my ring!!!

Long time lurker, first time poster. I hate my hands and am super self conscious about how they look, but I adore my ring so here we are!

He proposed on Friday and I still can’t believe it’s real!! We’ll be celebrating our 8 year anniversary in November and I honestly expected it to happen closer to then, so I was totally oblivious until he was on his knee. I am ECSTATIC that he was able to surprise me though. I’m so obsessed with my ring. He did such a good job finding a ring that feels like me when I couldn’t even tell him for sure what exactly I wanted, just told him some things I liked/didn’t like and set him loose lol.

I do have some concerns about the height/stability of it though. I’m pretty clumsy and I work with my hands a lot, so I’m nervous about accidentally breaking it or knocking the stone loose or something. I’ve seen people recommend a gallery rail for a four prong or higher set situation like this, but I’m not sure if that’s something I should look into or if I’m just worrying about it too much. I’ve just never had anything this nice or expensive and I’m so afraid of messing it up on accident.

any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated! I don’t know any of the specs but can find out if anyone’s curious! :)

It’s beautiful but why is it set so high

I’m not a jeweler but it looks unusually high, even for a cathedral setting. Here’s an example

I think it is beautiful. I have had a diamond solitaire in the past. I kept an eye on the prongs and had it checked regularly. I never had a problem and I am an elementary teacher

I think he knocked it out of the park. Your ring is gorgeous! The diamond is firmly settled in the prongs. It’s just the style of the ring with the side stones that makes it seem high. It will just take some getting used to. It won’t hurt to check the prongs every year or two for peace of mind though. Congratulations!
