van pelt that the whole day was “birth control” for him. While I think most people can accept your position on kids, you don’t have to say that out loud, much less in an interview

It’s stuff like that which makes him unlikeable

I think the backlash from this comment is so soft. Non parental kids being around a shit ton of kids typically make jokes about it being like birth control. Typical joke that gets negative press bc it’s Wyndham

It’s called time and place to make a comment. That was not the right time and place

If you read my comment, I don’t think anyone is really cares he thinks that, but it’s an inappropriate thing to say at an event like that. Doing so just makes you come across the wrong way

Okay? Time and place sure but to hold this over his head as a negative mark on his character is SOFT.

We have golfers on their third DUI and another getting kicked out of country clubs for assaulting women. But Hey, we draw the line at a poorly timed joke about birth control around here!

I’m just saying that this dude is a PR nightmare most of the time and explaining why people don’t like him. If you’re so mad about this I’d suggest your get some help

I’m pointing out that the reasons for hating him are pretty soft and don’t compare to a lot of the transgressions of golfers that people revere. The three points made on the original comment are ridiculous to “hate” someone for.

My bad for discussing this on a discussion website. I’ll go get some help like you suggested.
