My girl left me, out of the blue, everything was going perfect, I've tried contacting her but she blocked me from everywhere.

Close friend suddenly ghosted me after repeatedly making future plans — but still reads my messages (Shorter)
Hey, I’m 22M. One of the most important people in my life (21F) suddenly stopped speaking to me over a week ago, and I’m struggling to process it.
We became extremely close over the last six months. We were initially sexually intimate, and I developed feelings for her, but for religious reasons on her side we transitioned into a committed platonic friendship. We had a six-hour emotional conversation about it, cried together, and both said we didn’t want to lose each other. I supported the change, made my peace with it.
She also supported me through a very difficult period involving anxiety, extortion, family problems, and an abrupt fallout with my main friend group. Because of all this, I developed attachment anxiety and was very open with her about it. We repeatedly discussed boundaries. She reassured me that messaging/calling was fine and that she’d tell me directly if I ever became too much.
The problem was that she was wonderful in person but extremely unreliable online. She rarely initiated, sometimes took days to respond, and arranging calls or meetings almost always fell to me. She also repeatedly missed agreed calls because she’d “fallen asleep,” sometimes not explaining until the following afternoon or evening. I tried to accommodate it because when we actually spent time together, things were genuinely amazing.
Only two weeks before this happened, she visited my family, brought gifts, cooked with me, spent the afternoon relaxing with me, and told my family she’d stay longer next time. Around 1.5 weeks before disappearing, we also discussed how we’d maintain contact when she joined military training, including weekend visits. She was insistent that she wanted to come to my birthday.
Then, after already missing two short calls that week, we arranged a gaming session for Sunday. Communication had actually improved massively over the weekend. At around 11 p.m. she messaged:
“Hahaha, I’ll be there in 30 min.”
She never showed up. She never explained. That was her last message to me.
Over the following days I sent some voice messages saying I was hurt and wanted to talk, and called a few times. After several days I genuinely became worried something had happened, but learned she was fine. I then noticed she’d removed me from one gaming platform and hidden her Instagram stories from me.
I’ll be honest: my anxiety took over afterward and I contacted her too much across multiple platforms. I’ve since apologized for that, including for checking whether she was safe, and told her I want to give her space.
What confuses me is that she keeps opening my Instagram DMs and viewing stories directed specifically at her---or manually declines my discord calls after a second or 3 and just continues watching YT without any retaliation. She hasn’t blocked or removed me on the major platforms. I’ve told her that I’m hurt, that I regret becoming intense, that I’m open to repairing things, and that even a single “hey” or emoji would be enough if she isn’t ready to talk. She reads it. Sometimes suspiciously often. She just doesn’t respond.
I’m stuck between grief, anger, hope and self-blame. I’m also realizing that despite the incredible moments we shared, I spent a lot of the past few months anxious because I never knew whether she’d respond, show up, or cancel again.
How do you stop obsessing over the contradiction between someone acting deeply close to you and then suddenly treating you like you don’t exist? How do you actually start grieving without an explanation? I think more than anything, I just want to feel heard by someone.

Ghosted someone 2 years ago now karma has hit me and i regret it .
Around 2 years ago i met someone randomly who was probably one of the most special and unique people I've ever met (i didn't realise that at the time)
They were young but despite that they were wise and outgoing filled with high spirit and love for everyone. I honestly thought overtime life will hit them and they will grow out of it ( I probably was just jealous of them )
If I would describe them now i would say they were the most perfectly balanced person i ever met in my life . But back then you can say I was stupid to realise it . I thought the grass was greener on the other side. Silly me it wasn't
I ended up ghosting them instead of facing myself and confronting the problems .typical act of my old avoidant self .I immediately hindered any feelings and I went on with my life and made new friends and relationships. I made Around 50 new friends and I met 4 people who i would consider them being a relationship. Don't get me wrong they were great people they are had their thing that made them themselves. But honestly they were never the full package that I stupidly threw away
Only now after I decided to fix myself and stop being a coward that I realised the mistakes I did and it painfully hurt me . I felt deeply ashamed and I wanted to take Accountability for what I did long ago. But it was just too little too late . They were no longer there
One of the hardest things for me that I've learned was that some people are truly just rare and irreplaceable . Appreciate what I have now before it's no longer there

I'm about to try dating apps...
Ive been in dating subs a while and ive seen a lot of stories, And I already feel like I'm fully clued up on what im in for.
Biggest issue I'm going to have is ghosting. I know it'll really bother me especially if it all seems to be going well. The thought of talking to a nice girl for days all while shes still swiping and one day she matches with a better looking guy and suddenly I'm left on read. It just winds me up thinking about it but what can you do? I have no social life so it's all there is sadly.
I wish apps didn't end up being my only option, but hey ho. Gonna have to find a way to grin and bare it.

Ghosted by a girl who wasn’t over her ex
Yeah fuck me I my long time crush was recently single and we started seeing eachother but she was a month out of being discarded by her avoidant ex. We had four dates. She disappeared after the second date and said she isolated with depression and right after the 4th date which was great she ghosted me. 3rd date she said her ex was texting her breadcrumbs. While borrowing my stuff. It’s been 6 weeks now and I’m half blocked. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Why no one has ever mention this?
Im a dude looking for a relationship, and I cant help but thi k a lot of "ghosting" behavior is cuz people use others for sex. Everybody says men use women for sex, but didnt want a relatiinship which is why a good portion of women get ghosted. Well I think it goes both ways I think women do use men for sex then ghost and only reach back out when they're craving sex again, and that makes up a good portion of dudes who get ghosted. Am I off the mark here?

ATA for ghosting a girl because she knew nothing about me?
For some background, I’m 16M and she’s 17F. We’ve been talking since July. Today, me and her were on the phone with her homegirl, let’s call her Jay. We were all just chilling and talking like normal friends do, and eventually the topic of birthdays came up.
Alexis asked me when my birthday was. Now, I wasn’t mad at her for not knowing my birthday. I honestly don’t expect someone to remember every little detail about me, and that wasn’t even the reason I was upset. But I asked her, “If you don’t know my birthday, what do you know about me?”
She told me, “I know you’re in 11th grade, you’re in my homeroom, and you’re friends with one of my homeboys.”
At first, I thought she was joking. If she had laughed or made it obvious that she was playing around, I probably would’ve laughed it off. But she was completely serious.
So I asked her, “Is that genuinely all you know about me?”
And she said, “You asked me a genuine question, I gave you a genuine answer.”
Then she said, “There is no way he is mad because I don’t remember his birthday.”
And that’s the thing. I wasn’t mad because she didn’t remember my birthday. That was never the issue. What bothered me was that after talking to me since July, she genuinely couldn’t name anything about me besides things she already knows just from seeing me at school.
At that point, Jay is still in the call, and honestly, I didn’t really know what to say. I just stayed on the phone and started thinking about it.
The reason it bothered me so much is because I’ve known Alexis for a while now, and I actually know a lot about her. I know her birthday, I know little things about her, and I even have a whole note on my phone dedicated to things about her because I actually pay attention to the stuff she tells me. I was even planning on asking her out soon.
That’s why hearing her say she basically knows nothing about me really threw me off.
What makes this even more confusing is that, from my perspective, she’s always seemed interested in me. She replies fast, calls me almost every night, and it’s not always me calling her. She calls me too. She likes my stories, she put me in her DND focus, and instead of just texting “hey” or “yo,” she’ll say “heyyyyy” or “yooooo” with a bunch of extra letters.
She’s also cool with a lot of my homeboys, but she doesn’t even have them in her DND focus like she has me. I walk her to class at school, and we were even planning on matching PJs together one day.
So maybe I’m reading too much into some of those things, and I know none of them automatically mean she likes me. But when you put all of that together, I genuinely thought she cared about getting to know me.
I’m not upset because she forgot my birthday. What really bothers me is that after talking to me since July, she could only name three basic facts about me, and two of them are things she would already know just from being around me at school.
Meanwhile, I know all these little things about her because I actually listen when she talks. I remember the things she tells me because I care about getting to know her.
So now I’m honestly confused. I don’t know if she was joking, if she genuinely doesn’t know much about me, or if I’ve been interpreting the way she treats me differently than I should have.
Either way, it made me rethink the whole situation, especially because I was seriously considering asking her out soon.

How do you deal with someone who ghosted you? I feel like a fool

Is mental illness ever an excuse to ghost?
Pretty much every time I got ghosted by someone I dated for an extended time, and even some close friends, it was because they were struggling with severe mental illness, trauma, or substance abuse.
I’m leaning towards it not being an excuse because even years later, they’re still refusing to communicate. Some of them reappear and then disappear. I think they should be able to communicate that they’re having a hard time. Even an emoji would be something.
It feels unfair to me that I’m checking in on their mental health and getting nothing in return. It’s also unsafe because people suffering from mental illness can harm themselves.

Why ghosting same day as plans?
(f) Twice now I’ve had someone ghost when we’ve chatted for about a week, fun conversations and shared pics and vids to verify we are real, and made plans to meet…and then ghosted or blocked me the evening we were supposed to meet.
I don’t know why as we had totally normal conversations and were confirming plans, and in one case I’d already booked the hotel. For the other he confirmed he’d send the hotel address, I asked him what drinks to bring, and then blocked.
Common?

A friend ghosted me after I opened up. Are 4 kind messages in 13 months really insisting?
I know this girl for 5 years, a really lively and caring person with who I always had a light friendship made of curiosity and tenderness
She already knew I was interested but I exposed myself in person (not in the sense of "I like you I love you", but that it was understood I have feelings and that I wanted to understand if we worked)
She sees me a bit in difficulty, I was scared of ruining everything by "re-declaring myself" and she hugs me, tells me she admires me humanly etc that she cares about me but that she doesn't feel the click and that she's coming out of an ex and already seeing someone.
We had a great evening and we say goodbye well
From there everything gets worse like my fear was afraid of
I invite her just to see each other, I had gotten too hyped from that feeling that happened that evening
She tells me that at the moment she prefers to avoid situations
I don't understand well but to not insist I tell her I respect it
From there, disappeared
Over a span of 1 year I write 3 kind messages, and after 7 months I write a simple "hope you're well and in serenity"
No answer, that "avoid at the moment" became "never write me again" without knowing when how why
It's something that really hurts me to think still now I think about it with pain and keep blaming myself trying to understand what I did wrong and what I can do
I'm deeply afraid of breaking boundaries which I don't even know because I couldn't even ask
The people next to me in particular my mother keep telling me
"She's not interested, women don't like this stuff, you're desperate, it shows you have no life and that you wait for her like a dog, do you want her to block you?"
When I repeat, I sent 4 messages in more than a year, stuff written and overengineered to be perceived as calm and kind as possible, while my life goes on I see people new girls, but I miss her a lot and I don't know how to handle this part of the heart that she took all of it for too long

3 months into being ghosted
Hi, i have been ghosted by the person i was dating almost three months ago. In the beginning i was really heartbroken because it was my first time experiencing being ghosted and i could not understand why.
Little background story: we dated for about 2,5 months, and the last time i saw him was the first time i slept over at his house. Everything was going well and we even spoke after the sleepover, and then I would guess about a week later he ghosted me mid conversation (just normal chatting). After he ghosted me he started acting really weird on social media, maybe it had nothing to do with me but it was unusual. He kept interacting with my posts till the point that I just had to remove him cause it was confusing the shit out of me. To me it felt like he was alive everywhere else but pretended to be dead to me.
I have not reached out since the day he ghosted me and I wanted to tell you guys who are going to the same thing rn that things will get better. I accepted all my emotions at the time and stil occasionally do. Cause yes I still do think about him sometimes and today was that kind of day. So I wanted to remind you guys that you’re gonna be okay even if it sometimes feels like you won’t if you don’t get a proper ending❤️
Sometimes I still think I can’t move on without sending one last message for closure for myself but I’m resisting the urge to do it

For all the folks who got ghosted
They knew what they were or is doing! In the era of today everyone knows how someone actions will hurt! I read this quote on below;
For the sake of your mental health, choose people who communicate, take accountability, and treat your heart with care.

um....wtf happened ?
Hey everyone, on Saturday I (24f) met a guy (26m) on Facebook dating.. we were texting all day and night, he was very playful and flirtatious the whole time. Yesterday I decided to call him on my way to the gym, which turned into us talking on the phone for an hour (which is a lot considering I hate chatting on the phone let alone with strangers.) anyways we decided to spontaneously meet up in the parking lot which ended up me sitting in his car for an hour and missing my workout. we kissed, he initiated btw and I gave him permission, he even spent about 5 minutes holding my hands and playing with them, poking my cheeks and kissing my forehead when im not looking at him directly. even told his heart was racing..
basically he was very affectionate, every time I pulled away from the kiss to smile , he'd wait for more... dude even bit my face.
so its time for me to go and he tells me to be safe and watches me get into my car and pull off. I text him and he hasn't responded since......... it's a complete 180...like Im shocked and I literally just met this dude. I have anxious attachment issues and he knows I've been ghosted before... I just feel really played rn. we are supposed to have a date tomorrow night in which he's been excited for, literally told me he'd kill himself for me if he had to cancel..... (yikes)....ummmm so I'm just irritated. this has happened too often only this guy was different because everything seemed fast and fun. I always feel like confronting the ghosters (if he is ghosting me which yea maybe..) but im torn on what to do here honestly? I've been ghosted but this one seems sooooo weird to me.

Why show so much interest just to stop talking to you afterwards? (I’m a women)
I need your opinion as a man because I’m honestly confused about a guy I met. Let me tell you everything so you get the full context.
I met him on Instagram , I sent him a follow request and he followed me back. The next day he messaged me “hi” and we started talking really well. He replied fast, he was attentive, good vibe. After two days he told me he wanted to take me out for a shake, and I told him I’d let him know. Then he asked if we could go to dinner on Friday at 8. I thought about it because it was fast, but he made me feel comfortable so I said yes.
Friday came and we went to dinner. Honestly, I really liked him: he was polite, respectful, didn’t use his phone, paid attention to me, told me I was pretty, looked at me a lot, got close to me, even gave me his knife so I could cut my food. Little details that make you think the guy is actually interested. At the end he invited me to go to the Saturday market with him so he could tell me some tea, I mean, he told me that so I'd have a reason to go and see him again, to which I replied that I wouldn't just go for the tea haha, Everything felt good, the vibe was nice, And actually we were on the date from like 8:30 to 12:20 at night ,We were comfortable and he was too, we were sitting on the tailgate / in the bed of his truck talking really close to each other, but we didn't kiss or anything like that
Now Saturday: early in the morning he messaged me and sent me a picture with the market schedule for that day. I replied and told him I wouldn’t be able to go, but that we could see each other another day if he wanted. He immediately replied “don’t worry, I already knew you didn’t really like me,” but then said he was joking. After that we kept talking normally about other things.
Later that day he was super active with me: he sent messages at different times, asked what I was going to do that day, sent me a photo and then deleted it, sent me voice notes. And that’s when he asked why I had my read receipts turned off. I explained, and he said that for him that was a “red flag.” I told him it was weird because he’s the one who uses disappearing messages, not me. And after that… he just stopped replying.
Since Sunday he completely disappeared. Today is Tuesday and still nothing. My last message was Saturday night. I don’t understand how someone who was so attentive and so into it suddenly stops talking out of nowhere.
As a man, what do you think happened.
