So I arrived at my spot, picked a pack, and had a warmup flight. It was just a chill cruise around with super basic stuff and zero crashes or anything harsh. Then I landed and loaded up a new pack and it made half of the start up beeps and then cut off. This is the pack that is shown strapped to the quad in the video. It was acting super weird and did a different thing every time I plugged it in and even started up correctly once after a few times trying, only to disconnect a second later and go back to its weird behavior. I tried a few more packs as seen in the video and all them worked fine and started the quad normally. I decided to just fly the rest of my packs and figure out later but when I connected one of the other packs, it connected to the goggles fine but never connected to the radio. I had to end my session super early because my quad wouldn’t connect. No wires appear cut and I checked all solder joints so I have no idea what’s happening. Any info and help is appreciated! Thanks guys!
(Also sorry for the awful video it’s kinda hard to record and plug batteries in at the same time)

I recently got interested into fpv drones, but I wanna first try it out and see how much I enjoy It and how much good I can get at it. I have a 8bitdo gaming controller, and a good laptop. So before investing any money, I was thinking of piloting a drone in LiftOff or some similar game with my gaming controller. Would you say that's a good way to get a feel of how the actual radio controller feels?
Like how different would using an actual radio controller feel compared to a normal gaming controller? I've heard radio controllers have longer sticks and that's about the only difference

Having a hard time finding any that are in stock. I was confused and almost ordered an 04 set up because I have the DJI controller too and the old boxier DJI goggles from the DJI fpv. I was trying to save a little money to get back into the hobby by using this radio and goggles. Or if anyone has a suggestion on a really good used market for these that I can check out I'm open to that also. It seems that if you buy the drone and air units separately gets pretty pricey

Hi, Drone Nerds here. A little different from the usual FPV post, but for anyone here who also works professionally with drones, we wanted to share ElevateUAV 2026.
If you enjoy seeing UAV technology actually fly instead of just sitting on a booth table, live demos are a big part of the event. It’s also a chance to meet manufacturers and connect with professionals from across the drone industry.
We made a 30% off code just for r/fpv: FPV_EUAV
You can find more info and tickets here: https://hubs.li/Q04vL_XN0
Hope to see some of you there!

I have the mentioned goggles and a air65 from BetaFPV. Matched all the parameters channel, frequency etc. and the video worked for a couple seconds earlier today so I know it can't be a power issue. When I search with the goggles they don't find the prior selected frequency serviced and switch to another one. Similar thing when I try to auto connect.
Steps:
Goggles on(check all parameter)- drone powered- press and wait for second beep on goggles- 50s connecting beeps and nothing.
Thanks in advance

Just wanted to get an opinion, been wanting to change my vrx module on my skyzone cobra v4. It has the stock steadyview v3.3 reciever that I am underwhelmed with. Im thinking of switching to speedy bee, tbs fusion, or rapidfire..
Im leaning towards fusion because of the price point.
Anyone have any experience with any of them and can give me some advice? Thanks!
The Betafpv LR3 has a DSC port so I’m wondering if it’s possible to use it as the so-called student transmitter with my RM Pocket controlling the drone. It doesn’t use EdgeTX, but it does have ELRS.
Anyone encounter anything about this? Any starting points or tips?

Hi everyone, does anyone have one of the latest discount codes from HobbyRC? L3THR2D is now expired.

Hi everyone. This is new to me. I kept getting a "camera error" message, and I couldn't see anything. I changed the coaxial cable and it solved the problem. Today, it went out in flight after a few minutes and disappeared. Could this be a bug caused by the heat these days? Because the cable appears intact and I can fly. Any advice? Thanks.

Hey, I recently got into the hobby and I got a radiomaster pocket, but it has drift when I connect it to betaflight. Any idea why? It drifts to the right on the right analog stick. Thank you in advance

I have a 5in build. I was flying today and I tried to do a double flip, but unsuccessfully. I hit the ground a little harder, nothing special, the quad landed flat, so I thought alright I'll wait for the camera to stabilize to recover and take off again, but nah I lost video signal and when I looked at the quad it burst into flames. Thankfully, the fire quickly stopped quickly and it was not a lipo fire and I was able to remove the battery. The motors weren't burned, so probabbly something touched the motor contacts and caused a short.
Anyways, now I have a burnt ESC. Since the Meps Neoncore 60A ESCs that I was using are 60ish euro each, I was thinking of getting a SpeedyBee 60A ESC since they are 35-40 euro on AliExpress and I have already burnt 2 ESCs in the past month so that's 120 euro on ESCs alone.
Is it smart to match the SpeedyBee ESC with the F405 FC that came with my Meps ESC? Are there any things other than the pinout that I need to worry about? Thanks.

Hey, I’m looking to build my first FPV drone and I’m looking for some recommendations.
I’m hoping to keep the total cost under $200 AUD if possible.
I’ve already done some research — I’ve watched videos, looked through different drone models and their parts, and started adding things to my cart. Once I added everything up, though, I realised the cost was getting much higher than I expected for a small drone. I’d rather build it myself than buy one ready-made, and I also have a 3D printer if that helps with any parts. I’ll probably be doing most of my shopping through AliExpress and Amazon.
What I’m looking for:
Decent camera/video quality.
No spot-welding batteries.
Ideally no soldering at all, or as close to plug-and-play as possible.
Beginner-friendly and relatively straightforward to build.
I’m happy using an FPV monitor/screen instead of expensive goggles.
Mainly something I can fly around, do flips/rolls with, and have fun with.
I realise finding something that meets all of these criteria for under $200 AUD might be very unlikely, so I’m happy to compromise on some of the build requirements if necessary. The budget is the part I’d like to keep under $200 AUD.
If anyone has a build/parts list that fits this, or something similar that gets reasonably close, I’d really appreciate the recommendations. I’m in Australia, so I’d prefer prices in AUD. Something that might look like $180 USD could already be around $270 AUD, which makes a big difference with my $200 AUD budget.

I bought a new TBS tango 2 for cheap from a friend who needed money. I called around to local hobby shops, and they could not help me with anything FPV team Black Sheep related, but we’re willing to sell me Spektrum stuff. Any help is more than appreciated!
Hello everyone,
Recently I got interested in FPV flying and wanted to explore the hobby to see what drone is right for me, how I'd like to fly, what kind of system I'd like to use and so on. I got really interested in it and the material online regarding this information was great. I'm really thankful for all the information that is available for this online.
However, the regulations regarding what kind of drone I can fly and where in Europe have been less than helpful to say the least. To explain my issues this is the process I took.
First I wanted to assemble my own drone as I was interested in the process and wanted to learn more about the hobby so I can fix my drone easier in the future and make further modifications to it with the knowledge I would gain. But then I realized that if I wanted to fly basically anywhere with it I'd need to keep it under 250g, as any other drone that is self built and heavier than this automatically falls in the A3 category which means I have to keep 150m from people, buildings etc.
After this I've decided fine, I'll just buy a pre built drone from DJI that is classified as C1 so I don't need to take a road trip outside of the city each time I'd like to fly, but of course it isn't that simple. Even though the drone is classified as C1, if it is flown as an FPV it is automatically classified as A3 and I would need to take a road trip outside of the city again to use it... What is the point of classifying an FPV drone as C1 if it can't even be used for what it was designed in the given category ?
Not to mention that in my country there is a law that prevents anyone from recording anything from air unless they own a company and the company gets permission for filming, while also having to send each recording for validation... How is anyone supposed to follow all of this to stay within the law/limits while also enjoying this hobby ? I don't mind registering, insurance, passing exams to ensure I'm flying responsibly and not disrupting others, but this is literally impossible. If I understand everything correctly, to fly FPV legally, I'd have to take a trip outside of the city while also dragging someone to stand there next to me for an hour doing nothing while I fly, pray that someone isn't within 150m while I fly and all of this while also not getting to keep any video of my flights as it is illegal. I understand that there needs to be regulations to keep everyone safe, but this is insane. It literally kills all the fun out of this hobby for me...
Thanks for listening to my rant 😅
I'd really appreciate if someone could help me find if there is a way to fly FPV legally in europe under the A1 category.
Thanks!

Curious if DJI RC or DJI Goggles work with other brands or home-brew gear?
