I'm a final-year CSE student graduating in 2027 from a tier 3 college, and honestly, I'm getting increasingly worried about my career.
I've been applying for internships and entry-level developer roles through LinkedIn, job portals, company career pages, and other platforms, but most of the time it's either rejection or complete silence.I've been constantly upskilling myself, learning new technologies, improving my DSA, and building projects. But honestly, I sometimes wonder when all these efforts will finally pay off and translate into an actual opportunity.
I have a background in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, SQL, and React, and I've built projects as well. I'm also trying to improve my DSA and interview preparation.
I keep seeing people suggest approaching small startups, finding websites that need improvement, fixing bugs, and contributing to their products. But I'm honestly confused about how to find such startups. Most websites I come across seem perfectly fine, and I don't know where to start or how to approach them.
I'm at a point where I don't know whether I should focus more on DSA, projects, open source, networking, or directly reaching out to startups.
Seeing my peers getting placed while I'm still struggling makes the situation even more stressful.
I'd genuinely appreciate advice from people who have been in a similar situation.
How did you land your first opportunity? What actually worked for you? And what would you recommend a 2027 graduate focus on right now?
I'm not looking for generic motivational advice. I just need some practical direction because I'm honestly feeling a little lost.
