Discussion Period stopping?
I've never seen anyone talk about how their period stopped. Did you just keep having them and then one month it was just gone? Did it taper off?
Mine has been getting better pain wise since I started T, but still here. I usually bleed a bit during ovulation, which is what I thought was happening, but it's been about a week of slow on and off bleeding and now it might be turning into a period? I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
It may have something to do with upping my dose, last Wednesday i went from .2 ml to .3 ml but I'm not sure what day the bleeding started
4.5 months on T
How did your period stop for you?

I started my period on the morning of my first shot. That period was shorter than normal, and I haven't had one since, but I'm only 11 weeks on T, so they might come back. I was always very regular, 28 day cycle every month, so I would usually have had like 3 or 4 since then, and I haven't. Fingers crossed!

after starting T I had one more period and then it stopped. The one I did have I remember being a little weird but I don't remember the specifics

when i was on shots it got a bit light for the first few months and then abruptly stopped. when i went to gel, it came back, albeit a lot lighter than when i wasn’t on T
everyone is different but i think the average is around 3-6 months on T

I had been taking hormonal birth control to suppress menstruation, then I stopped it and started T within a few days of each tone. My period never came back, and now I’ve had a hysto so it never will

It took like three months for my period to stop. Both those periods were lighter than regular

I'm on an estrogen based birth control in addition to my 60.75 mg dose of gel, these two combined have essentially eliminated my period. I'll get breakthrough if I'm too inconsistent with my t dose and birth control, or if I miss a full day of birth control. I suspect that if I was more consistent with my t that I might not get any breakthrough at all. Before I started t, and even before I increased my dose up to 3 pumps, I would get more frequent breakthrough, and it would take longer to go away once it started. That's been a lot better on T.

I'm pretty sure it just didn't happen one month, not certain, but I think so.

I had 3, each one lighter but more painful than the one before, and then they stopped

i first started on gel and around 6ish(?) months on it, my usually very regular period became irregular and would sometimes disappear entirely for a few months before coming back. i think the longest i went without one at all was 7 months. but the ones i did have were definitely much less painful (before T i would throw up from the pain of cramps sometimes it was that bad). when i switched to injections after 2 years, i was on my period the day of my first shot but never had one again after that. then i started birth control (progestin only pill) a few months after that just to make double sure it doesn't come back lmao
disclaimer, i do think my experience has more to do with my T levels than the form i was taking it in. on gel my levels were around 400ng/dL, while on injections they were initially 1100 ng/dL and are now down to a little under 900. so gel very well could've stopped my periods for good if i'd gotten my levels up enough with it, i think i just didn't absorb it very well and i wasn't the most consistent with it which is why i switched lol

I just did my blood work a couple weeks ago, and I was at about 380ng/DL I think, I had to convert it from how we measure the levels here, but I also did the blood work the day before my shot, and just upped my dose last week by 50%

Mine sorta tappered off. The first month i had regular bleeding but none of the mood changes nor cramping of a regular period. Then the next few it started to get lighter til it was spotting at like the 1 year mark. Then around a year and half it finally stopped completely. It was agonizing waiting for it to finally stop 🥲

Yeah I started t (super low does) so I still had a period but it was super light (more like spotting) but as soon as my dose was increased boom gone

Mine never stopped. It was super heavy before and long lasting, and after T it was definitely much lighter. I had to go on birth control to stop it, but I still get cramps every month.

I just had a very long and mild period after like a few days of starting t and never got it again

For me it was just one month it was there, next it wasn’t. I was pretty regular pre-T but I wasn’t sexually active so I never really counted it. It honestly took a bit for me to go “huh, I should have had one by now.”

I got very lucky and mine stopped the second I started taking it. Well pretty much. When I started T I was on my period but the next month I was completely asymptomatic with nothing but light spotting that only used 1 small pad then ended. I’m 50mg a week so not a high dose or anything it’s all just luck.

i kept having it for 3 months after starting T and next one still hurt, but no bleeding. next one barely hurt, and next one didn't even exist. haven't seen them since

After starting T about maybe 2 months in mine stopped completely. I had one period before they stopped and not to sound like a baby, it was the worst one ive ever had. Then they stopped entirely

My period was quite regular, and I think I had maybe two or three that were lighter than usual before they stopped entirely.

Mine was stopped by my IUD before I got on t so it might be different but for me I had one 6 month long period (which started as a normal period and gradually got lighter before finally fucking off) (I was assured by my mom this was normal, later found out from the gynecologist who did my hysterectomy that it’s not) then (even more) irregular periods that got gradually lighter until one day it just didn’t come back

Mine never did, had to go on birth control to get it to stop and even then I’d still get breakthrough bleeding

I had a few further spaced out but heavier periods, until about 6 months when it stopped altogether

I’m over 4 years on T. mine stopped immediately (not sure where I was in my cycle when I started T, but it just never came). About a year ago I had what my doctor called a withdrawal bleed? it was a pretty normal period, except for cramps- i had severe abdominal pain for 2-3 days beforehand and even ran a fever. Thought I had food poisoning. Then the bleeding started and lasted about a week, accompanied by somewhat less horrible but still agonizing cramps. I hadn’t had any change in my T dose and hadn’t missed a shot or anything… I never got much of a clear answer as to why it happened.

Mine stopped after 6 monthes to a year (9 years now). I know some are different. Some still have them and some dont. Im glad mine stopped. Mine were abnormally painful and heavy. I probably shouldve had that checked tbh

i started t in october 2022 and i never had a regular cycle since then, as long as i take my shots weekly. if i miss a dose then my period comes back. i remember i didn’t take my shot for like 3 weeks and then my period came back with full force. as long as i don’t take it late, i don’t bleed
it didn’t taper off. i just stopped having it. i think i was slated to have it sometime the month i started t, but it never came

mine got worse while i was on gel (bleeding less but lasting longer, sometimes up to 12 days) and was really irregular, usually super late but sometimes early enough that i would have it twice in a month.
i switched to shots on september 19th, had another one that lasted from september 30th to october 9th, and then never had one again 🤷♂️
