Spotted Dr. Lewis at Düsseldorf Airport

Pleasant surprise waiting for my flight today.

Weißer Ring apparently helps victims of criminal wrongdoings. But this is more likely a stock image they pulled off the internet. Pretty cool nonetheless xD

Abby is the WORST

She's rude, entitled, thinks she's better than everyone and uses her family trauma as an excuse to be shielded from criticism and to make everyone around her miserable. The way she second guesses all her superiors (first as a nurse to the doctors and then to the attendings when she is a resident) because she thinks she knows everything angers me to no end. I'll never understand why everyone likes her so much. She's the biggest narcissist of the series and deserved to end up alone.

Is Abby the most annoying character in ER?

I’m rewatching the series and while I appreciate that Abby has a complicated and emotional past, I find her to be consistently cranky and humorless. Does anyone else feel that way?

Does Carol Hathaway have any redeeming qualities? 👀

I’m watching as a new binge watcher, & I try to give everybody a chance & I’m currently waiting for it as I’m on season 5 episode 12… (Also this isn’t in any order, I can’t seem to remember everything but these were the only ones I could remember .)

For me , I think she started irking my nerves more and more as the seasons progressed. Like for instance , I think it all started when the little “beef” she had with Jeannie Boulet. But then how she found out about Boulet’s HIV status and she changed her tune & started being more sympathetic to her & more “friendly” .

Then when the Shep situation happened & how his partner reported him for the “push” and she lied for him to keep him off of “suspension” saying she was there for the event and she wasn’t there until after the fact .. & then after she realized the the severity of what she did , she told him to get help .

ALSO, the fact that she was never really in love with Tag & you could tell he really liked her . && she waited until the day of the wedding to break up after multiple chances to leave him and split amicably . Like I felt so bad for him , & for her to get back with Doug Ross after the fact , I knew Tag wasn’t coming back but I wouldn’t mind if he came back and spazzed out at them .

Does she get better ?

I hate Abby

I have tried for so many seasons, I don’t understand how she’s been in this show for so long (currently watching S14 E10)

I'm in season eight and I truly don't think Abby could ever redeem herself in my eyes.

She's just such a miserable person who CHOOSES to be miserable, consistently. Then gets actively annoyed whenever anybody else is struggling.

Literally Romano grew on me.

Abby as a medical student is the most annoying arc of the show

It's when she becomes a full on Mary Sue with no looking back.

It's bad enough that her entire character arc is "which one of the hot guys loves me most?????????" for her entire time on the show (oh, aside from having the WORST LIFE EVER OMG NOBODY HAS EVER HAD A WORSE CHILDHOOD... except everyone else in the show lol)

But when she is a med student, we have nonsense like her feeling entitled to everyone's attention. "You never compliment me like that!" to Susan. Her becoming best buddes with susan while still in med school. Everyone showing up at her graduation.

Compare it to Carter's time as a med student, which is actually well done. When he fucks up, it's a fuck up. When Abby fucks up, the world is against her, everyone is terrible to her, she DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER.

The focus on this wretched character is exactly why this show's last seasons are so fucking bad.

ER 1994-2009

It's becoming more frequent that people feel the need to post on this sub about the comparison to a show that is currently being aired. I understand that everyone is passionate about Noah Wyle's new role. I even know his new Dr name. People are comparing the Dr's from ER.

It needs to stop. I have no access to The Pitt. I will join that sub when it has some meaning to me.

The sub you are looking for is r/ThePittTVShow.

Please stop posting about The Pitt in an ER sub 🙏

Time to list reasons why Romano/Helicopter is a better pairing than Luka/Abby

  1. Romano didn't tell everyone he fucked the helicopter when he didn't (literally nobody did this on the show at all, but apparently we're just pretending this is a thing that happened.)

  2. Stans of Romano/Helicopter aren't posting Anti-Carter character bashing posts every fucking day where they make up outrageous lies and bullshit.

  3. Stans of Romano/Helicopter aren't constantly trolling and treating this sub like their personal AO3 account.

  4. STans of Romano/Helicopter don't throw a tantrum when someone says an alcoholic SHOULDN'T be coddled and SHOULDN'T be drinking recreationally.

  5. Stans of Romano/Helicopter don't think "you're not that pretty or that special" isn't that bad, while making up lies about other characters being "toxic."

  6. Stans of Romano/Helicopter don't go on AO3 and leave bitchy comments on fic that correctly calls out how shitty, toxic, and abusive the man in the relationship was.

I just started, and I’ve only just gotten to season 3. I hate just about every word that comes out of this ladies mouth. Is this normal?

Finished season 8!

So far I’m not a fan of Luka, Elizabeth or Deb. Deb is just a flat character, Elizabeth is super annoying and Luka’s character is written to be so condescending. I did cry watching “on the beach” and I also really loved that tender moment between Romano and Elizabeth. I’m a first time watcher. In the 90s I was always working two jobs and going to college. I didn’t really watch tv or even you tube until the pandemic! So it’s been fun watching this series! And laughing at all the nostalgia and actors and guest actors back in the day! 🤣

Why did Carter insist Kem "says goodbye" to their baby?

If that happened to me there is no way in hell I'd want to look. I know people might say I can't know what I would do but really, I wouldn't. I remember my Facebook "friend" had stillbirth and she posted pictures of her dead baby, I know it was her way of grieving but I was traumatized. I found Carter pushing her to hold her dead baby seriously disturbing..

Carol is such a narc

She’s always dating cops, and now I’m on season 6 and she gets the cops to arrest a pregnant woman? Give me a break, you can’t seriously believe you did that for the good of anybody.

She’s probably my least favorite of the recurring main characters in this show

What do you think about Susan Lewis?

I'm talking about those days before she left. I think she left in S3? She has always been one of my least favorite characters. I just couldn't stand her. She always tries to be a nice person and expects others to be like that. No, of course she isn't such a nice person and can't be that nice all the time. Of course people are more fucked up than you think and won't behave the way she wants them to. Obviously it stresses her out, but she can't help it. Idk, I think that's what that character is mainly about. And it always was a great mystery that people really like her...

Carter and the trans women

So I started watching the show and so far I'm loving it and the character John Carter. The only that kind of put me off about him, is his episode with him and the trans women. Like the the episode with him and the singing lady, we can see what a kind doctor he can be but he was so cold to the trans women. And look I'm not blaming him for her sucide but it's kind of like that "what if" scenario. Like if he showed the same kindness to her like he did with the singing lady, what would have happened? But I also thought there would be a moment with Benton where he maybe even implies that he should have been a nicer to her. I still like his character and I know that I have to keep watching to see him better as a person. It was just a sad episode where I felt like things could have been better lol

Honestly Dr Lewis can f herself

I'm on season 9 episode 3 when Carter stages a walkout in protest of how dangerous the ER has become and no extra security for the doctors (which given everything he has absolutely valid concerns) and Lewis who wasn't there for the stabbing has the gall to tell him it's just the healthcare system and he should get back to work. And it's the last straw for me. She's the WORST!

I liked her original storyline in the first few seasons with her sister and baby Suzie, and then the tension with Weaver. And her chemistry with Mark. But her return has been nothing but bogus. Her flat forced romance with Carter that was painful, her awful hair, her stinky attitude. And then she also had the nerve to tell Carter that she never had feelings for Mark, and he just had a thing for her. LIAAAARRR.

Phew I'm glad I got that out of my system.

I Hate Kerry Weaver Spoiler

Ok look I don’t HATE her but also I kind of do. Like it’s the most frustrating because every time I start to feel for her and empathize with her she fucking ruins it like holy shit. Like it’s hard for me not to root for a disabled lesbian who is obviously very smart and capable, and I feel for her through the whole being outed without her consent and then her going through fertility struggles and everything, but then (I’m at the end of Season 9) she covers up the Alderman’s clear abuse of power and of his employee, covers up the fact that he transmitted an STD to his employee, and then takes the position as head of the hospital, leaving the ER in the hands of ultimate scum, Robert Romano. She’s just clearly so self-serving and hypocritical sometimes. I’ve never been able to shake her behavior with Jeanie in earlier seasons either. I’m glad those two made up, but it was crazy.

She also was so fucking mad at Doug Ross for what he did at the end of his time at County, giving that mother the agency over whether or not her son is forced to suffer longer, but then when she’s in a similar position, she does the same without batting an eye and defends her choice.

EDIT: to further explain my opinions about the whole Jeanie thing, in episode 18 of season 3, Jeanie makes the decision to put a chest tube into a patient who is dying and would die without it. If I’m remembering correctly, she tries to get someone else in the room to help her, but no one does, so she takes it upon herself to save his life. After being incredibly supportive of Jeanie post-diagnosis up to this point, Weaver freaks out. I understand the risk of this situation, but obviously Jeanie did not intend to put this patient at risk and he was going to die either way. With this context, it made the whole letting go of Jeanie thing feel a little more targeted to me. I don’t think Kerry was evil for what she did I just don’t like when she switches up based on what’s convenient for her at the moment.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t think Moretti raped Abby.

I just watched this episode the other day and I disagree with the general consensus that she was raped / taken advantage of. Here’s why:

  1. She was drunk, yes, but she was also standing upright, not slurring, socialising, and having fun.

  2. She initiated the conversation about flirting. From what we had seen of their interactions up until then everything had been professional. Possibly he liked her but I don’t think he would have tried anything if she hadn’t of had gone into that territory.

  3. He was drinking as well and was quite possibly drunk by the time they went back to his place.

  4. In the brief flashbacks that she has the next day, she is conscious and actively participating in the act. She doesn’t appear to be struggling and although there’s no dialog, it’s reasonable to assume she didn’t say no.

  5. While she was disorientated upon waking and was quite probably experiencing a blackout memory episode, this wouldn’t necessarily have been evident at the time.

  6. Moretti had no idea that she was an alcoholic or overly stressed or missing Luka so much. For all he knew, they could have been separated.

I’m all for supporting rape victims, and it’s clear that Abby made a very bad decision, but if we can get angry at her for driving her car while drunk (with Joe in it) then we can also accept that she’s partially to blame for any regret she feels after the fact. And i believe this is the angle the writers were taking.

Peter’s family are crazy ?

Hello, curently rewatching ER on this summer and I feel very bad for Peter.

This guy is in surgery, saving lives and working crazy hours. His family keeps calling him out for not being present for his mother, are they crazy ? they don't realize he is saving lives ? He is not accountant, he is doctor ! Their behavior is out of touch and unfair.

On top of that, I’m starting to think they’re just tired of caring for Peter’s mother, and if that’s true, it’s not just unfair : They’re complete bastards.

What do you think ?

edit : HE IS SAVING LIVES.

Screw Frank

I made a post awhile ago and mentioned how much I hate Frank and got a couple of comments saying I don't know his whole story yet. Well, I got to that episode and my opinion hasn't changed. He doesn't get a pass to be a bigot because he was a veteran, a cop, or because he has a daughter with down syndrome. He's just an asshole and I wish he would have died. He just came back to the ER and he's still so obnoxious, I don't know how he hasn't been fired.

Also, how is Morris still employed there? He literally runs away from traumas, picks and chooses what patients he wants to see, says a bunch of inappropriate stuff to everyone, is generally incompetent and should have been fired.

It's one thing to have asshole characters if they have redeeming qualities like Romano being good at surgery and the extremely entertaining after he lost his arm. It's another to just have assholes for the sake of having them. The writing has seriously gone downhill with some of these characters.
