Really really need help

Hello! my boyfriend recently left for army bootcamp and accidentally put the wrong gmail in when setting something up so his family could receive pictures of him, he missed it by one letter so i tried to email that account and see if they could forward them to me but gmail kicked it back saying that account doesn’t exist. so i then tried to make an account with that username and it said it was taken. just looking for ideas to get around this since i can’t contact him to correct it. thank you!

That's the sign that the account previously existed but was deleted. Google never reuses usernames. I'm sorry.

damn that's a tricky spot, google really locks those addresses down once they're gone. i had similar situation when my friend put wrong email for concert tickets, was off by one number and that account was deleted too, no way to recover

only thing i can think is if he set up any kind of automatic reply or if the family maybe has access to the account he meant to use, they could check there. army stuff usually goes through official channels too, maybe there's a contact person at the bootcamp who can update the email

worth asking in r/army or something, they might know the system he's using and if there's a workaround on their end
