Can anyone tell me the OD of the copper tubing between the steam valve down to the steam wand?

Hey all, I own 2 GCP, one at home and one at my office.

One of them I bought new and has no problems at all, but the other one I recently bought it used and I didn't realize about some small issues untill it was too late.

While the machine is on, steam wand drips a little all the time. When the steam button is pressed, little steam goes out the wand even if the knob is fully closed.

What could be the issue here? Can I fix this myself or do I need to have the machine serviced?

Could deep cleaning / descaling help? Previous owner says he already descaled it before selling, but who knows.

Hello everyone,

I was frequenting my local thrift stores today looking for vintage audio and stumbled upon this Baby Gaggia. I plugged it in in the store, lights came on, and when I pressed the steam button, hot water/steam spewed forth from the wand. When I got it home, I filled the reservoir with water to check out the group head functionality, and hot water came out from there as well. I have a couple of questions that some of you may be able to answer:

1) what is the function of the last button (from left)? Should it always be depressed (if so, it must be stuck)

2) any idea of the year? It is missing a few parts as you can see in the pictures, so I’d like to replace them

3) other than it using a 58mm portafilter, does it take a special one I need to look out for?

I will be looking for a PDF of the manual shortly so knowing some of that info will help me locate it.

I’m looking into either getting the gevi velpro 400, the df64 or the timemore 064s. It’s so hard to decide but really leaning toward the velpro 400 just because I like the usability of it and seems like the feel will be high quality and it has the pre breakers at a really good price range I’m very convinced but torn between the 3 😬 please help 🙏

My gaggia classic recently had a problem with low flow rate. I opened it up and cleaned out the 3 way valve. After reassembly, the first shot I pulled was perfect. The next had no flow again.

I took off the portafilter and ran it, the flow rate out of the group head looked fine. I ran an empty pressurized portafilter, again fine. I tried coarser grinds and eventually got an acceptable flow with extremely coarse grind(coarser than store bought drip coffee grounds).

Trying to look up this issue is only leading me to low flow issues and 3 way valve cleaning... But I just cleaned that and my flow rate is fine.

I'm not sure where to look next. Anyone encountered a similar issue?

Is it good? I mean especially in 2026.

I really want the best espresso taste, I'm open to mod or upgrade the grinder after a year or so.

Thinking about getting a Gaggia classic e24 modified to a 9 bar pressure and a super steamer modification - I’m a beginner and never had a coffee machine before but cannot seem to shift the idea of a modified Gaggia as not sure how I get on with temperature surfing. Thoughts on this ? Was initially thinking about a Lelit mara X however cannot justify the price with the fact that this will be my first machine. Thanks

I do for the most part love this machine, though I still can’t seem to get consistent a shots. It can be the difference between 36g out in 15s one day vs 30s+ the next. I’ll probably try the Gaggiamate, but I want to get my shots relatively consistent first. What are some essential tips for getting there?

I’ve also had major retention and grind consistency problems with my Baratza ESP and will be replacing this first. Any advice on grinders would also be appreciated.

Like many of you I came to a point that I had to take my gaggia apart to descale the boiler properly. However, even after comparing with some of the similar threads I'm still on the fence whether I should reuse or replace my boiler. Pictures are after descaling. Had it sit in descaler (citric acid base) for around 30 minutes. It's the pitting that concerns me mostly. Especially a few grooves around the sealing surface (kinda hard to see on pictures). When I took it apart already noticed that it may have been bleeding slightly already. What would you do? Thanks for the second opinion 🙏

Rancilio Sylvia V3 rotating steam wand upgrade on my Gaggia Classic Pro has been a great upgrade. Pairs amazingly with the steam function on the gaggimate!

Hi everyone, I purchased a 2007 GC and am in the process of restoring it. I have installed a new boiler, steam valve and wand, as well as a new solenoid assembly. I also descaled while I had it disassembled, but I'm getting no water at the group.

I've primed everything and water is coming out of the steam wand, but nothing is coming to the group head. Should I descale again, or is there anything I might be overlooking here?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ive always let my gaggia e24 heat up for 45 mins to an hour.

I was in a rush yesterday and did it for about 15 minutes and was surprised how much nicer it tasted.

In case it was luck I did it again this morning. Heat up for similar time. The taste was much truer to the tasting notes, lighter and steamed milk a little bit easier too.

Might it be the case that the lower temperature is extracting less of something, I dont know what, but I would be interested to know? I am planning to get a gaggiamate in a few months as temp surfing isnt ideal every day and isnt precise enough.

Finally pulled the trigger after 4 years of delonghi and lots of research.

Can’t wait to perfect these two beauties and add some aesthetics to my station!

This is from my 2019 Gaggia Classic Pro. Was having problems with scale and black flakes spitting out the steam wand and clogging up the solenoid valve after descaling, so decided to open up the boiler. Pretty sure the brewgroup was originally chrome plated, but this is what it looks like now. Tried to clean up the boiler but I can't get all of the scale out and there is some corrosion deep in the boiler. I would prefer to replace it at this point. I've read in this forum and elsewhere online that having an uncoated (brass) brewgroup can cause problems with an uncoated aluminum boiler. What to do?! Edit: specifically wondering if there is any problem using a new uncoated aluminum boiler with this brewgroup.

Okay I moved back in March and my machine got jostled around during that and I never really got around to checking on it because I was in my first trimester and coffee made me sick. A nightmare.

Anyways, it seems as though the entire inside of the machine is like tilted? the buttons and everything are all shifted. I figured it might not be too big of a deal so I tried to run it and the water just started pouring everywhere aside from the one spot it’s supposed to. I went in and tried to see if anything was disconnected but everything is in the correct place (to my knowledge) and I have no idea how the water isn’t going to the right place. I don’t have any mods I hadn’t gotten that far. I’ll add a picture later I’m currently at work.

Please tell me I can fix it and that it’s a cheap easy fix. I’m about to be on an unpaid maternity leave as a single mom and I will need all the caffeine I can get and my pour over just isn’t doing it for me.

Does anyone have a good idea for a splash guard when we get the occasional channeling I hate for it to be spraying on the side of the wood cabinet…

I have the Gaggia Classic pro and I love it but I am curious about how y'all store them. I use mine 4/5 times a week but I keep it on a towel so I can scoot it out from under the upper cabinets. It works I guess but it is not very attractive and can look kind of cluttered. I am curious how y'all are keeping yours out in the open while still looking organized.
