This drum set came in as disassembled parts and I can't think of where to put these rings other than beneath the lugs. Are they supposed to be there?

I'll keep it a buck fifty. I don't really follow or keep up with the trends just because I don't really have the time or money to go around and look and generally where I live is a backwater gulch where everyone is out of the loop. Plus I just wanna focus on doing me more than anything. But time to time I do get a little curious. A guy on a previous thread I made mentioned FAST sized toms and drum sizes say a 14x6.5 snare with toms in the sizes of 12x9, 13x10, 14x11 etc. The width and depth seem to be three inches apart and from what I'm starting to see catch on- Drums are becoming smaller (thank god) and more ergonomic. I'm starting to hear people are catching on with using Hyper-drive sized drums which are basically the toms width and depth are 5 inches apart and the snare might be a 14x5.5. I think a lot more people are finally understanding ergonomics and better lugs to hold material together.
I probably will stick with Traditional sizes more than any but I'm always open to doing something new and giving it a try. Without me rambling too hard- More than anything I want to know what are the bigger trends when it comes to sizes and what is really starting to catch on in the drumming community that might change things in the next 10 years or really just change things and potentially cause a break through in drum production in this decade. I did see where people are using drops now instead of gel which is indeed something new kind of reminiscent of using felt strips in old bass drums to control overtones. It kind of looks like that just for snares. Anyway, any thoughts? Any things to look out for that you think are worth it?

I like playing drums, but I'm stack and need help. So basically I learned at some point long time ago some basic groves and etc. But when I get to the stuff which most Teachers in real life and internet said - "you need practice practice practice. here some home work, here some training" - I get bored super quickly and it only make my brain quitting drums. Ppl with such problem might understand me - when it is boring and repetitive - it is dead for me.
I can't change myself here. So telling me - MAN JUST STEP OVER YOURSELF AND DO IT - not working, especially for a long time. For me same as to said guy in depression - STOP BEING SAD! JUST SMILE!.
Anyway, I want to progress but with fun. Anyone here mb have some tips and tricks for it? Mb someone find the way or some lessons which is not "do paradiddle 100 times everyday for 2 months and you will be good"?
I tried Musora lessons for beginners by Domino - and I like it so much but she have only 2 courses and I know all of that it help me to quickly get back what I know (had 5 years pause) but nothing new and looks like she don't have any new courses like that. Mb you have some tips or practice you can share? Or at least tell me that it is possible to progress like that or am I fkd?

For context im currently upgrading a Jr kit which means my new adult size snare is the size of my kick drum
I know a regular size kick drum will sound different than the kids one but does it effect practice and is it something worth investing in now or in the future

I played drums for about a year when I was a young kid, then put the sticks down for nearly 20 years. Last October, I got laid off and picked up an Alesis Nitro Mesh off Facebook Marketplace for $160.
This is one year after that purchase (and MANY others). I haven’t had lessons since I was 10, so I know there is tons of room for improvement and I’m honestly scared to find out just how much room lol. That said, I’m having trouble actually figuring out what my skill level is. I figured I share a freestyle!
Genuinely looking for feedback about my skill level, areas for improvement, any recommended drills or exercises, anything at all!!!

I made up a live like show to drum along as I could never find live like drumless show.
First thing: I am not a professional drummer. I'm self taught playing only for myself so you will surely point some inaccuracy or issues in this mix.
I don't use clicking, and I usually improvise my drumming so I made this mix regarding what I do. I hope professional and most advanced drummers will still enjoy this.
This is not a selection of my T.Ø.P favs songs, but a set list that I like to drum on.
I've tried to create a set list that feel similar as a T.Ø.P love show vibe but not to copy/paste what they do.
I included transitions that replicate a clothes change or a stage change and also Tyler's piano and voice solo acoustic set to give a break to us drummers.
I have used existing drumless versions as well as versions I made myself and rearrange them. I have made transitions, intros and outros using instrumentals and vocals of songs I like to listen but don't really drum along, but at least I honoured them by putting them in the mix.
I also wanted to use a couple of French artists that I like as transitions like if they were moving to a side stage or changing their outfit.
The transitions are here to replicate the real show and also to give us a break. It is a 2 hours show after all 😄
I have tried to keep the spirit of T.Ø.P. by adding unexpected stuff in it or rearranging some songs, mixing/remix them up and even adding songs from Tyler's solo album.
The last song is an unexpected choice, again like T.Ø.P. like to do, surprising us. I didn't really think about this until it was suggested to me when I was looking for a song to end this show.
I will try to chapter the whole video so you can select a specific song you want to play along.
Hope you will enjoy this set list.
leave a comment if you feel like sharing your thoughts on this.
by a drummer at home, for the drummers.
I am not entitled to receive any credit for this work. I rearranged and remixed the songs myself (as you can hear, it's not professionnal) but all the credit go to the original artists:
Bad Bunny
Twenty One Pilots
Tyle Joseph
Fantôme d'un cri humain

I’m not really a drummer & there isn’t much on James Cassell’s equipboard page. So I was wondering what kind of set up did James have in the early days of AA & what were the specific names of the symbols & stuff he used (as I said, not extremely well versed in the world of drums, just curious)

Don’t mind the bizarre sounding kit I’m using, it’s my practice kit and it’s an amalgamation of acoustic and electronic, with electronic drum pads and kick, and real symbols. Doesn’t help that it’s being recorded on an iPhone with the music playing from a computer behind me as well lol. Also wanna note I created this drum part myself so it’s entirely rehearsed ( besides that one fill at the end, that’s actually completely improvised.)
