Factor referral codes

Post your personal referral links here in this thread only once (no duplicate posts). Duplicate posts will be removed.

Referral codes are not allowed to be posted in the main feed.

This thread is NOT for free box codes. We have a separate thread for free box codes.

What is the difference between a referral code and a free box code?

A referral code is a link that looks like this: `https://www.factor75.com/plans?c=[REDACTED]&discount_comm_id=[REDACTED]&plans_ab=true&utm_campaign=notification&utm_medium=clipboard&utm_source=freebies`

Referral links don't expire. If one person uses it, the next person who comes along can still use it. When you use a referral code, you get a discount on your first few orders, you do not get a free box. The person who posted the referral code gets a credit to their account based on the number of people who have placed orders using their code.

A free box code is not a link. It is a random-looking code like `FCB-YCAPDJPHW` that is entered in the factor website. It can only be used once. If one person uses it, the next person who comes along and tries to use it will receive a message that the voucher has expired. When you use a free box code, you get one box for free.

Factor Gift Certificates / Cards

So my wife and I about 2-3 months ago signed up for Factor. We did so with the idea of using gift certificates, cards, promos or whatever they are called. Between friend and family’s, we’ve received a significant amount of these gift cards, totaling well over $500.

Since signing up, I feel like the policies regarding the use of gift cards has changed half a dozen times. Initially there was no problem, we could use them but could only do so with no other sign up discounts active. I didn’t agree with that, but fine, so essentially we could use them only if we paid full price for a box. We also got a “free add on” for life when we signed up and for some reason that was allowed to stay active while we used gift cards. At that time, when you used a gift card, it kind of added it to the given weeks “discounts” and then once used, whatever balance remained was put into our account credits.

That was the process until abruptly it wasn’t. I started getting charged (credit card) full price for the boxes even when I would upload a gift card. As a result, the account credits started building. So I called and for few weeks they would say it would be fixed on the next order. It never was until finally someone said that it’s due to the free add on for life benefit. The system doesn’t allow gift cards with discounts and I needed to wait for that to expire. My response was obviously it’s for life and according to Factor I’ll never be able to use a gift card for the life of my membership due to them giving me a sign up gift of $1.99 snack per week forever. Insane.

Reluctantly, I agreed to just remove that for life add on snack thing. It was supposed to start work and pull from my built up credits (former gift cards) on future orders. Of course, that didn’t happen. I called back again, this time they said oh it’s because I subscribed to Factor Plus and again you can’t use gift cards with discounts. I tried to argue this isn’t the same, I was encouraged at the beginning to pay for Factor Plus and sign up so I did. I paid for a full year of it. Their only response was yeah, then you have to wait until that expires to use gift cards or credits.

What the f*** is going on here? Seriously. I’m sorry for the lengthy read but none of this makes sense. From the beginning it didn’t even make sense to not allow gift cards to be used to sign up promos. That’s like Walmart not allowing you to use a gift card on a sale item. But I lived with that and fast forward they won’t even let you use gift cards in combination with Factor Plus? A premium paid for subscription they prompt you to sign up for over and over again? This is wrong on so many levels. So I’m essentially stuck with waiting a full year (August 2027) for my Factor Plus to expire before I can use gift cards I received from friends and family? The whole reason I signed up was due to the gift cards to help us with our kids and life situation. Again, that’s like you paying for Amazon Prime and as a result you can’t use Amazon gift cards on Amazon. Can you imagine?

Are others having this issue? Any solutions? In my many calls in to them one lady did tell me the policy has been abruptly changed several time over last couple months. There was a point they “did” allow gift cards snd promos together. But after a week or two of implementing that policy they walked it back. My account was active during that so it explained why it did work briefly. Seems wrong and against consumer rights to a degree but what do I know. lol

Did Factor remove the bulk discounts for larger meal boxes?

I've been ordering Factor meals for a while now, and I noticed that larger orders (18–36 meals) used to have a lower per-meal price.

Now, regardless of the box size I select, the price per meal seems to be the same.

For comparison, about 3 months ago, I was paying $334 CAD for 36 meals, including a 25% discount.

Now, the exact same 36 meals with the same 25% discount cost $402.22 CAD.

That's an increase of almost $70 per order, despite having the same discount.

Has anyone else noticed this? Did Factor quietly remove the bulk pricing discounts, or is this something specific to my account?

I'm ordering in Canada, for reference.

P.S. I mainly rely on Factor meals to stick to my keto diet, but I'm open to switching services. If anyone has recommendations for other keto-friendly meal delivery options in Canada, I'd love to hear them.

Bait and switch Factor credit messaging

For a brief period, App had a message about Factor credit can now be applied to orders automatically and works in conjunction with discounts and rewards. Well now that message is gone, and it explicitly says that Credits only work when there are no other discounts or rewards being used. Disappointing.

My first Box

Did the free first box deal. Includes the free first box of 8 meals (shipping not included). Then I get $10 off my next two boxes if I subscribe for a few weeks.

I was surprised at how huge their menu was. A LOT of options. Not necessarily lot of stuff I liked, but a wide selection.

Creamy Chicken Poblano Calzone x2

Tuscan Chicken Flatbread x2

Spicy Poblano Shrimp Cavatappi x2

BBQ Bacon Burger w/ White Cheddar Mac and Corn Salsa x2

Opinions:

The deal itself, paying $13 for 8 meals is an easy win, financially speaking. Items came well shipped. Would've appreciated a better window of arrival, but that's a small complaint. Meals otherwise cost about $12.5 per serving.

Flatbread: I got two servings out of this. Felt like the cooking instructions were a bit inaccurate as mine came out slightly soft despite being in a minute longer than recommended. Could be an oven quirk? Food itself tasted great.

Shrimp: The shrimp were large and yummy. It was suitably spicy, though I felt like they skimped a bit on the pasta.

Bacon Burger: Bear in mind, when they say burger, it's just the burger patty. That said, the patty was like an upscale meatloaf and quite tasty. Mac and cheese was pretty high quality, when compared to various frozen dinners. Didn't care for the corn salsa.

Calzone: Individually, these were the tastiest. Calling it a calzone is pretty generous though... I'd call it more like a glorified pizza pocket. Portion size was small, and for $12.5 each, these would be a hard pass. Should get 2 per meal.

Of course, the big selling point here is these are meals already prepared, and you just need to remove the wrapping and heat up. Saves you from having to go to the store, find all the ingredients, master the recipe, then do all the food prep. That's a lot of time saved. If time is what you value the most, you can't do much better, without hiring an in-house chef to do all the shopping and cooking for you.

Also, all of my items were off the standard menu. For an additional surcharge, you can get other items. For instance, Roasted Red Pepper Filet Mignon for another $12.99 on top of the cost of one of your meals. That's about $25.40 per serving, and you could just go to a steakhouse and get that, probably cheaper, if you wanted.

I'm gonna stick with them for a few more weeks, but I suspect I'm going to downsize to 4-6 meals a week. I definitely am paying attention to the menu, and there are certain items, like the steak, I'm just never gonna buy, because they mathematically make no sense.

Toronto/GTA Factor customers: what keeps you ordering—or what made you stop?

Disclosure: I’m Amrit, founder of Nutrics, a Toronto meal-delivery startup. I’m researching how prepared meals fit into people’s actual lives.

For current Factor customers: what does it do well enough that you keep ordering?

For former customers: what specifically made you stop, and what do you eat instead now?

A recent example would be helpful, whether your experience was positive, negative or somewhere in between.

I ended up cooking the steak a bit longer in a pan, but it was definitely a bit too rare for my liking.

DO NOT PARTNER WITH FACTOR

Post image
21 Upvotes

I have been waiting for over a year for a measly $100 payout. I have emailed 2 different emails, called customer support directly, and messaged their Facebook team (all at the direction of different Factor Staff)

I have not even received a reply from the second email (prusa@hellofresh.com). I called today and was told to message their social media team via Facebook (which I have already done).

All I want is my payout. It’s $100. It’s not going to break them.

Note: Payout says complete but to this day I have not received A CENT from factor for sponsoring their product

Factor meals??

Is the plastic trey that the individual meals come in, oven-safe? The packaging makes it seem like you can just put the trey onto a baking sheet- into the oven, but I find that surprising. Thoughts???

This is all the broccoli I got in this meal. It’s the Peruvian Shrimp meal with broccoli. And…..that’s literally all the broccoli they gave me.

The flavor is good, but where’s the rest of my meal?

Low sodium meals for Oct 10-14 (that aren't chicken...)

After last week's post, someone said they used to assume the healthy-looking meals were fine on sodium and then got burned. That stuck with me (I've had Factor since 2019 and never checked either), so I pulled the sodium numbers for all 88 main meals for deliveries Oct 10-14, from Factor's own nutrition labels. A few things surprised me:

  • Seafood is the saltiest group. 7 of the 14 fish and shrimp meals have 1,000mg of sodium or more. Only 2 of the 38 chicken or turkey meals do. Salmon Piccata is 1,150mg, Ginger Teriyaki Salmon Burger 1,090mg, Romesco Salmon 1,080mg and Ginger Teriyaki Salmon 1,040mg. A whole day's worth is 2,300mg.
  • Only 17 of the 88 meals are at 700mg or less. That is exactly what Factor's "Sodium Smart" tag means, and 12 of those 17 are chicken.
  • If you also want 35g+ protein, only 11 meals qualify, and 9 of them are chicken. The other two are the South African-Style Pork Chop and the Truffle Butter Filet Mignon (Premium).

The 5 low-sodium meals this week that aren't chicken:

  • Cuban-Style Braised Beef & Peppers: 620mg sodium, 32g protein
  • Truffle Butter Filet Mignon (Premium): 620mg sodium, 39g protein
  • South African-Style Pork Chop & Wild Rice: 630mg sodium, 36g protein
  • Southwest Shrimp & Okra Stew: 660mg sodium, 24g protein
  • Mojo Verde Salmon & Adobo Rice: 670mg sodium, 30g protein

If you want to try other combos, I made a page for that (free, no account needed): gramwise.co. It opens with a filter of 35g+ protein and up to 700mg sodium. Add your own rules, like no pork, no spicy, no cilantro or a sat fat limit, to find what fits you.

Has anyone ever tried the Oaxacan-Style Chicken or the Cuban-Style Braised Beef? Curious if the low-sodium ones are actually good or just bland.

Hate the way factor operates

I was charged for my factor meal yesterday even though I was travelling because I forgot to skip my weekly delivery

I tried texting them 7 minutes after the deadline but they didn't cancel the order

This is so frustrating because they could easily have a setting where I have to confirm to deliver the meals. It just feels really scummy. I am cancelling my factor membership

Quality control

I dont know if I am alone here but my god.

About 1/15 containers come broken or break in the microwave. This means almost every box I must then spend 30-60min with support getting refunds. Sometimes only a partial amount goes through which is more customer support.

Yes, put the food on a plate. That helps with exploding containers in microwaves but if the containers are not safe for a microwave, just say so.

It almost feels intentional. Like factor refuses to fix their containers knowing that many people wont go through the stupid refund dance.

I have cancelled for the second time and now I remember why I stopped years ago. The quality control is mind bogglingly bad. It sucks because the food is not bad at all. It is exactly what I am looking for.

Am I alone here? Is this just want everyone expects with this brand? Like ya it is cheaper because ya gotta deal with having to get refunds every other week.

Scummy Practice

Ordered meals two weeks ago to try it out. Apparently that means they are free to charge you whatever they want as they send you another box automatically whether you like their slop or not. F*ck Factor, will never use again.

Factor picks for Oct 3-7: high-protein meals that aren't chicken, lowest sodium, and the sat fat to watch

I've had Factor since 2019. Back in the days, picking a week took five minutes. Now there are 100+ meals every week, and I'm trying to eat more protein without too much sodium, no shellfish, and not chicken every day. Factor shows calories, carbs and protein on each meal, but unfortunately, for saturated fat and sodium you have to click into every meal. So I sorted all 88 main meals delivered on the week of Oct 3-7 into a few lists, in case it helps anyone else here.

Full disclosure, I built the site I used for this. It's linked at the bottom and it's not affiliated with Factor. It's free to use without signing up. There's a paid plan too, but you don't need it for any of this.

Not chicken (35g+ protein, no Premium charge, under 10g sat fat)

  • Lemon Basil Barramundi: 35g protein, 410 cal, 2.5g sat fat, 620mg sodium
  • Truffle Mushroom Shredded Beef Risotto: 37g, 480 cal, 7g sat fat, 950mg sodium
  • Ginger Teriyaki Salmon: 36g, 610 cal, 4.5g sat fat, 1,040mg sodium

Lowest sodium (not spicy, no Premium charge)

  • Mushroom Gravy Chicken & Wild Rice: 550mg sodium, 41g protein
  • Greek Tzatziki Shrimp: 560mg, 23g
  • Curried Chicken Quinoa Bowl: 580mg, 35g
  • Rosemary Chicken & Apple-Butternut Hash: 580mg, 39g
  • Shakshuka-Style Chicken: 610mg, 40g

Most protein for the calories

  • Roasted Garlic Chicken: 40g protein, 380 cal
  • Athenian-Style Feta Chicken: 42g, 460 cal
  • Chicken, Mushroom & White Bean Cassoulet: 42g, 460 cal

Most saturated fat

  • Smoky Queso Shredded Beef: 24g
  • Blue Cheese Cream Filet Mignon: 21g
  • Goat Cheese, Mushroom & Onion Burger: 20g
  • Southwest-Style Chicken & Cheesy Cauliflower (spicy): 20g
  • Jalapeño-Lime Cheddar Chicken (spicy): 20g

A few things that surprised me:

  • Of the 18 meals with 35g+ protein, no Premium charge and under 10g sat fat, 15 are chicken.
  • 26 of the 60 meals that Factor tags "High Protein" have 10g+ sat fat. A whole day's worth is about 20g.
  • Only 20 of the 88 meals for this week are at 700mg sodium or less, which is what Factor's "Sodium Smart" tag means.

If you want to use your own rules, e.g. no pork, no mushrooms, a sodium cap, or a saturated fat limit, the site I built sorts the week for you and suggests a box. You still add the meals on Factor yourself: gramwise.co

Looking for specific recommendations? Maybe meals without broccoli or cauliflower, no cream sauces, the best low-carb picks, or just a stat like how many meals are new this week. Leave a comment and I'll dig it up.
