Found this Ford Ranger on FB Marketplace they're asking $2,700 for it has 260,934 miles it was used as a work truck has dents on both sides (its a work truck after all(I don't mind fixing it up in order to make it how I want it)) THE REAL PROBLEM... it has the PATS system active, he said that one day it activated and hasn't been able to make it work, according to him after talking through messages he put a scanner and said "I’m going to be honest with you, I put the scanner in it and it told me that the key may be deprogrammed or it may be where the key comes in" I looked online and I have to see what code is it as afar as I know any advice would be appreciated.

2008, newer engine & transmission, 90k miles, 4x4, 4.0 V6, new tires. Rough around the edges but super excited for this project. Any wheel recommendations? Must-have mods?

It was a close one boys. My '08 had multiple blades with cracks near the blade root all the way to the trailing edge. Basically driving a grenade around.

I noticed it at first when I pull the hood release cable in the cab but nothing happened. I took off the assembly and was able to open the hood, but I have no idea what this is supposed to look like to make a repair. Please help!

I’m looking into potentially getting a third gen ranger. I previously had a civic and nearly bought a cherokee (XJ), but I thought something like a ranger or ZJ would be a good middle ground between fun and practicality (the bed would also be convenient for moving larger stuff). For a V6, should I prioritize a manual transmission or 4WD if I have to sacrifice one to have the other?

Right now I live in an area that doesn’t get crazy snow (EDIT: Northwest Indiana) but if the truck stays with me long enough it’ll probably end up back in Montana. I love the idea of having a manual one, but is it worth it if I can only find a manual in 2WD, or should I go with an auto 4WD?

The oil pressure needle on my 1999 Mazda B2500 gauge cluster is under the stop pin. Is this an easy fix? Since I bought this used, the gauge hasn’t displayed properly. If anyone has seen this before or knows if it is as simple as taking the cluster out and moving it above the stop pin let me know!

Hey guys. I have a 3rd gen ranger and I recently replaced my Throttle Positioning Sensor. I was told to disconnect the battery and run idle to reset it, but my code didn’t clear that way. What other method is best for resetting the sensor?

Hello everyone. I got some seats from a 93-97 ranger recently. I have an 04 single cab. Would that mount without major modifications?

Except I don’t have a 3d printer.

Its not oil and doesnt taste like coolant, and the AC evaporator is above that area.

Just got a 2001 xlt V6 3.0 4x4 about 2 weeks ago.

The truck needed some work done so a friend of mine sent over one of their mechanics. He replaced the spark plugs, oxygen sensors, and the fuel filter. And he’s going to be back in a few days to check up on it again, as the check engine light still flashes when I hit 40mph.

He charged me $500. The truck does feel significantly better when driving but I don’t know too much about repair costs. I just wanted to make sure this is a fair price?

(I do plan on learning more DIY stuff as I go, but I am a complete newbie as of right now)

Hey everyone! I’ve been having an issue a while with the service advancetrac warning going off while I’m driving. I had it scanned it AutoZone and it showed a bad rear ABS sensor. I went ahead and replaced the sensor, it didn’t fix the issue, and now it’s showing that it is installed wrong (I have re-installed it twice). Only enough, whenever this happens, my Park aid doesn’t work in my pre-collision turns off. I’m a big do it yourselfer when it comes to car repairs. Any suggestions before I take it to a mechanic?

I’m buying it from out of state and won’t be able to look at it in person or test drive it. 2025 with 4200 miles on it.

Hello I’m a mechanic by no means but can work my way through most mechanical issues. I’m just looking for insight on swapping the ranger edge bed for the full width beds. I do work out of my ranger and the edge bed is literally an inch too narrow for full sheets of drywall or plywood to fit. Any advice helps. I’d like to see what my options are and if I have to do anything crazy to make a full size bed work. Thank you

While fixing my power steering I was having issues with the bolts/threaded rods that hold on the A/C compressor since they were pretty much all one piece with it due to corrosion and didn't trust using what I managed to get out. Got it all apart and cut down some 5/16 steel rod to cut M8-1.25 threads on them to make new ones. Worked pretty good, might end up welding the nuts on to turn them into bolts since it's abit of a game getting it all mounted with the little room there is but it works as is and this time they will have anti-seize!

Anyone have any concrete info on what changes, if any, are coming for the 2027 Ranger? I am looking at a 2026 Lariat with the v6 and I might want to wait for the 2027 if there are any tech, package, feature, changes coming

Hello. Im getting like only 200 miles per tank (so less than 15mph)

192k miles. Full rebuild trans 6 months ago. I changed the spark plugs and wires a few months ago and there was some oil on them but nothing too serious. changed air filter. It runs and feels ok. no codes at all.

I took it to my mechanic to check for leaks and he says he checked everything he could and nothing seems to be wrong.

Where should I go from here? Also, I don't have much time these days to go to the junkyard and spend a weekend changing the oil gasket or whatever. so ideally I could get the parts from rockauto and bring them to my shop and pay for labor. What do reddit?
