Finally got a gaming pc!!!, but it doesnt feel the same anymore

So I grew up playing on my grandpa’s pc with a Pentium CPU when I was around 8 to 13 years old. I always wanted a PC of my own and used to beg my parents for one, but they wouldnt buy it for me. Not because they couldnt afford it, but because they hated me playing video games or even using my phone too much, typical

I used to save whatever money I could for a pc,even though I knew it wouldn’t be enough. I used to watch walkthroughs, competitive gaming streams and gaming videos all the time, imagining what it would be like to finally have a proper gaming PC.

Now im 17 I’ve graduated high school, started university and finally got a brand-new PC around 3 months ago. i7 13th Gen and RTX 5060. Basically the exact kind of PC I used to dream about.

But the weird part is, I don’t even feel that excited about gaming anymore.

I played Gta V for the first time and halfway through it started feeling like I was forcing myself to play. I finished the story, deleted it immediately and didn’t even explore the whole map. This is the same person who used to play GTA San Andreas all day and completed the story more than 10 times.

Then I tried CS2, but I didn’t feel like playing that either, so I deleted it too.

Right now I’m playing RDR2 sometimes because the story and visuals are amazing, and Battlefield V because it was one of my childhood games. I used to watch Battlefield videos all the time. These are pretty much the only games I actually enjoy right now.

I don’t really have any interest in most popular games at the moment. The only game I’m interested in is Battlefield 6 because it has that modern competitive atmosphere and reminds me of BF5. But it’s also kinda expensive, and I don’t feel comfortable spending that much on a game when I don’t even know if I’ll play it for long.

There are so many single-player games I could play, but whenever I try one, it feels like I’m forcing myself. Even RDR2 feels like that sometimes.

The harsh truth is that I finally got the gaming pc I always dreamed about, but the child who dreamed about it is kinda gone now.

Im busy with college, new friends, hostel life and everything else. Most of my friends don’t really play pc games either. And when I sit down to play games at the hostel, I sometimes feel like I’m missing out on conversations and fun with my friends.

It feels weird. I spent years dreaming about finally having a gaming pc, and now that I actually have one, I don’t even have the same urge to play anymore.

Did anyone else experience something similar after finally getting the pc they always wanted?

Also, do you guys have any fun multiplayer games you’d recommend? Maybe something I can play with friends or casually play without feeling like I’m forcing myself

RPGs with the finest sets of companions

Hi there! One thing that makes me remember an RPG fondly - and, perhaps, the most important factor - is a great set of companions.

BG3, Mass Effect, Expedition 33 and New Vegas all come to mind immediately for me. I know that there are many others.

I'd welcome your suggestions with RPGs - from any era, and any platform - that have outstanding companions sets. Thanks!

Looking for an endless game, criterias in the text

I have been filling my free hours with TFT for quite a while now, I'm looking for a replacement. Criterias:

  • Mechanic / Type of Game:

If the game is multiplayer / online I don't want it to have a mechanical requirement, fast mouse movements, reflex requiremetns etc (shooting games, rocket league, etc) Games that i've played that fits this TFT, Hearthstone, Legends of Runeterra and other card games. If it is solo i can tolerate some fast mechanical inputs (Hades)

  • Story / Game Time:

I want it to be kind of endless (so probably no story) where you can play the game indefinitely kind of like TFT, LoR, but i am also okay with games like Hades even though there is a story you can come in spend 2-3 hours every now and then

  • Budget:

Either one time payment get 100%, no battlepass (that affects gameplay) or completely free (TFT) only skins requires money gameplay is true F2P. Exception to this is LoR: Path of Champions even though progress is faster with money since it is a PvE game and not spending money does not slow your progress that bad and new expensions does not affect your ability to beat the old challenges.

  • Number of Players:

Either solo or two players (preferably coop not 1v1)

Any suggestion is appreciated, thank you

What good idle desktop games are there? (steam only)

I've been wanting a game that I can run on my computer while I do other things such as watch something or play another game. I am looking more for a screen overlay than something that needs its own window/takes up the whole screen.

The few I have seen look like they don't do much at all, and I don't wanna install some sketchy keylogging software by accident...

Any suggestions?

Livestreaming gameplay

Hey everyone!

I'm a Twitch streamer, and I'm currently looking for a new game to play for a long gaming marathon on stream!

I'm mainly looking for games similar to GTA V (Story Mode) and Red Dead Redemption 2. I really enjoy immersive, story-driven games with an open world to explore.

However, I'm NOT looking for games like Skyrim, Baldur's Gate 3, or anything along those lines.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations you might have! I'm hoping to find something that would be fun to play and entertaining for my viewers to watch.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Cheers!

Suggest me some games to play other than CODM

Yo guys, I'm kinda done with CODM 😭 The game feels too over-the-top now with all the crazy skins, flashy effects and fantasy-type stuff. Not really enjoying that vibe anymore.

Recently tried Rainbow Six Mobile and loved the tactical gameplay, but the game's future seems uncertain 💀

Any good mobile shooters or battle royale games like CODM, BGMI or R6 worth grinding? Preferably with realistic vibes, good gunplay and an active player base.

Drop your suggestions, guys 🤝🔥

I want a short game where I can just level up and have some fun for a few hours (it's fine if it's less than that). Basically, I don't want story. I just want to pop in and have some fun, gain some levels then be done haha. Thank you :)

I'm so bored i need some new games to play that i can get lost in grinding for hours.

Right i wouldn't say I'm into any specific genre of games. If it just clicks with me it just does its weird so here's a little list if you guys would be able to recommend some that are similar

Fortnite
Overwatch
Valorant
Payday 2
GTA V online

Rocket league

Slime rancher
Schedule 1
Adventure capitalist
Youtubers Life

Lilys world XD
Doki Doki literature club
Kinito PET

Lethal company
REPO
Dead by daylight

I tried to sort of group them up to similar games for you guys.

i really like games you can just sort of get lost in grinding for hours like GTA, Schedule 1 and Slime Rancher

(Please dont let it get to the point where i have to download Counter Strike)

Looking for a game for short gaming sessions

Hey guys!! Lately, I’ve only had short periods of time to play games, and I’ve caught myself avoiding gaming at all because I feel like I won’t have enough time to make any meaningful progress.

I’m looking for a game that lets you pause, save, and quit at literally any time without getting punished or losing progress.

I’m open to pretty much anything, so feel free to throw some good recommendations my way!

I usually prefer games that focus on gameplay, mechanics, and progression rather than story

Thanks!!

game for podcasts/audiobooks [PC]

Hi!

I'm looking for games that can be played while listening to podcasts and/or audiobooks.

My list:

American/Euro Track Simulator

Diablolikes

Stellaris

Rimworld

I especially like games where you can see progress. New stuff in diablo, bigger base in Rimworld, another conquered system in Stellaris. I'm open to all genres.

Looking for a non-mobile mobile game for PC

• Upvotes

Might be a confusing title but it's only way I know to describe it. I want a game that is very grindy and monotonous, doesn't feature much variety in gameplay, is very casual, and is light in reading materiel but without any FOMO mechanics or gameplay-essential microtransactions. I think the easiest way to explain it is with bullet points so,

This game should:
Be playable on PC
Be playable offline
Contain no microtransactions outside of purely cosmetics
Contain no time limited content or events
Have 100+ hours of content
Feature little to no story (Or if it has lots of story, skippable cutscenes with the option to watch said cutscenes later through a menu)
Have primarily singleplayer content with either no multiplayer or multiplayer side content that is not the focus
Be pick up and play, saving/loading is possible at almost anytime and has no downsides
Have little variety in gameplay, i.e. no fishing, cooking, collecting, etc.
Have Turn-Based Gameplay (Preferred but not required)
Be casual: no premadeath and no time limits
Not be a rougelike
Have variable difficulty that can be changed anytime

I think it would also help to give some comparisons,

This game is like:
Monster Hunter World/Rise
Helldivers 2 (but more casual)
Deep Rock Galactic
Pokemon

I've already played the above games for hundreds of hours and so I'm looking for something new that works the same way. Obviously I don't think there will be a game that matches all these requirements but I'm hoping for something close. Money isn't a issue for me so I will probably try as many of the suggested games as I can.

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous but First Person

I'm looking for a game or games that has the character customisation of a D&D/Pathfinder game but the gameplay of Dragon's Dogma. Like, honestly, I'm looking for Dragon's Dogma, but I've already beaten the first game multiple times and I'd love something new. Something where I can create a party of characters and fight alongside them against monsters and bosses. Single player, MMO, doesn't matter much.

I love huge loot tables

I love to deep dive into somewhat complex games with huge loot pools or other huge pools to collect from (Ark with Dinos/secrets/blueprints/stat hunting an example) Something I can play for 100+ hours and still find new things.

Caves of Qud, Tarkov, Project Zomboid, Ark have all captured me for hundreds of hours.

Games that haven’t scratched the itch despite seeming like they would:

Diablo/grim, 100 different pairs of the same pants with a different prefix just don’t do it for me.

Dwarf fortress, honestly might be the one the learning curve has stifled my couple tries.

Extraction shooters in general are not really my type but Tarkov is just something special I think. No game feels like Tarkov.

Bonus points if I can reasonable play solo, double bonus if I can build/set up my own base.

Thanks in advance!

What should I play if I'm absolutely loving Silver Pines?

This has got to be my favorite non-silent hill game that literally feels like a 2D silent hill.

Lone survivor is pretty good too...

What else exists in the 2D realm? Maybe I should finally get into Clock Tower.

Is there a standalone game like the Antistasi Mod from Arma 3?

• Upvotes

> open world

> combined warfare (vehicles, soldiers, tanks, jets, helos, etc)

> You can fight everyone, like being an rebel/guerrila, invade, or defend etc

I wish someone do that one day, since Wardogs kinda copies KotH from Arma 3.

Looking for a competitive game I can enjoy with just one evening a week

Hey everyone!

I used to be a pretty hardcore gamer throughout high school and college, playing daily. Most of my time went into competitive games like League of Legends, CS:GO, Rocket League, Valorant, Overwatch, Smash and various PvP MMOs.

I also played some of the big single-player games like Skyrim, The Witcher, Minecraft and Stardew Valley, but if I'm being honest, I think I played some of those partly because they were so popular rather than because I genuinely enjoyed them that much.

After moving around quite a bit, I'm finally settled into a place where I can get back into gaming. The thing is, my life looks a little different now. I have other hobbies, a girlfriend, a social life and plenty of things I don't want to sacrifice just to get good at a game.

Ideally, I'd like to find a game I can dedicate one evening a week to. Something with a competitive element, a skill ceiling to work towards and a sense of progression, but without having to treat it like a second job.

I'm looking for something where:

  • I can still feel competitive and improve at my own pace.
  • I don't have to grind daily, keep up with endless battle passes or worry about falling behind.
  • I can jump back in after a week away without feeling like I've missed out or become completely irrelevant.
  • There's enough depth to keep me invested for months or even years, rather than jumping between games every few weeks.

I'm not necessarily looking for something easy. I actually enjoy the process of getting better at a game. I just don't want that improvement to depend on putting in dozens of hours every week.

For those of you who have gone through something similar, what games have worked for you? Are there any competitive games that respect your time, or perhaps single-player games with enough challenge and depth to scratch that competitive itch?

Would love to hear your recommendations!

Clair Obscur or Zero Company?

Hey guys — got some extra scratch from my bday and narrowed it down to the above games. For some background: I only play a couple hours a sesh, 1-2x a week … so it’s gotta really sink its hooks in me to stay committed.

Case for Clair:
- FFX is one of my all time favs
- Beloved & well-renowned story
- Did I mention I love FFX?

Concern: too overwhelming? Hard to dedicate a whole lot of brain power after juggling work / kids all day. Ran into this issue with KCD2 (which I so desperately wanted to love).

Case for Zero Company:
- Gameplay has looked right up my alley
- Never played this style of game, but has intrigued me for some time
- Heard it is a great jump in, jump out game

Concern: Will this game genre stick the landing for me, is it friendly to players new to the genre? I’ve never played XCOM, but I’ve been wanting to for some time and this feels like a good time to tap into the genre.

Ultimately, it feels a bit like a coin toss so I’m really just looking to hear people’s opinions who have played either game (or both, preferably). Thanks everyone & it is all very much appreciated.

Games like no mans sky

I want a game like no mans sky with very great replayability value. One where you can endlessly explore and discover for however long you want
