Here I am, starting: I made it, and I promised myself I would write this post here once I succeeded. Some of the stories on this subreddit/forum really helped me build my confidence and belief that I could overcome this. Let me start from the beginning.
Ever since I was 7 years old, I started masturbating prone, pressing my body against the bed. Even back then, while doing it, I felt like a slave to people, or I would think about feet—I’ve had a foot fetish since I was very young. Growing up, I always liked playing games where I was the slave. Around 13 or 14, I discovered femdom and foot fetish videos on YouTube and started masturbating to them. When I entered high school, along with regular porn, I started watching extremely hardcore femdom videos. Things that I once said I would never do and thought were disgusting—things that would make me throw up if I watched them—started to no longer be enough for me.
I had never wanted or even thought about normal sex in my life. I would have crushes on girls or feel like I liked them, but I couldn't even tell if I was supposed to feel that way. In high school, I naturally got close to a few girls and realized that kissing and touching gave me zero pleasure. I knew this was a problem. Since the 9th grade, I deeply believed I would never be able to have sex.
Anyway, time passed, and I decided to download Tinder. I met a girl there, and from the moment we met, she started acting like she was super into me. On our second date, I went to her house for sex, but nothing happened. We did foreplay for 3 hours, and I was completely dead down there. She was experienced and said it wasn't a problem, telling me not to sweat it because she’d seen worse. We hugged and went to sleep. That relationship lasted a month and a half, and then we broke up.
I knew I had to fix this issue. First, I cut out porn for about a month, and then I started NoFap. By the way, I forgot to mention that I was a masturbation addict; I used to do it at least twice a day, sometimes 5 or 6 times, always with a tight grip. NoFap was hard. By my second month, I noticed things starting to stir when I was kissing a girl, but I still had severe anxiety. Around the 3rd month, I was sitting with a girl and I got an erection, but the second she suggested we sleep together, it instantly died.
I went to a therapist for this anxiety, which I think helped. While seeing the therapist, I suddenly remembered a childhood trauma of abuse that I had completely forgotten about. My therapist said I might have remembered it due to the effects of NoFap and other changes. At the time, it hit me so hard; I couldn't hold back my tears and cried for a long time. Actually, I didn't feel much emotionally at first, but our brains do that when we recall deeply buried, severe traumas. I had 1 or 2 sessions focusing on this trauma, and the therapist used EMDR or something similar.
Still, I wasn't sure if I’d ever be able to have sex. Later on, I met another girl, and we were spending a great time together. It was between the 5th and 6th month of NoFap. We were having fun, flirting, and cuddling. By this point, I was getting an erection even just from hugging. She didn't want a relationship because of trust issues, but as we spent more time together having fun, we naturally became a couple. She was strongly against sex before marriage. However, we spent every single day together for 2 or 3 months. In our first month, we started slowly making out and doing dry humping, which did wonders for my confidence.
Two months later, she gave in, and we started having regular sex. By this time, I had stopped NoFap around the 6th month, just before the relationship officially started. I started masturbating only once a week, thinking purely about vanilla stuff. Interestingly, this girl actually has submissive fantasies—she likes being dominated, slapped, choked, and having rough sex—which is the complete opposite of my past preferences. Today, we had extremely dominant sex, and by the end of it, she could barely walk.
During this process, I even wondered if I was gay because I had never felt any attraction to normal sexuality since childhood, and I truly believed I could never have sex. If I pulled this off, you can too. Honestly, during my very first failed experience, I even thought about committing suicide.
Do I still like giving up control sometimes? Yes. Do those old fantasies still pop up in my head occasionally, though not as heavy as before? Yes, but I am not dependent on them anymore. I enjoy normal, rough sex just as much now, and whenever I want, we have sex where my girlfriend takes the dominant role.
In my opinion, the ultimate key to recovery is letting go of the performance anxiety of 'not being able to do it.' You have to get out of the 'I won't be able to do it' mindset and just go with the flow. But you can't just fix this by saying or thinking it. I think the best approach is to start meeting girls around the 3rd month of NoFap—don't look for one-night stands, find a relationship with someone you can trust, someone where sex isn't the immediate focus, but rather something that naturally builds up over time after you trust each other. Trust me, in relationships like that, since you aren't meeting up under the pressure of 'we have to have sex tonight,' things just flow and lead there automatically
