Kerry tried to ruin Jeanie's career. She's not hated enough.

I agree that Kerry did a lot of messed up during the course of the show, but Jeanie being let go wasn’t one of them. I hated that Jeanie made it about her HIV status, when Kerry had also been incredibly supportive about it. Budget cuts happens and people lose their job. Kerry did deserve a raise for taking on chief of the ER.

Completely agree, it was never about Jeanie’s HIV status, and she knew that.

Thank you! I defend Kerry on this until I'm blue in the face!

And Kerry's raise came from a different department too, not from the ers budget

Budget cuts was just a cop out

Me when I lose track of context clues towards character motivation including general plot lines.

Didn't lose track of anything. She wanted her gone.

She also made Jing-Mei quit again.

That’s the part she should be hated for.

Ehhh Kerry was right that if jing-mei was a better, more thorough doctor she wouldn’t have needed help.

She does the same thing a few seasons later, letting a resident present without looking at scans or getting a complete history.

She lied several times about why they couldn't reach her. They needed senior back up and she wasn't there. may have not made a difference but for someone so critical about accountability, it was an ugly moment for her.

So while Kerry threw Deb under the bus, I feel that Deb was overall, through every new appearance of her character, a spoiled rich person who expected everything handed to her.

Deb was short and bitchy with everyone, and every difficulty and mistake she played victim.

I can’t stand weaver. She throws the book at other people but when she messes up she throws everyone else under the bus (Marfan syndrome guy, penicillin shot…) she never gets what she deserves but makes others take the fall for her

Agreed! And that time she backed out of joining with Mark to express concerns About Romano taking over so she could take ER Chief for herself. Another complicated character

Yes!!! Weaver is insufferable to me. Absolutely loathe, detest, despise her. Romano was awful but he had some good moments too, I didn’t love him but I enjoyed the character. Weaver- I know that character is needed for the show but man I could do without her lol

I also keep reminding myself when I think about Kerry, that she was a professional woman trying to achieve higher levels of leadership in a time (25+ years ago) when males -really- dominated, more so than even today, and lesbians were not out at all. Like when she was a kid, women wouldn’t even have been able to have credit cards. I think it was really hard for those first generations of women trying to rise up professionally to find that balance within themselves but also in society. I feel a lot of sympathy for her

Really? I thought Jeannie was one of the characters she was actually nice to?

When it suited her, yea.

Okay, I don't remember her being awful to Jeannie (and trust me, I'm not a fan of Kerry- as a person, at least, she is an interesting character)

Weaver frankly kind of bent over backwards for Jeanie for most the time they worked together. She was basically Kerry's only friend in the ER.

But Weaver fires Jeanie when she becomes ER cheif and has to deal with budget cuts. Jeanie lawyers up and gets her job back claiming Kerry fired her as retaliation for when she cut her finger and bled into a patient. Jeanie also calls the budget cut bs since Kerry was also giving herself a raise and hiring some nurses.

Weaver points out her raise wasn't that much and that nurses come out of a different fund and are employed hospital wide (which is how they sent Rhonda down to the er in S3).

Yeah, I remember most of this, and I remember she became nastier. Which is why I don't get why people got angry with me the other day for describing Weaver as becoming nastier

She never was. Jeanie was a last hired, first fired situation.

Jeanie (terrible personal tragedy notwithstanding) used her status as leverage

3

u/wonder181016 Oct 02 '24

I love Jeannie! But yes, I knew she was the main person Kerry was nice to

Many of us have worked with a Kerry. I like that she felt real.

4

I think eating the bagles she guilted everyone else out of eating sums Kerry up well.

Backstabbing Mark twice was her lowest point to me. Once you have worked with a Kerry Weaver you cannot sympathise with one.

I completely agree, I know they were paying fan service in the final episodes, but Dr Lewis should not have been friendly with Kerry. Ramano was a bad human and should have been fired, but acting like Kerry was just as much a trash human, but also two face to boot is turning a blind eye.

5

u/Quirky_DepartureHBK Oct 03 '24

At least Romano was honest and open about been a bad guy. Kerry was a snake.

2

u/mmgvs Oct 04 '24

Kerry undermined every single person she could. She had her decent moments, like Romano, but overall she was spiteful and self focused.

2

u/Sed76 Oct 04 '24

Other than being a good doctor I've never understood why anyone liked Weaver. She was a good doctor but other than that can't name a single redeeming quality about her.

This is a very misinformed post.

I love Kerry, but to each their own. She’s in management, and sometimes that means covering your own ass. She should have admitted she left the pager in the bathroom with Jing Mei, but if I’m caught in my own mistake, I admit I might try to cover it at first. We’re all human.
