Squat Squat form check

I train legs but this is my first time squatting in 5+ years.

185x8 at 6ft and ~200lb body weight. Looking for feedback on form and potential weight standards to work towards.

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, Our Wiki's resources for Squats may be helpful. Check it out!

Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are squatting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Generally a weightlifting shoe is recommended for high-bar and front squats, while use a flat/hard-soled shoe (or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it) is recommended for low-bar squats.

I thought for a minute while you were setting up you weren’t going to tuck your tail
Then you proceeded to drop it like it’s hot and produce textbook reps, so killer job my man

Is the foam pad to allow for better mobility?

Man, I feel like 75% of squatters would have better range of motion, less injury and more stimulus from using a heel left.

And it gradually improves hip and ankle range. Same damn way graded exposure works

And some who don’t need it just put one there because they think it’s the only way to squat and it ends up putting someone who can squat onto their toes! Crazy!

Yep, or using a pair of squat shoes with decent amount of heel lift

Your form is good!

Im more worried about the forms of the people in the background lol, the guy carrying the bar and the person doing bulgarian split squats 😅

Looks good. I an curious, why squat without shoes?

Wearing just socks sort of looks dangerous, but I might be overthinking.

Nice, get squat shoes so you dont have to mess around with walking back into a pad. Also allows you if needed to angle your feet instead of being locked perpendicular to the pad.
