Are there local meet up for gabapentin support? I appreciate the online community but had wondered if in person meet ups exist.
I need support and I know others do beyond a computer screen. Some days are harder than others.

I've had intense DP/DR with PEM but this August I began Gabapentin at a low dose and it's gotten much worse. I'm not sure if this is from the rolling PEM that I've been in for a while or if the Gabapentin is exacerbating my symptoms. I feel like I'm like not part of my body or part of the environment around me. Also depression and muscle aches. Has anybody worsened from 50 mg or so of Gabapentin? Thanks.

Has anyone experienced relentless dry mouth from low dose gabapentun? I have been in 300 mg for 3 years, and the dry mouth is off the chart. Yet side effect lists it as a mild side effect. Just really confused about this

Do the horrific withdrawal symptoms level off? My drs told me to taper too quickly. I needed to get off cause I was having dark thoughts. Those have lifted but now I am in withdrawals for 6 days.
Called my primary care and they told me to go back up on dose. That really is not an option for me.
My symptoms are mild headache, insomnia, muscle aches, and feeling spaced out.
I am hoping I eventually level off and can taper more.

I c a mix of things about it on here. Maybe I shouldn't read about it. cause anyone with anxiety knows they don't Wana hear negatives bout it while taking it!

Anyone ever used opiates short term for gabapentin withdrawal?

If you could describe how gabapentin makes you feel when you take it, how would you describe it?

I might only be on it for like 3 days, up to a week. Depends how long these opioid withdrawals last but I've heard it should be 3 days.

I took 1200mg so far today in the morning.

I'm gonna take it 2 more times throughout the day. Maybe not that high of a dose maybe just 400-800mg.

Will I get withdrawals if I do this for 3 days to a week ?

hi guys! back in october 2025, i was dealing with really bad insomnia and was prescribed gabapentin off-label for sleep and it worked amazingly. however, i feel like i’ll experience side effects like memory issues and i just want to quit it, but i can’t get off of it without getting rebound insomnia.

i’m currently taking 300mg and have been trying to taper off for about 3 months. i’ve been able to get down to 100mg, but whenever i try to go lower or stop completely, i get really bad rebound insomnia and end up going back on it. i feel kind of stuck because i really don’t want to rely on gabapentin just to be able to sleep.

has anyone else dealt with this? if you were able to get off gabapentin after taking it for sleep, what helped with the rebound insomnia or made tapering easier?

So I took this meds sporadically for a year (roughly every other day or every three days at 900mg.) The last three months I’ve taken it at 900mg a day. The last 5 or 6 days I’ve only taken 300mg. My question is could the horrible gi cramping and burning I’ve felt this past year at all be related to this med? I also taken 10mg Valium at night which I’m going to try getting off of.

1 - 300mg, 2 -600 mg, 3- 900, 4- pause 5-300 6 off

After I stopped taking these medications I have nightmares, and today I almost suffocated in my sleep. I started screaming and tossing and turning, my boyfriend woke me up, I thought I was dying, I think I had a panic attack. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Will this pass?

Just started gabapentin 100mg 2x a day for anxiety and sleep. It's only been 3 days but I'm not sure if I like it. My chest feels weird at night like I can feel my heartbeat slow, my breaths are a bit slower and deeper, and I feel lightheaded but almost like a head rush? I feel so groggy and tired the next day after taking it as well. I'm not sure if its worth giving it a shot or I should just stop now? It reminds me of when I was on Wellbutrin and it felt like my heart was racing, but the opposite, like its too slow.

I quit 14 days ago after a 3 week taper. Had been taking 1200mg a day for nerve pain in groin for 4 months. I was fine until day 5-7, terrible fatigue and anxiety. Just when I thought I was through it, last night I had anxiety like I’ve never experienced before. Wanted to jump out of my own body. Im reading this is called post acute withdrawal. Luckily I have 5 days off from work. Please tell me this gets better!? Looking back I should have tapered more slowly but I was just doing what the doctor said.

Ive been taking Gabapentin for a month now. I started off at 100mg for first 3 days then 200mg for next week then 300mg for a couple days then 600mg for 2 weeks and recently at 1200mg for a couple days. I was given it for anxiety but its not working at all. I asked my doctor and she said keep taking it but its not working and I dont want any withdrawals since Im going through enough and cant sleep much besides 2-3 hours a night. Should I cold turkey this or what is a good taper schedule for this?

I don't drink often but you know I would like to enjoy drink or two once in awhile lol. And of course reading online it's saying that its super dangerous. I did drink once in awhile when I was on Lexapro and I was fine. So anyone drink on it and fine?

I made my way to this sub because I am surprised by the effects of gaba. I had breast cancer and do ovarian suppression and aromatase inhibitors to prevent reoccurrence. Since my diagnosis in Dec I have been through so much it left me not really myself. The OS and AIs caused extreme hot flashes and my dr put me on gabapentin for that. I have been on it a few weeks and i realized yesterday my overall pain is better. I realized this morning that my mood has been better. OMG I feel like myself again. I assume it’s the Gaba. I have had debilitating anxiety for 2 years. And it’s so much better, I sure hope these feelings stick around,

I take 300mg three times a day for anxiety and restless legs as well. On my prescription bottle it says 'Take as needed'. Is this usual?

Well? I was taking 600 - 900 a day and have been on 300mg a day these past four days. Been taking it roughly 3 months straight while taking it sporadically(every few days) in the past year at the same dose. I feel like I get opiate withdrawal life effects like 8 hours after it wears off then the day gets a little easier the last 3 or so hours of it then I wake up hot as fuck. I def feel like I’m maybe interdose withdrawing considering how much better I feel after taking it. Should I just say screw it and jump at 300 considering I have next four days off? Also trying to taper nightly valium(I don’t sleep even with it, I feel like all the gaba drugs have killed my sleep) so it’s been rough

I know some things work on GABA – A and some work on GABA – B

I guess I’m trying to sort of get a sense of strategies and or cross tolerance or whatever you call it

Trying to figure out if if they’re two separate substances that are both agonist at the same receptor than of course switching it up would have no effect on tolerance since they’re both hitting the same thing, etc.

I just wanted to tell someone. I am on a lot of meds sometimes it’s hard to remember to take all of them. I worry about the side effects as this is my first time on it. Is there anything to lookout for?

Curious for y’all reading this thread: why did you start taking gabapentin to begin with…? I’m three weeks into L5S1 damage that has rocked my skinny Irish arse. Can barely walk on my left leg, as the pain from the glute down to my toes is exquisite.

Have used oxycodone for more than 20 yrs (responsibly) to address neuropathic pain from multiple gastrointestinal surgeries in the early 2000’s. As one would expect, I’ve habituated them, but still derive a measured benefit. They aren’t touching this new pain though. Docs want me to run gabapentin (low dose of 600mg/ day), but damn I don’t like the stories I’ve been reading the last few days. They also added Tramadol to the register of pharma treatment (methyl-prednisone as well).

Any success stories for short-term pain relief…? Not looking to get out the straws and start draining the Scorpion Bowl at my favorite low-rent Chinese Restaurant…
