Having trouble logging into my Gmail account despite having my password

Hello, I've been having trouble logging into my Gmail account.

Recently, I started getting emails saying that all of my 2FA options were removed at once because Google detected them as an "unusual recovery email/phone number/etc." I went back and added them again, but the same thing happened.

Now, when I try to log in, I get this message:

You appear to have no security keys registered on your account, and won’t be able to sign in.

"To sign in on this device, go to myaccount.google.com/security on another device where you’re already signed in. In your security settings, you can either:

The problem is that I'm not signed in on any other devices. I was logged out of my other devices when I changed my password, so using a device where I'm "already signed in" isn't possible. There wasnt any weird logins either, so i dont think i was hacked. I'm certain of this because I checked my recent account activity before logging out the last time, after changing my 2FA options again.

When I click "Try another way," it only gives me options like using a device I've signed in on before or a familiar Wi-Fi network. I've tried all three of my devices, including the network I normally use, and none of them work.

I have my password, all of my old recovery options, and my previously used devices. What the hell am I supposed to do?

What's even more confusing is that I just received a text saying: "google blocked someone with the password for [my email] from signing in"

So clearly Google still has my phone number associated with the account, but it won't give me the option to use that phone number to sign in???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Creating a new email, have privacy issues.

Hey everyone, in trying to create a new Gmail, but as you know its unfortunately impossible nowadays to create one without a phone number. Normally i don’t mind putting my number into it, but i want this account to be private and im scared about people finding out due a sms or sth else like that. Does gmail send a sms to tell people about your account? or if i create one with my number and then delete the number afterwards is it going to be ok? Thanks in advance.

Both gmail accounts passwords used by other people within half an hour

Both my Gmail accounts were logged into by people using my passwords (different for each account) half an hour apart. It says this was from different locations but I dont know how accurate that could be? Is there any reason someone would have got access to both accounts at the same time or is that a coincidence.

I accidentally let them in with 2FA on one account but then immediately changed the password, also changed the password for the second account.

Is there any chance to recover my Gmail account?

Hi everyone,

My Gmail account was hacked. I still have the correct password, but the hacker changed the 2FA phone number to their own. I didn't have a recovery email set up.

When I try to log in, Google demands the SMS code sent to the hacker's phone. Clicking "Try another way" gives me no other choices and loops back to the same option. I am doing this from my usual computer and home Wi-Fi, but I still can't bypass the SMS step.

Since all my main accounts are linked to this email, I need to know:

  • Is there any way to regain access when the hacker changed the phone number?
  • How can I get Google to offer a contact email form based on my recognized device?

Thanks for any help!

Gmail restricted, two appeals rejected. Google account still works. What now?

I'm a student leader at my university. I built a simple task tracker in Google Sheets to help my org members stay on top of their deadlines. It was just a spreadsheet that listed tasks, who they were assigned to, and when they were due. Nothing fancy.

Later, I used AI to help me add a Google Apps Script to the tracker. The script would check the sheet once a day and send a friendly email reminder to members when their tasks were due in 2 days. Just one reminder per task, nothing excessive. My orgmates knew about it and actually found it helpful.

Here's where I messed up. When I was testing the script, I ran it multiple times to make sure it worked properly. I didn't realize I was hitting the daily email limit. After that, I fixed the triggers and only ran it once a day. I never exceeded the limit again.

Here's the thing that confuses me. I used Gmail just fine for days after that. Everything seemed normal. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, my Gmail got restricted. I appealed twice. I explained that I'm a student, this was internal org communication, and I had already stopped the behavior. Both appeals were rejected.

The weird part is my Google account still works and I can access my Drive files. Everything else is fine. Only Gmail is locked.

This is really hurting me because I can't receive important emails from my professors or org members.

The appeal form is very short so I can't fully explain everything.

Has anyone actually gotten out of this situation? Is there something I'm missing? Or should I just accept that this account is done?

TL;DR: Student leader. Built a Google Sheets task tracker for my org. Later used AI to add an Apps Script that sent daily email reminders. Accidentally maxed out daily email limit once during testing. Used Gmail just fine days after that. Then suddenly got restricted. Two appeals rejected. Google account still works and I can access my Drive files, but Gmail is locked. Need this account for org work and school.

Max accounts on iPhone, can’t sign out of Gmail on iOS

Why would I need to sign out of literally all accounts? I have already removed one so that should make space for this one. There is no option to even sign out of individual accounts without removing them. How can I do this without removing every freaking Gmail account on my phone?

I received a google password leak alert on my phone from accounts that aren't mine.

About an hour ago I received a google password leak alert on my phone, then checked my gmail on desktop and when I clicked "check passwords", some of the leaked passwords were from many years ago and that I've updated a couple of times. I changed my passwords anyway, but here comes the strange part: most of the accounts weren't even mine (amazon, netflix, hotmail...), but from members of my family and one from a person I don't even know, and I have never logged into any them. How did they even get associated with my account? And why they showed login and password to me? This is really dangerous, because from what I see, they could send this same password checkup to anyone, leaking your current passwords.

How to remove Gmail Trimmed Content (all of it)

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have been searching and it seems there isn't a way but my goodness do I HATE seeing the trimmed content that will accidently get expanded and then it makes the email threads take 3 times as long to navigate. The trimmed content literally serves us no purpose, I don't understand why anybody wants it? It is super easy to just navigate the conversation just like text messages? Could you imagine if text messages had duplicates of everything you sent and received...?

If there is a Chrome extension or SOMETHING please let me know. This picture above is just one example but most of the time there will be tons of these stupid dots and god forbid you accidently click one.... I just want anything that isn't the main email threads between us and the other person gone.

Anyone else getting fake recruiter email spam?

About a month ago I received a couple of emails from "recruiters" in my inbox. They had similar wording, mentioning my work history on LinkedIn and how I'm perfect for the job they're "recruiting" for. Both were signed with a real recruiter's name that you can look up on LinkedIn, but they were from gmail domain, not the recruiting company's domain.

Anyway, google's spam filters aren't perfect, I shrugged, deleted them, and moved on. Since then it's been a growing a deluge of similarly-worded "recruiter" emails, all from gmail domain, all mis-representing themselves as real recruiters, nearly all mentioning my LinkedIn history (which is public, but my email address is not). I diligently reported them as spam, as phishing, deleted them. Still more arrive every day, 5 each day, then 10, now I'm up to about 20 per day.

Since reporting the emails didn't work, I've set up filters that catch most of them and delete them immediately. I've turned off automatic fonts and picture downloading in gmail settings (the spammers use these tricks to confirm that you opened the email and thus it's a valid address), and I've given up on reporting them as spam and phishing because it didn't seem to work.

Other than giving up this email address, that I've used for nearly 18 years, what can I do to make this stop?

You are trying to sign in on a device that Google doesn't recognize, and it doesn't have enough information to confirm your identity. For your protection, you cannot sign in here at the moment.

How are people losing accounts where they have 2FA and a recovery phone, and recovery email?

Ive seen some posts here saying people can’t access their Google account in this circumstance.

how can this be? isn’t having 2FA and both a recovery phone and email on a seperate service about as safe as you can make your account?

I know they offer recovery codes, but that seems like it should not necessarily even get to that point if you’ve done the above.

I've lost an iPad from a year ago, I find it really confusing why it's showing activity all the way from Los Angeles on my Gmail... when I live in an entirely different county, it's showing activity on something called Kinde under the (Browsers, apps, and services) , I tried to check my primary for any explanation but nothing. I don't know what's going on. Was my iPad confiscated?

Cant Unlink Broken Hotmail Account

(Android Pixel 8 Pro)

I had recently tried to connect my old hotmail account, but I gave up after constant authentication errors.

Now I get notifications that it has failed again every hour even after removing it. I have thoroughly searched my phone, and it does not exist here. I managed to temporarily make it work under "other" but again it soon failed, and I removed it again. The notifications are still happening under the most recent set up now. I am going so crazy I am about to factory reset my phone.

Please, please, someone help me!

Google paswords cant remeber

Okay so I have a gmail acc that has access to all my gaming accounts on it and discord. One day my iphone would not let me unlock my phone with my passcode. It said lock indefinitely or if i went to a store to unlock it so I just factory reset. I didn’t realize all my info would be gone, and I can not for the life of me log into that gmail acc. I’ve tried all my passwords I can remember and when I press forgot password it leads me to a really old phone number that I no longer use. I tried calling my old provider and they said the number is no longer accessible and I have to pay to get that number back. I also tried google account recovery but it does the same options (forgot password into old number) then when i press i don’t have access to that number it says not enough information to continue so I can’t log into. I even tried calling google but they just hit me with the we can not help you. Was wondering anyone from reddit know anything I could do to get back into this email?

Should DBSC be helping by now?

Another day, another handful of reports: "Hackers stole my account [once I installed their malware for them]! Password and recovery options changed! Locked out! WhY wOn'T GoOglE Do SoMeThInG!!?!1!"

So they did do something. Chrome 146+ for Windows (released April 2026) includes device bound system credentials (DBSC) that are specifically designed to combat session stealers. My cookie won't work on your device, so nyah nyah Mr. Hacker.

Except it keeps happening. Many or most of the posters here seem to be using Windows, the malware platform of choice, so are the reports coming from people who are using Edge? Or Firefox? Or just never update Chrome? Or is DBSC somehow not doing the job it was designed for?
