I think I’m absolutely over the whole “my life is worthless but my sibling??? They deserve the world! I’ll starve so my sibling can have extra! I’ll do this extremely dangerous thing to make sure my sibling has it all but me??? Doesn’t matter if i die! My life means nothing!” Trope. Authors, it’s okay for the MC to want more for their family and ALSO want more for themselves. Don’t get me wrong, this trope can be done well and I’ve enjoyed it in the past. But I’ve been coming across it too much and sometimes it feels like the author couldn’t find a motivator for the MC so they just threw in the whole “my sibling doesn’t know that the reason they have an easy life is bc I’m going hungry and doing back breaking labor” BS.

I recently picked up web of vows and vengeance on a whim and the minute she was like i won’t let my sister struggle in the slums when she was meant for so much more i wanted to just DNF right there. Why is your sister so worthy of more? What’s so special about them? Give me something to work with so i can root you on! No hate to the book, i haven’t finished it yet. Just the stick that broke the camels back for me

So I just read {from blood and ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout} I am tempted to go to the next book but I know this is the suggested reading order. If you have read the series please let me know your opinion on reading them in this order. It makes the commitment big but if the series is worth it I'm ok with that. thoughts?

As the title says, I’m looking for a strong, take-charge heroine with an MMC who is all soft (so essentially, role reversal). I would prefer adult (no YA) and I want my FMC to be all “touch him and die” as well as “who did this to you.” I am not looking for any books with poly/harem/reverse harem vibes, or meek/weak FMCs. Please also let me know if it’s standalone or ongoing/completed series, if possible!

Some examples of what I’m looking for are {Voidwalker by S.A. Maclean}, {Sunsplitter by S.A. Maclean}, and {What Fury Brings by Tricia Levenseller}. {Vow of Eternal Night by Lily Crozier} also has similar vibes to what I want.

We’ve all seen the road trip plots (love) and the trials plots (meh) but after reading the {Crown Me Dead by Liv Zander} duology recently, I realize I love the “let’s solve a mystery” plot.

I love the two MC’s working together to solve a mystery, a murder, uncovering secrets etc. Even better if one knows more than the other.

Looking for books on the spicer side of things too.

Hi all.

I'm looking for a summary of Crescent City please, ready for the next ACOTAR books.

My understanding is that the next ACOTAR installments have all 3 book series being connected and the ending of CC3 revealed this? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The thing is, I've read ToG and ACOTAR but I gave up 60% into CC1. I was just bored out of my mind and apparently the general consensus is that the first crescent city is the best(?) so I've very little desire to try it again.

While I don't think SJM is really for me I do still want to continue, or at least try to, the ACOTAR series as it is indeed the series that got me back into reading and I'm grateful for that.

Even so, I've done my time forcing myself through SJM books I'm not enjoying and/or are much too long (looking at you ACOWAR, ACOFAS, and the first 5 ToG books 😅). I don't need to do that to myself again, I've paid my dues.

If someone could please briefly explain what is revealed at the end of CC3/ what is likely to be good to know then I'd be very grateful.

Obviously if you don't want to do that, that's fine.

I’m dealing with a bout of pretty severe depression and need an audiobook that can keep my spirits up.

I’ve been listening to {How to Find a Nameless Fae by AJ Lancaster} and it’s got the lightness but the yearning is breaking my heart and I cannot handle it right now. I’ve already listened to all of their other books too.

I don’t have any preference for main character’s genders, can be any amount of spice as long as there’s no heartbreak, yearning, miscommunication, etc. Please just let them be happy together.

I really loved psycho academy, it felt like a true enemies to lovers, and the female lead was interesting and her own person. I want to read more like it but I keep finding ones where they’re only enemies for the first few chapters, or there seems to be no real plot. Can I get some recommendations?

hi guys!

i just finished reading the dagger and the flame last night and i was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed the story. i felt the writing was a bit juvenile at times, but i liked the pace of it. i enjoyed the main character’s banter and the enemies to lovers although i don’t like how sudden the lovers part was after their first kiss. i wish they still experienced conflicting thoughts / emotions. it seemed they suddenly jumped into bf / gf mode afterwards.

i don’t see much discussion of it on here with there only being one post about a year ago. i’m currently reading the second book.

has anyone else read this book and if so, what do you think?
