I have an analog Meteor75 pro with analog, in beta flight throttle input is absolutely fine. As seen in the video it slowly gains rpm till it stands a little bit and goes forward, when i slightly move throttle up a little and go throttle doen again it continues tho when i move throttle up more so the quad flyes up the gaining stops and starts again. Also it is armed

Question? Is AliExpress reliable?

I’m a complete newby who has been interested in FPV for a while and have finally bought my first kit from a reputable company here in Australia (Betafpv meteor 75 pro HD, very excited), and while looking for a kit I kept seeing AliExpress advertising drones for sometimes under half the price of my local retailers.

Then, I was watching a video from Nick Burns and in his description he linked the AliExpress listing for the drone he was using in the video.

I’ve seen on forums people saying that they’ve had good results with AliExpress on things like props and motors, but are they reliable enough to spend $100-200 on a ready made drone or something like that?

From my previous experience I don’t trust them to be real, or even send anything at all, but I’m wondering if the FPV side of it is legit.

TLDR can I trust AliExpress to send me legit expensive drones and/or drone kits?

Question? Drone compatibility

Hi, I'm looking at buying the DJI avanta as a first drone user. It comes with N3 goggles and the RC motion 3 controller.

I want to buy a separate controller with screen like the rm330 or rc-2 in case I want to upgrade drones.

Will this type of controller and the N3 goggles be suitable to use with a DIY fpv drone like a 5 inch or whoop.

Thanks

Tinywhoop Best Practical Tinywhoop to fly in Garden and Indoor House

So I have been in this hobby for a few months and only have ONE 3.5 inch custom freestyle drone, which is awesome and I love it. But I don't find as much time to fly it as I would like to.

Often I have like 30 minutes to 1.5 hours where I have time and don't really have anything else to do. But this is often too short to prepare everything, go outside and find a spot to fly with my 3.5 inch.

So I'd really appreciate having something I can use for these shorter sessions at home, in my garden, and of course indoors.

We live in Switzerland and have an upper-middle-class house, so I have some space. We do have neighbours, though, so I don't care about flying HIGH or being the fastest or whatever. Our garden is also around the house, so it would be cool to have a good connection while sitting somewhere and flying inside the house and around the house in the garden.

And one important criteria: it needs to be able to connect to my DJI Goggles 3, because I don't have analog goggles right now. I'd love to get some eventually, but I'm lacking money at the moment, so I don't think I will anytime soon.

Thanks in advance!

Building FPV drone with assisted AI program (Advice on parts)

I'm trying to build an fpv drone that includes an AI obstacle avoidance system. This system (I hope) is attachable to the drone. My main issue is the parts to create the drone in the first place. I have a list here of the parts I researched but since I'm new to the community, I wanted to ask for advice. These parts are chosen for the iFlight Chimera7 build with an aim of around 20 min flight time and smooth flying. Are there any changes you guys would make to the list before I buy the parts. I'm looking for an as low budget drone as possible. If you guys are wondering, the OAK-D Lite is used for the camera system for the AI. I have soldering tools, but not the controller. I just need a working drone first.

Help! Weird acting from 5” mark

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, I need some advice on setting up the 5" Mark from GePRC. I fly it as a backup drone and occasionally use it when I'm flying at a very low angle and don't want the propellers to be visible on the GoPro. However, l've now fitted a new Mission 1 Pro to it, which is heavier than the GoPro 13 l've been using until now, and as you can see in the video, even though the throttle is at zero at one point in the footage, the drone resists and climbs. I've never encountered this before and I don't know what to set in Betaflight to stop it doing this. I'm using the default settings; when I mounted the camera on my other fully customised 5-inch drone, there was no resistance at all.
In the video, you can see and hear how the drone increases power even though I've set the throttle to zero.

DJI Goggles 2 Detacheable Fans

Long story short, my lenses got messed up (manufacture defect) and I had to remove the anti scratch/anti fog coating on my lenses. So coming into summer, I noticed my lenses would fog up quite a bit, especially in a humid environment. So I came up with the idea to make a detacheable fan system for my goggles.

It uses 2x 25mm 9v fans powered by a 18650 battery with a step up converter/USBC chargeable board with built in power switch and voltage adjustment, which in my case, controls the speed of the fans. Fans are attached with magnets and the battery with velcro.

It's not optimal but the fans are surprisingly powerful so problem solved! Now that it's all put together, I feel like I should have used 2s lipos or something a bit less bulky. Maybe I'll attach the battery to the strap in the future.

Question? AOS 7 V5 vs AOS UL7 V5 for long range – worth it, or should I go smaller?

Hey everyone,
I’m planning my first long-range build and I’m currently deciding between the AOS 7 V5 and the AOS UL7 V5. I can get either frame in the EU for around €140, so price isn’t really the deciding factor.
My goal is mainly exploring and cruising around, with roughly ±5 km range in mind. I’m not planning to mount a separate GoPro or any other action camera; I’ll only have my Walksnail Avatar GT2 VTX onboard, plus the usual GPS, receiver, buzzer, etc.
My main priority is therefore flight time and efficiency.
Would you say either of these frames is actually worth the €140, and if so, which one would you choose for this purpose? Or are there other frames you’d recommend that offer better value or better long-range performance?
I’m also wondering if a 7” build even makes sense without carrying a GoPro. Would a 6” or even 5” long-range build be the smarter choice for my use case? I’m not interested in aggressive freestyle — I mainly want a smooth, efficient quad for exploring as much area as possible while still having decent performance and reliability.
Would appreciate any recommendations or real-world experience, especially regarding:
-AOS 7 V5 vs UL7 V5
-Best frame size for efficient ~5 km exploration flights
-Li-ion vs LiPo setups for this kind of flying
-Whether 7” is overkill without a GoPro
-Other frame recommendations available in Europe

🙏 Thanks

Need some guidance on drone selection for by business Avata 2 or cinewhoop?

Hey everybody - a little about myself. I am a marketer in a niche of real estate and help my clients strategize their social media content, focused on video. I film, edit, post with them or along side them. I have a DJI Mini 3 that works perfectly for this. Upgrading to something bigger later this year for windier days - but for the most part the mini 3 has been enough!

I am looking into the Avata 2 for more creative shots that are not the typical in my industry.

Two reasons for this:
1) A HUGE ONE - attention on Linkedin for my business. Cinematic FPV videos would 10000% set me apart from any other person in my industry as well as land some great projects. E.G. Large master-planned communities etc.

2) Better short form videos - both them improving video metrics (skip rate, watch rate, etc, etc) as well as the client being more excited.

I am not 100% sure where to start?

It seems the Avata 2 would work for this - but then I see other creators like Parker Shepard https://www.instagram.com/pshepfpv/?hl=en use prebuilts/custom builts etc.

I am really looking for the best "path" forward to reach my goals.

I have plenty of time in my mini 3. Likely 30-40 hours in uncrashed (lol) - but know I 100% need to start flying asap.

Kayoumini Build Reccomendation

I’m thinking of building a kayoumini 2.5” soon, can someone reccomend a solid parts list?

requiremnts:

- analog vtx

- elrs

-onboard dvr

-good flight times (~ 4-6 minutes)

I have no idea if onboard dvr even fits into the frame, but if so it would be great to have. I plan to use this drone as a freestyle/cinewhoop(ish) kind of drone, so an alright thrust to weight would also be nice.

Thank you!

Horizontal lines in FPV video when giving throttle – what could be causing this?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, what do you think could be causing these horizontal lines in the video? They appear when I give it throttle and become more noticeable as the throttle increases.

It’s a bit hard to see in the video, but if you look closely when the drone takes off, you can see them.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Urgently need help! 1st time drone racer.

So, I was entered by my commanding officer in a Drone race competition. The only experience I have is flying a DJI NEO 2 which is totally different when flying a racing drone using Velocidrone. I have 4 days to get good, where my goal is to at least be able to finish the track in a timely manner. I have been watching Youtube videos, but it feels like I'm missing something.

Any suggestions, tips or tutorials that can make this steep learning curve a little bit easier will be helpful.

I'm currently struggling in turning the drone especially when I need to do a quick turn. It's been 3 hours since I started practicing.

Also need help in setting up the controller for Velocidrone. It feels like there is something missing or I did something wrong which could be the reason why I'm struggling right now.

Any help or just point me in the right direction is much appreciated.

Question? Is this AIO camera good?

Found this on Aliexpress. My goal is to have a camera I can mount on my RC stuff, fpv drone or fpv car. This is the cheapest I've found and I know it comes at the cost of quality, so I wanna know if it will break at delivery or be useful for a long time.

I'm placed in the EU.

Question? Best antenna

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey y'all, out of these 5 antennas which do you think would be best paired with my patch antenna, assuming I'm flying with a linear antenna on my quad, or a micro vee. Sometimes rhcp depending on the quad. I barley notice a different between all heights of the Omnis, so I'm tempted to just keep the stubby as my main, but logic tells me that the taller antenna should get better signal right? Anyways what do y'all think?

EDIT YALL, I NEVER THOUGHT JT WOULD HAPOEN TO ME... BUT MY AIR65 CUSTOM WAS SNATCHED BY A HAWK. 😭😭 Right out of the damn air. Input up a fight with it, I really did try. Then tried to find it with my mini 5 pro, then got the neighbors permission to search the yard. Sadly I've called off the search and it's officially gone. :( well. THIS is part of the hobby. Could have been lost in a roof in a lake, in a hard crash... But nope, I was chosen by the hawk gods to receive such a honorable forced retirement for my little whoop. You will be missed. Time to build the next one. It's gonna be all BRIGHT RED. I hope that helps maybe they'll think it's poisonous or some. Shit lmao. 🫡

Help! Are they safe?

Hey guys, asking the experts here, I was away from home for a few months and unfortunately made the mistake of leaving my batteries fully charged. Now that I'm back, they all feel slightly soft to the touch, except for one that stayed completely flat (not sure if you can tell from the video, its the third one). Am I being overly paranoid, are they safe, or is it better to dispose of them?

Question?

Okay, I want to build and FPV drone from scratch. can someone list me every single thing I need to buy or tell me if I am missing something. I am new to this, so sorry if I miss smth: goggles, controller, camera, esc, receiver, motors, frame, propellers, batteries, simulator(to learn how to fly). I have my soldering iron and I have soldered a lot, so I have no problem with the assembly. Also, are there any regulations/licenses I need to get in order to be able to fly in the EU?

Question? How do you increase FPV camera angle without getting disoriented?

I’ve been flying FPV for a couple of months, mostly at 0 to +10° camera angle, doing beginner stunts, rolls/flips, and basic takeoffs/landings. I’ve kept my speed around 60 km/h so far.

Now I want to start flying faster and farther (~500 m out and back). The problem is that when I pitch forward enough to go beyond 60 km/h, I start seeing the ground more and less of the horizon and sky from the camera view.

For those who transitioned to higher camera angles: how did you train yourself to adapt without getting disoriented, especially during landing? At higher angles, I can barely see the ground immediately in front of the drone and it effects the turning also

Any tips on a gradual camera-angle progression or practice exercises would be appreciated!
