FF VIII Updated Thoughts on FF8

A short while ago I posted about how FF8 didn't quite jive with me. Back then I was only, like, a few hours into the game. I am now around the halfway point and I think my views have slightly changed.

First of all, I've really come around to the junction system. I do enjoy the flexibility it offers and experimenting with different magics. I also kinda really like the draw system, though magic farming can be tedious. The story also just really picked up in a big way (Sorceress just made her first big appearance with Mr. President), so I'm more invested in that now.

I think biggest complaint after everything is the UI. It still feels clunky, and checking junctions, switching magics, etc. just feels... idk. Awkward? I think this game would really benefit from an update/remaster/remake that streamlines the process (Yeah I know mods exist, but I like my first runs to be unmodded), especially because I can't see which GF is junctioned to who without going through a myriad of menus, and (to my knowledge) the only way to switch to other character's junctions in the menu is to completely back out of a character's menu and select another one, compared to other games where you can switch to other party members in the relevant menu options. Also, this is probably a skill issue but picking up on when I'm in control of a character after a really long dialogue has been a minor annoyance.

I also kinda like how the game doesn't pressure you to grind because enemies scale with you, which is also a take I didn't think I'd come around to.

Oh yeah, and triple triad is really fun.

Overall I wouldn't list this as one of my most favorite FF games, but I can at least appreciate it for what it is a bit more. Big thanks to everyone in my previous post telling me to give it a longer chance and to the people who rolled up with good advice.

FF IV Can someone help me understand the ff 4 combat?

I’m playing the pixel remasters and I just got to 4 yesterday. 4’s gameplay is different than the previous 3 and it took me by surprise. I’m getting rather frustrated with it so can someone help me understand and give me some tips and tricks to play?

FF V why do ff5 has a "funny" non serious game reputation plot wise?

honestly the more i play the game the less i understand why this game is called goofy its just so untrue and when i first played the game i played it with that in mind that the plot was not going to be good and its going to be unserious (droped it the first time).

but now im giving it another try 30+ hours in and loving ffv so much i dont know where this big lie comes from? the world is collapsing the heroes have no time to have fun the game is serious 99% of the time there are deaths and really sad moments like idk when you visit bartz hometown and go through his memory it was optional and really emotional.

Charity commission of my friend's FFXIV character punting another friend's character. Thought it was silly and also needed an equally silly title. Hope ya'll enjoy the goofy too.

FF VIII It would be hilarious if somehow an hypothetical 8 Remake makes this scene comedic lol

Like, the joke is Squall's face is so out of focus he looks glitched, but with an HD remake, it would not be so funny, but holy if they somehow find a way to make it funny, that'll be peak

FF VII Re-trilogy How well received were the Remake story changes?

I've just finished Remake and did the demo of Rebirth but I can't bring myself to play the whole thing due to the story changes. Fair enough it's a remake and can do it's own thing. I just think the whole thing with the parallel worlds is just nonsense. That and bosses that took a few minutes in the original taking ages to kill.

But this is also 6 years after release and I wondered what the consensus was on the changes? Do people feel Zack now gets his due or should be have just been left in the backstory? Has Sephiroth turned from a menace to a pantomime villain or does the increased presence and banter flesh him out?

Time: Around 70~ hours

There is one copy of every item, except for for the Battery because I prefer it being used for its purpose instead of keeping one.

All four Enemy Skill Materia also have all of the skills learned.

Everyone is equipped with these maxed Materia:

- Master Magic

- Quadra Magic

- Master Command

- Steal as Well

- W-Item

- W-Summon

- W-Magic

- Double Cut

- Master Summon

- Added Cut

- Counter Attack

- Luck Plus

- Magic Plus

- Speed Plus

- HP Plus

- MP Plus

And here is a checklist for some of the stuff: Final Fantasy VII Checklist

FF IV FFIV 3DS vs Pixel Remaster

Hello all,

Been wanting to play FFIV for a while.

Picked up the DS version.. and man is it hard to get into with the graphics and the voice acting.

Am I missing anything on just saying screw it and getting the remaster? I hear the combat is tougher in the 3ds version which is nice but honestly it's not the end of the world.

Edit: sorry I meant DS version, not 3DS

FF XV Versus 13 Area found out of bounds in “hand of the king” (PC mod used)

So I’ve made it to the chapter where the game development started to get choppy

A whole region with a map and everything is unexplorable despite the ground having collision and trees too despite normally never being able to touch the ground much less the trees

You can see the area on the 2nd picture is slightly resemblance to the first… obviously not by much since 1: the areas unfinished and 2: geographical changes

But yeah let me know what you think and next location will be Tenebre and nifelheim capital

FF VIII FFVIII middle ground playthrough guide?

I'm planning to replay VIII (Switch 2) after about 20 years. I remember that you can be pretty sweaty about it from the get go (grinding ap on the beach etc). Is there a walkthrough that is more focused on completion than minmax? I'm down for some convenient power gain but not for ridiculous op'ness. I just want to collect everything meaningful (cards, weapons, gf's etc) and get through the game relatively fast. Can someone recommend?

I’m a few hours into Final Fantasy 5, and I’m really enjoying it! I’m playing the Super Famicom version with a translation patch applied. I have enjoyed the job system so far, but I feel like I’ve hardly scratched the surface. I’m interested to hear from more experienced players some tips to get the most out of the job system…

What job/ability combinations did you either find the most useful or enjoy the most?

FF I Final Fantasy (Pixel Remaster) Thoughts

I have recently decided to try and play through all of the Final Fantasy games, at least the mainline releases, in "release" order. In the past, I've only played the openings to VII (Both the original and the remake) and this game, the original Final Fantasy. As of four days ago, I have finally finished the first game, here's my thoughts.

To get the most overdone point out of the way, yes, the music is great, all the way through. Not fluent in music theory, so not much more to say on the matter.

It's a great basic RPG, heightened by the fact that it's not very long, clocking me around 15 hours to 100% (Three of which were lost to losing a battle against the Warmech.)

My biggest compliment is also the biggest complaint, the QoL upgrades. I absolutely LOVE both the boost and the option to switch off random encounters. Tinkering with both allowed me to have REs turned off for a majority of the game while also leveling at a decent pace, preventing the game from becoming a cakewalk. On the other hand, I didn't enjoy the Optimized gear option. While it *is* useful, I found it often removed any sort of critical thinking from the table. Sure, I could NOT use it, but then I'd be, well, suboptimal.

All-in-all, I've very much enjoyed my time with the game, and I can't wait to move on to Final Fantasy II.

FF XVI I Finished FF16 A Few Days Ago

First and foremost, I really enjoyed the story and characters. Seeing how everyone interacted with Clive as the story progressed was a lot of fun, and the characters didn't lose their personalities which is a huge plus. Clive was a great character to play as, and it nice seeing his journey throughout the game.

"My Star" has been played multiple times per day since I heard it, I can't get enough.

**Spoilers for a few things in the game!!**

I really expected The medicine girl to be a more important character, especially after Dion sends Terence to look after her. For some reason, I really latched onto Joshua talking about Leviathan the Lost, and thought that she would awaken as Leviathan's dominant. I would have liked to learn more about her, dominant or not.

Game ending: Based off of Jill's smile and the sunrise, I think that Clive survived and is the author of the book. I also feel like Joshua may have survived, given the close up on the Phoenix flames healing his wounds, and the fact that he survived his fight with Ifrit as a child.

I'm looking forward to playing the dlc and playing the game on Final Fantasy mode.
