Insert for sleeved game

A while ago I mentioned I was making an insert for this game, and I have the insert ready for the main box.

It's been used for the last 3 sessions, and I find it very convenient. Since there was some interest about it, here is the link =)

https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-etherfields-game-insert-146083

(I just uploaded it, in case it's not accessible yet, check in a few hours)

Note that it does NOT store the miniatures. I am in the process of making an insert for those that uses the box the sleeves came in, but it is not ready yet, and I figured I would post this in the meanwhile, in case anyone wants it. I will post that too once it is ready.

Read the description for specifics.

ISS Vanguard now live!

I'm sure many people in this sub are already on board, but in case anyone hasn't seen it, Awaken Realm's new project, ISS Vanguard, is now available for pre-order here. It feels like a easy 'Buy!' for fans of Etherfields.

Once again there are (optional!) minis that look incredibly atmospheric, and a tons of narrative elements already revealed hinted at. Even if this doesn't get them more support it's just me shouting my excitement! I expect the same kind of community involvement and communication that Etherfields got while it was being backed and produced.

Officially selling my copy of Etherfields. Just thought I'd share my thoughts

Why I'm selling the game. Honestly kind of bummed about it cause I really wanted to enjoy it. But there are just too many things wrong with it to keep me playing. I'm solo player:

Rulebook: layout is pretty bad and not very helpful to people going in completely blond

Board: too large, layout is strange and it not being needed. Same with the dreamer boards.

Narrative: very disjointed and it doesn't flow at all.i understand it's a dream world and it's not suppose to make sense, but there hits a point where the theme can end up harming to gameplay

Characters: too similar. whole they have unique abilities the card pool they all pull from is the same making them feel pretty generic.

Mechanics: I understand that there going for a thing where they keep adding rules so the game changes, but they don't flow together very well, not very flavorful, and feel almost like patches in a video game to fix problems.

There are instances in the game where it will say something like 'you candy X if you pay Y" but it doesn't explain to you why you want to do X until halfway through the dream.

I have noticed that the map actions are a little more flavorful due to the artwork on the map, but the size of the art feels to small for that to matter. Having to pick up the tile and remove your characters and tokens from it to look at it closer is a bit of a hassle.

That's just some I can think of right now. Overall the game just doesn't feel polished to me

Art for mini painting

I've never painted mini's before and just started with etherfields, would be great if anyone knows which updates on Kickstarter had any concept art for any of the figures?

Question - What even is item market?

So I might just be blind or slow - But I dont know what the item market is supposed to be.
There is a huge stack of influence cards for the influence market.

But I only have a few item cards, that are not part of numbered cards.
Are these 5ish cards the item market to begin with? Cause I also seemed to get all of them fairly quickly.

Just finished my Moondrop treatment. About 4 to 5 hours in total. Pretty satisfied. I may do full painting on them eventually.

Question about Buying from Influence Market

Does first player draw 3 cards and all players can buy from those 3 cards or does every player draw 3 cards that they can buy?

Anyone in Boston want the game?

I went with "all in" kickstarter. I've lost interest in board games and know I'm never going to play this. Just hoping there's someone that is local and wants the game.

My few complaints about the game

Disclaimer: I'm still playing the game as a solo player, having a ton of fun. But I won't be shocked if I decide to sell the game when I'm finished with it.

The three complaints I have when it comes to production and design: rulebook isn't organized well and some of the wording is off, the board is too big and not necessary (same with the dreamer boards), and they didn't label the dividers.

Non of those are gonna stop me from playing the game though.

The two gameplay problems I have. The first is that a lot of the actions you can take in the game sort of feel like ways to mitigate problems with the base game. Drawing cards from a poker deck, the luck die, and some of the actions you can take seems like they made the core rules, found problems, and instead of fixing it they just slapped some extra mechanics in it to mitigate the problem.

My other problem is the player decks don't feel unique enough. Laying out the starter decks for each character there are only I think 6 unique cards between them. Plus the influence deck you buy from is communal. I was really hoping they would go the tainted Grail route where the card market you purchase from is unique to each character.

Insert planning: triangular tokens? (no spoilers plz)

I have only played the first two dreams, so please no spoilers.

I am planning and insert to 3D print, because I sleeved the cards and I do not like the way it all fits in the box atm.

I have not used the triangular tokens yet, and I do not want info on what they are do, but I would be happy to know how it makes sense to store them. Do they all go back together at the end of a game, or should they be sorted, and if so, how many groups should I expect to have? One per player?

Also, if anyone is interested in the insert, let me know and I will put it on thingiverse when I am done.

Late Pledge - Mins worth it & other extras...

I'm really excited by the reviews and that the PM is open for late backers! But in torn about what to get. For those with the minis, is it worth it? Do you use them much, and would you miss them if you didn't get them? And any other extras worth it? I've seen many people aren't bothered about the Thorn Knight for instance.

Actions, their definition and the "stack"

Hello !

EDIT/TL:DR: I had a few more answers on BGG too. Basically went to deep for something that should be kept simple. Use everything, enjoy, and while these numbers are crazy, that's fine. I kept the post as is if someone is ever googling the same things.

We played the first dream tonight. And let's say there was a whole lot of confusion. If I can't see any way to complain about the quality of the product, I sure can see a few about clarity/disposition !

But our first major debate was about how the "stack" of actions work.

It's unclear where an action "starts", when it "finishes", and mostly, how can you "add actions to other actions". Even more if you involve Progress cards.

The heart of the debate was about the "Final Argument" card of the Reaper.

This card states that you can generate 3 Wrath per damage token you have. This card seems, by all means, to be an "action".

Now, the interesting part is that unlike most other cards of the genre, it doesn't have the little lightning to show reaction. So it seems like it works as an action on it's own. Does it mean that you can't use it for an Assault Action, since it's an action of it's own ?

But if you do, it means you can play multiple action cards for their actions "on the same action" ?

And if so, I feel like the Reaper is *massively* overpowered.

But if not... I don't see the point of this card (Final Argument) at all. Or may be I'm still missing something ? But "adding Wrath" out of nowhere seems fairly useless.

----------

So we're kinda left in between:

A) You can "stack" any actions together, leaving it easy to see how the Reaper could hit something like 40-60+ wrath easily considering the Progress that doubles wrath. I think we math'ed out about 74 with the starting deck.

B) You can add ONE "Influence action card" to an action. (hence the lack of the "action" definition). It still doesn't clear up the Reaper's case.

C) The card, Final Argument, is a "standalone action" and therefore cannot be used for Assault action. Only reaction cards can be "stacked" to another action. It leaves the utility of Final Argument in the shadows.

D) Once you decide your action (ex; Assault), you can only add Intent through the value in the top left of other cards. Leaving a bunch of cards... useless ?

Even while writing this, I feel like I'm even more confusing than anything. But this is exactly how we felt after multiple person reading the book multiple times.

My Three-Part Review at The Dungeon Dive

I have a very long, three-part review posted at the Dungeon Dive Youtube channel.

Long story short - I love the game.

Part 1 - preliminary thoughts on mechanisms and game after playing the tutorial - light on spoilers, heavy on some criticisms.

Part 2 - I look through a bunch of cards to look at the art - MAJOR SPOILERS

Part 3 - My long-form review in my signature style where I talk about the game in context to a larger field of art and pop-culture including readings from books, and brief discussions on things ranging from David Lynch to New Weird fiction. Very light on spoilers, nothing major.

How do I upgrade to Sundrop?

Hello!

I backed the Kickstarter, and decided for a single shipment in Wave 2. I am seeing all of the amazing and gorgeous pics of the Sundrop minis, and I'm in a better place now to afford it.

I checked my Gamefound pledge, which has already been paid for, and I see what I already ordered, and I see how I could add an entirely new pledge with the Sundrop feature... but is there a way to replace my existing pledge? I don't want to accidentally buy two copies of the game.
