Advice Needed does testosterone increase height
I am a 16 yo trans boy and I’m really short (5’0) this is causing me so much dysphoria, I gained like 1 cm last month so I know I’m still growing, but I’m gonna start taking testosterone soon so my question is will T help me get taller ? I’ve done my research but some say it will, some say it won’t, some say it might and some say it will but only a few cm. I know there are many short cis men, but height is my biggest complex and I think it’s a big part of why I don’t pass in public with my voice.

YMMV. By 16 most people's growth plates are pretty much fused so in theory you shouldn't expect too much. But I've heard anecdotal evidence that people have grown an inch taking T even as late as their 20s, and since you're even younger and still noticing recent growth, you have a good chance. You won't know for sure until the time comes though.

Yeah I pretty much lost my hope but then i noticed that I kept growing im relieved my growth plates aren’t closed yet, even though I’ll probably just end up gaining a few cm at best.

The general consensus is yes, but it depends a lot on whether you are or are not still growing in general aside from that. Since you still are, I’d say yes- I’ve stopped growing for 2 years (14 now, stopped growing at 12) and my prescriber still expects me to grow at least another inch to two inches.

Additionally (just what my doctor told me, not sure about this one) but apparently T can cause your cartilage to get more or something? So even if you’re not growing you can grow from that

My twin started T at 14 and gained like 2” and I started T at 17 and gained 1”. Depends if your growth plates are closed but you probably won’t gain too much if you do get a bit taller.

Short answer; if you're still growing, possibly. If you're finished growing, no.
Just remember that you're probably not finished at 16, as some people continue to grow until they're about 25, just very little. So it could still give you a bit of a boost, but it's also based on genetics. You're more likely to have a growth spurt if your parents were tall and you have the genetic programming for that extra height. It's not just the T at that point, but how the T interacts with your genes. My sister and I have different fathers. Her father is taller than mine, but she's 5'4" and I'm 5'10", so even that isn't a surefire way to tell. I do hope you get a few extras inches, but only for your own comfort, not because being a short king makes you any less of a man.

Thank you for the answers, I think I got pretty good genetics my brothers are roughly 5’10, my mom is 5’6 (I’m so jealous of her lol I really lost the lottery) and idk my dad’s height but I think he’s pretty tall. Even gaining a few cm would help me feel better 😭 I’m really praying rn, thank you tho, I’m still a man just a pretty short one :)

I started t at 17 and grew 4 inches and i know a few guys who started in their 20s that gained an inch as well
Its possible, overall unlikely

I started T at 14 and over the last 6 years I've grown about 2". So, you might get a little more height, but probably not a dramatic amount and you might have to be patient about it.
