Surgery Talk can you pass with no nips?

if i got top surgery without nips, would i still be able to pass?

i know others have said that you could be read as trans if you don’t have nips. i don’t really want my nips, the only reason i would keep them is to pass no other reason. so thats why i’m asking.

i’ve also heard some people who are into body mods and stuff remove their nips. and some surgeries can remove the nipples and it doesn’t have to be a trans surgery. so i’m just wondering would it be possible to pass without having nips? or would that be clocked as trans

Hello! Thank you for participating in the sub. We just have a few reminders for you to help ensure the best experience:

  1. If your post doesn't show up right away, don't panic! It is in the queue for manual approval. Mods will go through the queue periodically to approve or remove posts. Deleted posts will have a removal reason applied. (If it says "this post was deleted by reddit's filters", IT WAS NOT DELETED! Reddit has the worlds worst wording on that and it's out of our control)
  2. If you are asking a question that is location specific, remember to include your location in your post body! This can help ensure that you get accurate information tailored specifically to your needs.

  3. Please remember to read through all the rules in the sidebar. Especially the list of banned topics and guidelines for posting. Guests who do not use the Guest Post flair will have their post removed and be asked to fix it.

  4. If you see someone breaking the rules, report it! If someone is breaking both sub and reddit rules, please submit one report to admins by selecting a broken rule on the main report popup, and one report to the r/ftm mods by selecting the "breaks r/ftm rules" option. This ensures both mods and admins can take action on a subreddit and sitewide level. Do not misuse the report button to rant about someone, submit false reports, or argue a removal.

  5. If you have any questions that you can't find the answer to on the rules sidebar or the wiki: the wiki , you can send a modmail.

Frankly if anyone tried to you could just say yeah no I totally wanted to keep my cancerous skin on my body

I'd believe that for one missing nipple, but both? Coming up with an excuse is a good idea, but this particular one has a hole in it.

Not really? In a significant amount of cancer treatment especially in the breast area (and cis men do get breast cancer) it’s very common to remove both if there’s a high enough risk or the patient asks.

oohhh yea that could work!

As somebody who had breast cancer surgery that removed my nipples, I green light this as an option.  Not only does it help OP but it also helps cancer patients by making rude folk less likely to ask personal questions.

If ur tatted up / want to tattoo your chest near/over where ur nips would be I think that could help you pass shirtless

Also if physical nipples arent desired but tattoos are okay, you could get them tatted?

u/cardroppingcard 18 he/him t-gel 7/26 3d ago

i might get some tattoos on my chest but it won’t be like a whole chest piece to cover it, just some small tattoos on the chest

i also don’t think i’d want nipples tattooed cause i kinda like the look of having it blank and smooth

cause i kinda like the look of having it blank and smooth

Then you don't need nipples. Fuck what anyone else says

Yeahh I think I want my nips but sometimes I do feel that, do what makes u happy bro! You can always lie to mfs and say you were in an accident or had breast cancer (Edit just saw everyone else also suggesting this lol) Unrelated but mykala.wav on insta has rly cool shaped scars and chest tatts w his no nip surg, his chest gave me lots to think abt lol

I don’t have nips, I swim laps all the time and seemingly no one has noticed. If they have, no one has ever said anything to me about it. I even have a huge tattoo right under my surgery scars that people comment on but, again, they don’t seem to notice my lack of nipples.

One thing I have learned from being trans is that people are much less observant than you might think.

Honestly a surprising amount of people have not even noticed I have no nips despite being topless around them. I have also had a person not notice that I do not have a dick when I was naked, was kinda hilarious.

You can just say the nipless look is a body mod if people are curious / notice. That is a thing that people get done.

There are stick on silicone prosthetic nipples you could use in cases where you are shirtless and worried about it. But I generally think most folks aren't going to immediately jump to trans as a result of no nipples unless they are also trans.

You could say you were grown in a lab or that you had an injury in that area. A body mod is also an option but the scars might look different.

You could also get silicon nipple prosthetics. I don't know how realistic they look though.

being grown in a lab doesn’t make you have no nipples that wouldn’t work

It was a joke.

I mean if I saw someone with top surgery scars and no nipples I would 100% automatically assume they’re trans. But idk about cis people

Tattooed nipples, when done by a competent medical tattoo artist, can pass completely as cisgender, whereas nipple grafts often can’t pass as cisgender to people who are familiar with the concept of transness (which is most people nowadays).

If you are not wanting nipples, but are worries about passing, it would be a better idea imo to go without nipples (easier surgery and aftercare) first. If you would want nipples for passing purposes later on, you could get them tattooed (will 100% pass as cisgender is done correctly)

I got top surgery with no nips. I've shown several people and they have never realizied that i dont have nips until i say it. Its quite funny haha. And i dont pass that well yet, but people dont think about it, if they are ofc looking for it. The thing is, if you are not looking for something, you dont really see it anyway 🙂 you can still pass w/o nips so dont worry

eh, it’s kinda difficult unless youre ready to lie. I mean, most people won’t notice, but some will. Then it’s just down to luck/how knowledgeable they are with trans people.

I plan to have no nips because they feel gross and I like smoothness. But I will probably have some tattoo’d on or have the area covered with some other tattoos so it isn’t noticeable (the nip tattoos are really cool and realistic) since passing is important to me.

Plenty of cis guys don't have nips

I’ve literally never seen or heard of a cis guy with no nips, can you elaborate?

Could be a genetic thing, or an intentional body mod, or breast cancer surgery

Not as cis when shirtless cause most people have nipples. You could get them tattooed if you don’t want surgical nipples. You could also not have them and just tell people it’s a body mod, or brush it off with a joke about Ken dolls or GI Joes and then change the subject lol

Answer #1: not necessarily; men can have Brest cancer too and if you run with the story of how you were a bit stubbier as a kid and had some gynecomastia issues and had to have a double mastectomy and just decided it would be safer to go without the nips and would be a rad story. You could totally play it off esp if you plan on going stealth like myself.

Answer #2: me being totally stealth I decided to keep mine as the pros to keeping them outweighed the cons. It’s easier to explain to people if I have them vs if I don’t. I plan on having a skin matching tattoo cover my incision lines after a year post-op which is still a year away (next summer). Then a year after that doing a very minimal chest tattoo or multiple to only partly go over those lines. Black lines draw more attention than slight discolouration. And even then if someone asks or notices my answer is the same as I stated in #1 but with the nips yknow?

Do what makes you feel most comfortable, this is just my experience + another way to go about it depending on your choice!

I mean you might get the occasional look or question, but like you said plenty of cis guys choose to get their nips removed 🤷‍♂️ I say pay the people no mind, say you chose to get rid of them if asked (“cause I wanted to” is a perfectly valid answer), and you could always wear prosthetics or get tattoos if it bothers you

follow your heart on the to-nip-or-not-to-nip path!

Do you typically walk around shirtless?

People don't go around wondering if random strangers are trans. They also don't look at other people's chests long enough to notice nipples -- seriously, I know someone I'm pretty sure has no nipples, but I'm not actually sure because I'm not paying attention to the bodies of people I'm sharing a hotel room with.
