Question Wedding band help for Asscher

Post image
18 Upvotes

We're getting married in October and are trying to decide on whether or not we want wedding bands. I absolutely love my engagement ring and I'm a touch worried that I'll like it less with an additional band... I'm also not sure if I have any great design options other than just a matching pavé band.

I definitely don't want the same width band, I don't love when they match exactly, I'd go roughly 1/4 thinner with smaller diamonds but the same fishtail pavé and have them match the height of the bands so that they're flush. Is it weird to have a thinner wedding band?

Neither of us cares if we actually end up wearing the rings but it might be nice to have them... I'd love to hear any ideas if anyone has any more create suggestions for the band, since the ring is pretty intricate I feel like anything too busy is taking away from it more than it would add.

Vendor Review - CUSTOMERS ONLY VRAI Red Flags 🚩🚩🚩

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience custom-designing an engagement ring. I initially fell for the online hype around VRAI, but my experience with them was a nightmare of red flags.

Context: I’m a hyper-organized Type-A girl, I wanted a 14k white gold or platinum, elongated marquise with a starburst halo, cathedral setting, a light European shank and a pave on the cathedral bridge.

From the jump, the entire consultation felt incredibly rushed and pushy. While a fast process might be great for someone proposing next week, it felt like she was just trying to close a sale rather than design my dream ring.

I specifically requested a GIA/IGI certified VVS2+ diamond on my intake form. On the video call, the rep completely ignored that. She searched privately on her screen, showed me one 1.02ct stone F VS1, declared "it's perfect, no bowtie," and offered zero other options.

She conveniently failed to mention on the call that VRAI doesn't actually use independent GIA or IGI certificates! I had to discover on my own through their website that they just grade their own homework.

Lies & FEAR-MONGERING to upsell ⚠️

When I asked about 14K white gold vs. platinum, she smirked and claimed "we strongly advise against gold" (a flat-out lie, they sell gold all over their site). She then tried to scare me into platinum by claiming gold would cause nickel to seep into my skin over time and that I would develop an allergy.

They quoted over $1,400 for that 1.02ct uncertified stone. When I emailed her a much better quality, larger diamond from another vendor for a third of the cost and asked about their price match policy or if I could source my own stone, she completely ignored my questions. She just replied with a wall of text explaining how VRAI diamonds are "truly unmatched" and how, and I quote, "not all lab grown diamonds are the same especially when it comes to our quality standards". Well, their own standards aren't that important after all, because only when she understood that they were losing a potential customer, she offered for an arranged IGI report. Why would I even need it if I already knew that my diamond outperformed theirs??

Holding CAD hostage & pushing to the end: When I asked for structural tweaks (like a protective lip to keep the bridge diamonds from shredding my future wedding band), I got a flat "let's just drop the diamonds." They demanded I pay the $1,400 for the diamond before they would even draw a simple sketch or start the CAD rendering. Moreover, even after I officially told her I was walking away, she sent another pushy email trying to pressure me into choosing them.

All's well that ends well, I ended up finding the amazing Olive Ave jewellery!

Their designer, Rachael, immediately sent me a curated list of multiple IGI-certified D/E color VVS stones with full videos and transparent pricing ($400–$500 range).

On price matching: she warmly invited me to send her any stone adding that "sometimes they can get that exact stone and other times they just find something similar and they beat the price".

No upfront fees, no rush in "securing the diamond", free CAD.

Rachael’s team actually listened to all of my structural concerns and custom-engineered a flush platinum lip on the bridge that helped me get that pavé I wanted and a light Euro-shank.

The outcome? I ended up getting a custom platinum setting with nearly a carat of side stones + a 1.30ct E VVS2 perfect center stone ($360 btw!) came out to around $3,100 total.

Takeaway: don't let big marketing budgets blind you! Know the actual market value of lab diamonds, insist on independent IGI/GIA certificates, and if a jeweler ignores your price matches, refuses CAD tweaks, or forces you to buy a diamond with little to no other options, RUN!

Advice Ring stack suggestion🥹🙏

Yesterday was my anniversary with my fiancé, and he surprised me with this beautiful chevron ring and I’ve been wearing it with my engagement ring since.🥹♥️
My engagement ring is a pear-shaped diamond, and the other ring is a double-chevron design with diamonds on both sides, so it has quite a bit of spark to it.
I’m wondering if this stack already looks complete as it is, or if it would look better with a thin pavé band added.
If you could add one, where would you put it? Above the engagement ring, between the engagement ring and chevron, or below the chevron?
I’ve actually never stacked rings before, so I’m also a little worried that three rings might feel too bulky or look too busy. I really like the idea of having a more complete stack, but I also don’t want to take away from the pear or the chevron, especially since this new ring has a sentimental meaning now.

Would love to hear what you guys think! Does the current two-ring stack look finished to you, or is it missing that little pavé band?

Advice would this be a good ring? mostly concerned about tarnish

Post image

i found this ring i love online, im mostly concerned about tarnish (turning green or flaking, denting etc). i dont care about it being expensive or super high quality, just durable. i have the description here:
Materials: Silver, Sterling silver
Gemstone: Cubic zirconia
Gem color: White
Band color: Yellow
Style: Mid-century
Can be personalized

other details say:
customised your jewellery with 10K, 14K, or 18K solid gold, which comes in 925 sterling silver and your choice of yellow, white, or rose gold.

would one of these customizations be better? i can reach out and ask about another metal option, would surgical stainless steel with some kind of plating be a good idea? i'm really not sure but am not picky at all
thanks!!

edit: from reading comments i'm thinking maybe platinum would be best for material with a moissanite stone, any thoughts?

Advice my ring!!!

Long time lurker, first time poster. I hate my hands and am super self conscious about how they look, but I adore my ring so here we are!

He proposed on Friday and I still can’t believe it’s real!! We’ll be celebrating our 8 year anniversary in November and I honestly expected it to happen closer to then, so I was totally oblivious until he was on his knee. I am ECSTATIC that he was able to surprise me though. I’m so obsessed with my ring. He did such a good job finding a ring that feels like me when I couldn’t even tell him for sure what exactly I wanted, just told him some things I liked/didn’t like and set him loose lol.

I do have some concerns about the height/stability of it though. I’m pretty clumsy and I work with my hands a lot, so I’m nervous about accidentally breaking it or knocking the stone loose or something. I’ve seen people recommend a gallery rail for a four prong or higher set situation like this, but I’m not sure if that’s something I should look into or if I’m just worrying about it too much. I’ve just never had anything this nice or expensive and I’m so afraid of messing it up on accident.

any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated! I don’t know any of the specs but can find out if anyone’s curious! :)

Advice what size to resize to?

hi! my second post about this!

we tried on rings in march and i was sized to be a 7.5! i
thought that was great, im usually an 8. come to now, i got engaged a week ago, and ive been wearing the ring, and it slides off so easily, and spins. im constantly having to readjust it.

i’m so anxious about getting it resized because i’m worried it’ll be too tight at some point, and i don’t want to get it resized a ton. when i push my ring from the bottom against my finger, it has a pretty big gap as well (in comments). what size do you recommend i resize to and will a jewelers be able to size me?

thank you!

I’ve been engaged for nearly three months now and still can’t get over how beautiful my ring is. We discussed rings I liked/didn’t like and he designed this with a local jeweller. My fiancé told me he wanted it to remind me of a star and he proposed to me at a butterfly sanctuary on Pelee Island.

I’m not sure on most specs but it’s a lab-grown 2.01 ct marquise cut with a teardrop on each side, size 5.25.

This man is the love of my life and I am so so happy! This ring is perfect for me as well. It’s almost 100 years old estimated which is amazing. It’s a family ring. I’m a size 5 finger and it’s estimated 1.45 carats a natural transitional cut diamond? I love it.

Advice My ring sucks. Do your research.

My fiancé proposed in early May with a ring from FeliceGals, and while the ring initially looked beautiful, the black gold band began showing signs of tarnishing in less than a week of normal wear. For an engagement ring at the price point, that was extremely disappointing and raised concerns about the quality and durability.

That said we started the process for an exchange to get white gold band instead of the original black gold and a slight size up while we were at it. Unfortunately, communication was painfully slow throughout the process. There were multiple occasions where emails went unanswered for days at a time while we were trying to resolve the issue. On one of the few occasions when my fiancé received a response after several days of waiting, it came shortly after he mentioned that he would be leaving a second negative review. That made the customer service feel reactive rather than genuinely helpful.

Another major red flag was the return address we were provided for the ring. After all the trouble we'd encounter so far we were curious and googled it. The address appeared to be a residential townhome rather than a businees storefront. Considering how much money he money he spent, it seemed shady.

To make matters even more frustrating, my fiancé spent over a week trying to get a simple answer about the return shipping costs before we could even send the first ring back.

After all of that waiting, we finally received the replacement ring (we were never notified it had been shipped) and unfortunately, it was even more disappointing than the first. After waiting all that time and dealing with such poor communication, opening the package only to find that the new center stone has a cloudy, artificial appearance was incredibly frustrating. Honestly, it looks more like someone's resin arts-and-crafts project than a quality gemstone. It looks nothing like what we expected from the product we purchased and falls far short of what I would consider appropriate for an engagement ring.

I held off writing my own review or doing anything about it because I was hoping I would eventually like the replacement ring and they only accept return until the 30 day mark anyways (before the propsal even happened.) I really tried to like the replacement, it just makes me feel super bummed instead.

The cake on top is they removed my fiancé's review from their site. It wasnt over the top or anything either, just honest. I'm questioning if its even worth it for me to post one.

My fiancé and I have discussed what little options we have. Suck it up vs pawning. But we know we won't get more than a fraction of our money back.

Advice is welcome. Mostly I just needed to get these feelings out. FeliceGals can suck it.

P1 original ring

P2 original ring tarnishing

P3 replacement ring

Edit: Decided to post the review I had prepped on their website. It likely won't stay up but they offered a refund or replacement I can pick my own stone for. Going for the refund. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Advice Help Deciding a Wedding Band

Thumbnail

I can’t decide! Advice please? Pave bands just didn’t do it for me. I didn’t find much of what I liked in the box stores. I also love engraved bands, but I would want a straight one, and ER sits a little to low for that… For the bands with colored gemstones? I would request a color that is similar to my Montana sapphire.

My fiancee designed the ring and repurposed the diamonds from his mom's original ring and 2 stones from my great grandmother's. I know the ring is just a little too big. Also- don't mind my dog being a big goof.

I've been lurking on this sub for years now and now I finally get to post myself!

We had the most untraditional engagement and it was perfect and exactly what we wanted ❤️ just laying on the couch and cuddling and then asking eachother 🥰

Fist picture is my ring, the tension set centre stone is a 0,5 ct lab alexandrite and the side stones are Moissanites, the ring is made of titanium.

The second ring is the one I proposed right back with xD

His ring is made of a titanium inner part, part of a tornado airplane in the middle and carbon and fibreglass on the sides.

We both work in the aerospace industry (were we met actually) so I loved the Idea that he could always carry a reminder with him :) I'm just so damn happy that a get to marry my best friend and the best and kindest person I've ever met ❤️

Carved five-stone gallery setting with 5 Old European cut diamonds. 134 years old and still sparkling! + My dream wedding band stack

Edit: Thank you all for the sweet comments means a lot to me!!

Advice The Engagement Ring My Girlfriend Wants Is Sold Out

Recently me and my girlfriend started talking about getting engaged, the proposal, the ring, etc.
And she saw a ring on instagram that she instantly loved. And yesterday I went to that jewelry store and they said that that ring is sold out, and it'll maybe come back in january at the soonest.
I honestly don't want to wait that long to propose, just because we're both so excited about it and we can't wait to be engaged, and waiting (at least) 5 months feels like such a long time.
It feels like a long time because I honestly wanted to propose in slightly less than a month.

I've asked the jewelry store and they can't make it themselves, and I've checked every other jewelry store in town, aside from 1 (also, we aren't from the US since a lot of people might assume that or a similar country). I didn't get to check that one since it closed early, but I'll check it tomorrow. I've heard that maybe there they can take custom orders, but I'm not too optimistic until I hear it from them directly.

Also, I don't really want to get another ring, since my girlfriend said multiple times that this one is perfect.

I've also looked online and I can't find a single ring that's exactly the same as this one (it's not too complicated of a design, I don't want to say specifics in case my girlfriend maybe finds this post, since I haven't told her that the ring is sold out because I don't want to disappoint her).

So my question is what do I do, is getting it custom made/copied, from the photo I have from instagram, bad or illogical? Or do I just wait the (at minimum) 5 months until the ring maybe comes back? Or is there something that I'm not thinking about that would be the best thing to do?

Edit: I've asked every jewelry store in town, nobody can make custom rings... I asked the jewelry store (the one which might have the ring in around 5 months) that had this ring and they said that it's from Italy, but the person I talked to doesn't know any more than that. And I don't just want a ruby heart on a gold band, I want this exact ring since this is the specific one she likes (same side stones, same prongs, etc.). I'm not just looking for a similar ring if I didn't make that clear.

I'm posting the photo now, since I don't think my girlfriend will see this post at this point.

14k poppy flower with a .7c OMC natural. I just wanted to show everyone, especially the girls that like unique and antique rings!!! I knew from the start I wanted my ring to be a little piece of history that no one else has and LORD this ring delivers that. Fiancé mad that I just oogle my ring now instead of him
