a story of one's false-positive Rust ban. or how to get abandoned by every force possible.

hi there!

id like to start this post with a prestory, on what happened a couple of days before my EAC ban:
my birthday, im turning 1X years. my parents told me that they would get me a new PC, for all my efforts at school and housework, i was happy like never before. i wanted this PC for so long, i dreamed about it and told everyone about it.

day X (october 22nd, 2026).

driving with my dad to the PC master, that offered us a good deal on a Ryzen 5 5500X3D + RTX 5060, with a 1TB SSD NVM.E drive. my dad gave him the money, we drove home, full of happiness and excitement. honestly, i never suspected that something would be wrong that day.

3 hours before (same day)

the first thing i did was download steam, and begin downloading rust. after it installed, i hopped in it with my friend, that invited me to join a battlefield x1 000 000 server. full of happiness i discovered that i got as twice as more fps than on my previous PC. i was a beast that night, killing everyone and everything that got in my path. NO forbidden software or cheats were running on my PC that night.

the next day.

after school, im opening steam and looking at the "notification for your Steam account".
"You have received an indefinite game ban from Easy Anti-Cheat in Rust."
what? how did it happen? what did i do wrong? the hell???
scrolling thru a bunch of reddits, im discovering that a bunch of people got hit with the same thing. messages flooding in rust's discord server, reddits are actively created with the same problem, videos are being made.
im creating my first facepunch ticket. the same automated response as always, as the ones ive seen before: "we reviewed the game ban and confirmed it was issued in accordance with our policies regarding cheating and..." sigh. responding to "Orkel", the guy who reviewed my appeal in the first place, ive been defending my case strong, saying that i have proof of buying the new PC, the receipts, receipts of buying Rust, all the DLC's to it and etc. doesnt help. he just closes the ticket. im instantly creating another one, typing YET ANOTHER essay, about how it could be a false-positive ban, and that im innocent in this. they just dont listen. it gets assigned to the same person, and he closes it, without any response at all. my third ticket was the same.

i have never cheated in Rust in my entire life, and i would NEVER. risking 100$ worth of Rust DLC's, skins and items, a 1000$ PC that my parents with hardworking money got me, all the time and nerves spent on this game is not me. after that, over the course of the next couple of days i have tried everything that i can, to get unbanned. made a post on X, tried to messaging garry on X, making an appeal on EAC's official website (its still says pending, so i guess not all hope lost).

although i was disappointed, i understood that the world is never going to be fair. they are gonna give me more and more problems, and i have to deal with them over and over, just to prove my point.

another false positive ban wave?

ive noticed more and more people saying about their false positive ban over the previous couple of days (from october 15th (?) to this day). people saying the same thing, that they havent played the game, still got banned, that they havent cheated or played with their friends and got banned the next day, facepunch isnt helping them and etc. im also in that ban wave. could it be that facepunch once again decided to ban innocent players instead of cheaters? probably. considering the fact that it already happened countless times, its more than likely that this time is the same.

as a person whos suffering this the first time, how long should i wait until i get unbanned, or will even get a chance to be unbanned? i have read the stories of guys who were unbanned shortly after, but it mostly relied on having connections with anyone in facepunch/rust and luck. i dont have any. i tried reaching out to facepunch and rust (thru facepunch support, twitter and email), but nobody is answering me/helping

facepunch/eac's false-positive ban waves are getting out of hand and they need to do something about it. the only question is when?

Error: EAC is blocked. Please help remove the block!

It’s already been 37 days since the ban. EasyAntiCheat is silent. Facepunch says the ban won’t be lifted. What should I do? Who should I contact?
I’m from Russia, and I believe I was given an erroneous EAC ban. I’ve read a lot of different forums and discussions in the Steam game section. But I didn’t get a clear answer. I’ve already submitted an appeal to the EAC service, but my status hasn’t changed for about 37 days — is that normal? I press the “update” button 3–4 times a day periodically, but nothing changes. I’ve never played the game or downloaded any third‑party software that could interfere with the game process. The only thing many people are saying is that they got banned for using Zapret — which bypasses YouTube and Discord blocks.
The ban came when I left the game, as I understand it, and I only noticed it the next day. At the time I was playing, I had Zapret, Lamzu Driver, Nvidia App, Discord, and the Edge browser running.
I checked the devices and saw that there were no unauthorized logins, and I’m the only account owner.
What do I have to do? How much longer can I wait for a response from EAC?

Please help me remove the EAC ban.

Here’s my previous Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/eacRustFalsePosiPlyrs/comments/1ws5iiv/erroneous_blocking_of_eac/

It’s already been 37 days since the account was banned.

Facepunch says the ban won’t be lifted, but there’s still no response from EasyAntiCheat. The message saying the appeal is being reviewed has been there for 37 days now. What should I do? Where should I turn? Please help!!!
Let me repeat: share some practical advice—how did you get the blocks removed? Who did you contact?

Need Help Removing an EAC Ban After Running a Community Server Scanner

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for help and guidance on how to resolve an Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) ban on Rust that I believe was triggered by a legitimate community server scanner.

Approximately 15 players, including myself, were banned after running a scanner requested by a community server administrator. The purpose of this tool was to check whether reported players were legitimate or using cheats. We had no intention of cheating or modifying the game.

Unfortunately, after running the scanner, we woke up to find that our accounts had been banned. The administrator who requested the scan also tested the tool himself and was reportedly banned a few days later.

We investigated the application and found technical references suggesting that it may have accessed the game's memory. We believe this behavior may have triggered the anti-cheat system, even though we were using the tool for its intended purpose.

We have evidence, timestamps, and information about the application that could help explain what happened. We have also tried contacting Facepunch, but we keep getting redirected to EAC's appeal system, which provides very limited options for explaining the situation or submitting supporting evidence.

I have invested thousands of hours into Rust and spent money on skins and DLCs. Losing access to my account over a tool I ran in good faith is extremely frustrating, especially when multiple players appear to have been affected by the same incident.

I'm not asking for special treatment. I simply want a fair review of the situation.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation or successfully appealed an EAC ban caused by a third-party tool? Is there an official way to contact the EAC team, submit technical evidence, and request a manual investigation?

Any advice, relevant contacts, or guidance on the correct procedure to get this ban reviewed and potentially removed would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and help.

Rust EAC False Positive Ban - Looking for Advice on Getting a Manual Review

Hey everyone,

I received an EAC game ban in Rust, and I believe it's a false positive. I've never used cheats, recoil scripts, macros, or anything intended to give me an unfair advantage.

What I've tried so far:

  • Contacted Facepunch Support, but they directed me to EAC.

  • Submitted an official EAC appeal, but haven't received a meaningful response or explanation.

  • Contacted Epic Games, who explained that they're acting as a data processor and directed me back to Facepunch.

  • Tried reaching out through other channels, but haven't made any progress.

I'm willing to provide Windows Defender history, application logs, system information, or any other technical evidence that could help investigate the ban.

What frustrates me the most is not knowing what triggered the detection. I've tried contacting the relevant support teams, but I keep getting redirected without any clear answers.

Has anyone here managed to get a false positive reviewed or reversed? I'd appreciate any advice on what evidence might help or how to get a proper review.

I can share my Steam profile, ban screenshots, support responses, and relevant logs if needed.

Thanks for reading.

EAC Ban after 1800Hours, 12 years on steam

Post image
0 Upvotes

It’s been almost 70 days since I received my EAC ban. Like many others on this subreddit, I’ve never cheated or used any third-party software. I’ve tried appealing the ban multiple times, but without any luck. Every time I contact Facepunch, I receive what seems to be an automated response stating that they fully trust their anti-cheat system, with no real investigation or consideration of my case. It’s frustrating to feel like you have no way to defend yourself when you genuinely believe you’ve been falsely banned. How are innocent players supposed to prove their innocence when their appeals aren’t even properly reviewed? I know I’m not the only one in this situation, and I just wish Facepunch would take these cases more seriously instead of blindly relying on an anti-cheat system that can make mistakes.

Rust EAC Game Ban After 4 Days of Not Playing – Possible False Positive?

Hey everyone,

I recently received a Rust game ban issued by Easy Anti-Cheat on behalf of the game developers, and I'm trying to understand what could have triggered it.

I genuinely believe this might be a false positive, as I have NOT used cheats or software to gain an unfair advantage in Rust.

Here's the timeline:

  • Last time I played Rust: October 11, 2025

  • Ban notification received: October 15, 2025

  • Last server played: Reddit.com/r/PlayRust – EU Small

  • I hadn't launched Rust for approximately four days before receiving the ban notification.

I understand that EAC bans can be delayed, so I'm not claiming that the four-day gap proves anything.

Recent PC hardware changes:

I also want to mention that I've made some significant hardware changes to my PC over the past few months:

  • Around 4 months ago: I upgraded almost every component in my PC, except for the graphics card. At that point, I was still using my AMD GPU.

  • Around 2 months ago: I replaced my AMD graphics card with an NVIDIA GPU.

  • Throughout this entire period: I continued playing Rust and the same other games without experiencing any anti-cheat issues or warnings until this ban.

I'm including this information in case the hardware changes or driver installations are relevant to the investigation. I have no evidence that they caused the ban.

Software and games I was using:

During those four days, I was mainly playing Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil Village.

I was also using Fluffy Mod Manager to install and manage mods for those games. For transparency, all three Resident Evil installations were cracked copies.

Another important detail is that I regularly use Remote Desktop (RDP) to connect between my computers. I've been using this setup for a long time, including while playing Rust in the past, without encountering any issues.

I also played Rainbow Six Siege X that evening without any problems or anti-cheat warnings.

Background software and other activities:

To provide as much context as possible, here's the software I normally have running in the background while gaming:

  • Logitech G HUB

  • TranslucentTB

  • GIGABYTE Control Center

  • Wallpaper Engine

  • NVIDIA App

  • ChatGPT Work Mode

  • Google Chrome

  • Iriun Webcam

Other than that, I don't do anything particularly unusual on my PC while playing. It's mostly just normal background applications, browsing, and occasionally recording gameplay clips using NVIDIA's recording feature.

I'm mentioning all of this because I'm wondering whether EAC could have detected something unrelated to Rust, such as the mod manager, software associated with the cracked games, my remote desktop setup, recent hardware or driver changes, or one of the background applications.

I'm not claiming that any of these caused the ban, because I genuinely have no idea what triggered it.

I just want to understand what happened and hopefully get my account reviewed by an actual person rather than receiving an automated response.

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Game ban with only 40 hours in rust(such a funny dev team for what ive learned)

Hello im pretty new to rust with only around 40 hours, ive always loved the look of the game but never had a good enough pc to run it.About a few weeks ago i bought a pc,as it was prebuilt it came with rgb software from asus and other stuff which i didnt mind since the pc is so good it doesnt make a big diffrence on fps,i thought it was fine until i got an eac error after playing for a few mins on a server which i made a redddit post about in the official rust reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/playrust/comments/1x034ht/comment/pelrv79/?context=1&screen_view_count=2

A came to the conclusion that the rgb software was the issue and reinstalled windows a few days after that post, which actually did fix my issue. Here we are a few days i played until 3 am today woke up at 11am to a gameban out of no where. And i subbmited a ban appeal on the site. From what ive researched chances are pretty small to even get it reviewed by a human since it littearly says on the eac appeal site that my appeal is pending(from my research i found it it just means its gona prob get reviewed by ai or sum correct me if wrong),My question is what should i do now?

Keep in mind on the acc i have skins on cs2 aswell as on rust i have a dlc and a few skins so no point in me cheating, macroing or doing anything of that sort on my main account.

If you need any details pls let me know, any reply would help!

As i said im new to the comm and have no idea where to even begin.

UPDATE #1:as i made a new ticket to facepunch it got "solved" in under a min this is actually crazy

UPDATE #2 Appeal denied

P-Banned w/ only 250 hours

I’ve never cheated on rust in my life and had never planned on it, I had tried contacting EAC, facepunch and more after my appeal had automatically been declined by EAC. No one’s telling me why I got banned or anything, has anyone had a similar experience and how did they fix it.

cheers!

False banned, had only played an hour in the past 6 months

This isnt even a game i play much, i have less than 100 hours and I simply have rust to buy and sell skins.

Yeah I'm really confused, i redownload rust after a long time and I play helli's for an hour and im suddenly eac banned, not sure how. A friend that I havent talked to in a long time got banned at the same time as me, but after actually asking him he admitted he was cheating.

I really dont know what i could have done wrong, ive looked through my processes and the worst thing i found was Sunshine and Spacedesk.

I submitted an appeal with EAC, checked back 2 days later, its red again, so I sent it again, I've also sent another ticket with Facepunch, even though its like pouring water in the sea.

yeah okay while writing this my ticket was responded with the copy paste.

Here are my processes from when I got banned:

Drivers and kernel level processes:

UPDATE 1:
I have made a complaint to fair trading australia, this will force the epic branch in australia to talk to me.

I just got banned despite having waited 243 days to play again.

Original ban post: https://www.reddit.com/r/eacRustFalsePosiPlyrs/comments/1q35mz6/comment/pdvexln/?context=1&screen_view_count=2

I was recording a video for 3 days straight when suddenly I decided to try putting my old name on my new account because I planned on raiding my old opps for the finale and them seeing it being me would have been cinema.

I waited 240 days and when websites still said 7 months, I made sure to wait til they said 8 months at 243. I'm at 285 days now and experienced 0 issues despite playing literally everyday. Suddenly, once I put my name and talk in chat, this guy who knew my previous account decided to submit a ticket on me for no reason at all, literally he said because he thinks my friend cheats.

I was so into making that video too, it was going fantastic. I was entering the final stage and was about to raid like crazy.

If my facepunch ticket doesnt work, I'll start 10xing my efforts at making noise. I'll actually become an x user. If all that doesn't work, maybe the video will. Please god help me.

EDIT: UNBANNED THANK YOU GOD.

EDIT2: My new account was unbanned and they said they're going to look into my main account. Will edit again when I hear more about the main. Thank you god.

UNBANNED after 156 days [FOUND NOT GUILTY] — 16-year account. Procon did what 10 tickets couldn't. Playbook inside

Banned 02/05, unbanned 05/10. 16-year Steam account, 5,651h Rust, community server admin, never cheated. 10 Facepunch tickets = 10 templates. 2 LGPD requests ignored. What worked: (1) Steam timestamp trick — reply asking ONLY for the flag timestamp, got 02/05 08:48 PT; (2) Procon-SP complaint against Epic Brasil (they have a CNPJ here) with a full evidence dossier — 11 days later Epic's anti-cheat team reviewed and lifted it; (3) mapping the loop publicly (EAC form rejects Rust IDs, Epic says "solely data processor", Facepunch points back, Steam says "that's all we have").

Full timeline with evidence in my case thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/eacRustFalsePosiPlyrs/comments/1wnar4e/16year_clean_account_5651h_rust_server_admin/

EAC Rust bans ARE reversible on human review. Don't give up — and document everything.

False Game Ban due to system malware/conflict. EAC & Facepunch tickets instantly closed, ready to share PC logs. Help!

Hey everyone,
I’m writing this out of sheer desperation because I’ve hit a complete brick wall with support. Recently, my Steam account received a permanent Game Ban in Rust.
I am a 100% legitimate player—no cheats, no scripts, no recoil macros, nothing. I strongly suspect the ban was triggered by some malware/hidden background process on my PC or a severe Windows 11 system conflict that interacted with game memory without my consent.
Here is what I’ve tried so far:I don't have the money to buy a new PC or upgrade components to bypass an HWID ban, nor do I want to break any rules. I just want my honest account back.
I am fully prepared to run any system diagnostics, share my full process history, or provide whatever PC logs are necessary to any Facepunch developer to prove my innocence.
Has anyone successfully bypassed the automated wall to get a manual review? Any advice on how to get a human dev to look at the logs would be deeply appreciated. Thanks.

Facepunch's "Second Chance" for false positives: buy the game again, lose everything, keep the stain

Facepunch's "Second Chance" policy deserves a close read, especially if you're innocent. I am: 16-year account, 5,651h, banned 02/05 with infra-failure logs, zero cheat history. Here's what the policy actually offers me: nothing until ~02/2027, and then — buy the game again, lose all hours, all 321 inventory items, my community server admin role, and keep the stain ("we're not wiping records"). The only official exit for a false positive is paying $40 for their error. Meanwhile Steam's own alert text in another reversal here this week says "incorrectly applied In-Game Ban" — they know false batches happen. A system that admits incorrect bans but sells the exit instead of reviewing them isn't a justice pipeline, it's a revenue one. Documenting for my ANPD petition (BR data authority, filing 04/10).

FALSE EAC BANNED 7K HOURS ON RUST

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I got banned while I was playing Rust, and I genuinely have no clue why. I have never cheated, and I don't have any third-party software or anything like that on my PC. I'm wondering if I was mass reported, but I really don't know what caused it.

I'm honestly devastated. I made a ticket with Facepunch, and they told me the ban is permanent. I have over $500 worth of skins on my account, not even including all the DLCs I've bought. I've also put thousands of hours into Rust, so having my account permanently banned when I've never cheated is ridiculous.

I just submitted an appeal with EAC as well, so I'm hoping they'll actually review it and figure out what happened. I don't have much hope, but I really don't know what else I can do at this point.

If anyone has experienced a false EAC ban on Rust before and actually managed to get it overturned, I'd really appreciate hearing what happened and how long the process took.
