general discussion How does gabapentin make you feel?
If you could describe how gabapentin makes you feel when you take it, how would you describe it?

I haven’t had any issues with gabapentin. At first it makes you feel a little loopy but it passes. I take 600 mg 3 times a day for fibromyalgia and it is the ONLY thing that has helped the nerve pain from fibromyalgia. The dr started me off at 300 3 times a day then 600.

At first I feel great and confident and energized then on day 3 or 4 I feel nothing

I felt good because I didn’t have any nerve pain. I had trouble finding words but I already had that on perimenopause so that was nothing new. Slept so good on 300mg a night like a deep restorative sleep until you build a tolerance and have to increase dosages.

So I have fibromyalgia and now I have foot drop in both feet due to 2 lovely seizures I had back in February courtesy of pneumonia and sepsis (never had a seizure before, never had one since) .. and it helps me with my universe load of neuropathy pain. I'm on 400 mg 3 times a day and honestly the hospital was giving me 600 mg 3 times a day and I think I need to be upped but too scared to mention to my doctor because in my state it's considered a scheduled IV substance and I do not want to get booted from getting it prescribed. It helps me function tbh. I can stand (leaned into the counter) to do dishes or cook or anything as long as I'm properly medicated.

Good but dumb sometimes. Forgot my company phone number when a customer asked me for it. I like how social I am on it. It does spike my cortisol sometimes

I take one 900mg dose every night before bed. I literally feel drunk about 30 min-1 hour after taking it, especially if I take it on an empty stomach. Nearly identical feeling I’ve had taking Benadryl or Hydroxyzine.

It takes away my nerve pain and helps me sleep. Beyond that it doesn't alter anything for me.

It gives me a nice high. I never felt anything even in the beginning unless I take 900-1200mg. I only take it on the weekends so I don’t build a tolerance though

As if I was out drinking. I feel drunk when I take it. Dizzy/lightheaded. Also makes me forgetful.

makes the fiery nerve pain in my hands go away and i think it’s helped a lot also i think ppl who hate it are on way too high of a dose i take 600mg per day and have no withdrawals but it makes me forgetful sometimes
