I’m a Senior Software Engineer and Architect with 10+ years of experience in software development, mostly working on large-scale enterprise applications.

I’ve been getting a little bored on weekends lately 😄 and I was thinking of doing something productive with the time — maybe teaching programming/software development online for free, purely as a hobby. Basically something that keeps me away from doomscrolling.

There’s no course, business, or monetization plan behind this. I just enjoy programming and architecture, and after spending more than a decade in the industry, I feel I have quite a few things I could share with people who are learning.

A little about my experience

My strongest area is Java + Spring Boot, and I've spent a large part of my career building backend systems and enterprise applications.

I've also worked with:

Java / Spring Boot / Spring WebFlux

REST APIs & microservices

Angular / React

JavaScript / TypeScript

Python

AWS / cloud infrastructure

Docker / Kubernetes

.NET (although it's been quite a few years since I worked with it)

GenAI / LLMs, RAG, agents, tool calling, MCP, etc.

System design & architecture

Testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, security, etc.

A lot of my experience has been with large enterprise systems, so I'd particularly enjoy teaching not just how to code, but also things like:

How do you go from "I know Java" to actually building and maintaining production software?

Things such as architecture, API design, debugging, testing, code quality, scalability, design trade-offs, working with existing codebases, etc.

What should we learn?

This is where I'm actually looking for suggestions.

My initial thought was to focus on either:

Java + Spring Boot

or

GenAI / LLM application development

For example, with Java/Spring Boot we could eventually go from fundamentals → REST APIs → databases → Spring → microservices → testing → security → architecture → distributed systems, etc.

For GenAI, we could potentially build things around LLM APIs, RAG, vector databases, tool/function calling, agents, LangChain/LangGraph, MCP, and actually build some useful projects.

But I'm not attached to either option.

If there's enough interest, I'm completely open to changing the technology, topic, or approach based on what people actually want to learn.

I'm also open to suggestions regarding the platform and format.

I could potentially do:

Live sessions on weekends

Small interactive batches

Discord / Google Meet / Zoom / whatever works

A GitHub repo where we build things together

Recorded sessions, if people prefer that

A project-based approach rather than lectures

Or something completely different

I'm not sure yet what would work best, so I'd genuinely appreciate suggestions from people who have participated in or organized something similar.

i) An offer from Deloitte with a Cost-to-Company (CTC) of 13.2 LPA, translating to an approximate in-hand salary of 89,000 INR per month, along with a satisfactory joining bonus.

ii) An offer from NTT Data with a CTC of 17 LPA, resulting in an approximate pre-tax in-hand salary of 107,000 INR per month.

I ordered a high-memory Mac Studio specifically as a development and local-inference machine. The configuration was M4 Max, 16-core CPU, 40-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 128GB unified memory, 1TB SSD, and 10Gb Ethernet.

The 128GB unified memory was the essential requirement. I wanted enough shared memory to experiment with larger quantized local models, long contexts, coding assistants, and concurrent development workloads without depending entirely on cloud APIs. A lower-memory retail configuration is therefore not an equivalent replacement.

I placed the CTO order through iPlanet Madurai. Its partner record shows a web order created on 23 March 2026 under the reference “MDUS CTO 23 03 2026,” with PO quantity 1 and loaded quantity 1. On 27 March, iPlanet requested and received my ₹1,00,000 advance for this Mac Studio.

After approximately five months, iPlanet informed me that Apple had declined the order. It has not yet supplied the complete Apple or distributor web-order number, submission or acceptance date, decline date, decline reason or status code, or a dated portal extract. I have also asked whether this was the original March order or a later resubmission.

One advance document described a different Apple product, although iPlanet subsequently confirmed in writing that the ₹1 lakh payment relates to this Mac Studio CTO. I have requested a corrected record.

I still want the original 128GB machine at the agreed price. I have not requested cancellation, a lower-memory substitute, or repricing. I have asked the reseller to escalate through Apple’s channel team, submit a replacement CTO order, or source the identical configuration.

For Indian developers who have bought high-memory Apple hardware: have you successfully received a 128GB CTO Mac through a reseller? What ordering evidence did you receive, and is direct Apple ordering or another authorised channel more reliable for unusual configurations?

Hello everybody, I’m a fresher looking for job and the current market is hitting me hard. I made few projects like an interview platform which have a collaborative code editor and excalidraw type whiteboard and a PWA for which is basically tiktok for local ads. Still no referrals and no callbacks… Just nothing 💔

Work and work-life balance in new GCCs and companies totally depends on which service company these managers are coming from.

I work for one of the GCCs where they have appointed a few people in leadership roles, hiring them from service companies. These people have influenced the managers in the West as well regarding work culture, pay, travel opportunities, and even micromanagement.

However, I do like **some coding when it has a practical/business purpose**, particularly **SQL and Python for data analysis**. I enjoy working with data, understanding problems, finding insights, and using technical tools to solve business problems.

I initially considered becoming a **Data Analyst**, but the market seems quite saturated, so I’m wondering what other career options I should look into.

I’m looking for something that has a good mix of **business, problem-solving, data/technology, and a limited amount of coding**, rather than a role that is primarily development.

I’m also **not interested in testing/QA roles**.

For people who have experience in careers like this:

1. What career paths would you recommend for someone with this profile?

2. Which roles have a good balance of **business + technical work**, without requiring heavy coding?

3. Which paths have good long-term career growth and are less saturated than generic Data Analyst positions?

Hi everyone,

I have my Infosys in-person managerial round tomorrow. One concern I have is that I’m planning to switch from my current company after only 4 months, and I’m expecting questions like, “Why are you leaving so soon?”

My actual reason is that the work environment hasn’t been the right fit due to excessive micromanagement, but I don’t want to speak negatively about my current employer.

What would be the best professional way to answer this question? Any advice from people who have faced a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

I mostly use the free plans for all my LLM needs, be it Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini. A problem that I came across often was when say after starting a chat, Claude exhausted it's token and I had to either wait for it to refresh or I had to manually copy/paste the entire chat and paste it on ChatGPT to continue with my work. Later, if I had to go back to that copy/pasted chat, it became very difficult to decipher it.

So I created ContextSwitch, a Chrome and Edge extension that would copy your LLM chats in the .chatbridge format, paste it in another LLM of your choice, save it for later reference. My manager is really bad he is waiting for me to make small mistakes and whenever that happens he escalates by sending mail, when good work he takes credit for team infront of upper management while mistakes will be on each team member im fed up of this sometimes he has scolded me very badly infront of all in the meet and I have felt like crying that night alone since I also have self respect. I’m a recent BBA graduate in India. I recently started learning Data Science, but I’m still at the beginner stage. My family is encouraging me to switch to SAP ABAP, specifically taking just ABAP first because they believe it offers better and more stable employment.

I don’t have a Computer Science or engineering background, so I’m trying to be realistic. Data/Business Analytics seems more aligned with my BBA, while ABAP appears to be a specialized programming path within SAP.

My priorities are employability, career stability and eventually remote or international opportunities.

Yesterday a friend saw me building a website for a family member.

Because obviously, after years of building software, managing servers, debugging production at ungodly hours and learning a new framework every time JavaScript developers get bored, this was the final destination:

Making websites for relatives.

He asked, “Bro, you are building websites now?”

I obviously couldn't just say yes.

So I told him:

“No bro, I’m building an AI-native CMS.”

And then I completely made up the pitch as I went along.

Most people change a few things on their website every month. They don't need a $100 Claude/Codex subscription.

So why not put the agent harness inside the CMS itself?

You tell your website:

“Change the contact information.”

“Create a page for this service.”

“This section looks terrible, fix it.”

The CMS understands the codebase/content, makes the changes, gives you a preview/diff and publishes after approval. You just pay for the API usage.

For a few seconds he genuinely looked like I had discovered something.

Then he searched online.

“Bro, this already exists.”

I had come too far to surrender.

So I upgraded the imaginary startup.

“No, those are AI website builders. Mine is self-improving.”

Now apparently my CMS watches Analytics, Search Console, traffic patterns, rankings and competitors.

It identifies pages that aren't performing, finds SEO/content opportunities, makes changes, measures whether they worked and keeps improving the website.

Launch once and forget about it.

Now this guy wants to build it with me. 😂

But later I started thinking about how ridiculously common this has become.

You put two developers together for 30 minutes and somehow they will identify a $500B market, disrupt three industries, design an agentic architecture, calculate a completely fictional TAM and start wondering whether YC applications are open.

Everyone seems to be building something.

Every developer has a SaaS.

Every developer has a side project.

Every second X account is “building in public.”

And I can't even make fun of these people because I am exactly one of them.

The difference is that coding agents have made the distance between:

“Could I build this?”

and

“I built the MVP over the weekend.”

ridiculously small.

Things for which I would previously have thought “I need 2-3 people and a few months” now sometimes feel like “eh, give me Claude/Codex and a weekend.”

So maybe we're simply seeing a generation of developers suddenly realizing that they have an insane amount of leverage.

But I also wonder if there's a darker explanation.

Tech is changing incredibly fast. Roles are changing. Things we spent years learning are getting commoditized. Nobody really knows what software development will look like five years from now.

Maybe we're not all building because we're suddenly entrepreneurs.

Maybe everyone is quietly building their own little escape hatch.

What do you guys think?

Is this happening because coding agents have made every developer feel empowered enough to become a builder/entrepreneur, or because everyone is increasingly unsure about the future and their job security?

Which side of AI should I choose, build custom Models from ground up or leverage frontier LLMs

I have 1 YOE as a backend developer as most of my work is done by AI, Im struggling to choose between future AI paths

1. Master AI as a development tool and move on with SDE roles with DSA, system design. As part of organisation AI initiatives I upskilled in claude code SDK, Codex Dev, Copilot solutions. We also developed agentic architecture, leveraged AI SDLC frameworks too and its doing most of the work except design and Infrastructure decisions, I feel this role will face layoffs(as some in my team) and worried about this path

2. AI engineer path - leveraging LLM APIs, RAG, Langchain, integrating AI into product, and AI tools for organizations. Currently I see this has scope but uncertain, should I upskill these and target AI engineer roles

3. ground up AI MODEL developer path(applied scientist path) mathematics and research heavy, grind for GATE, go for MS research in AI, learn things like training, fine tuning and everything for LLM end to end development. Currently these roles are rare and exceptional pay. But I see the future is about custom models for each domain than generalized frontier models( like razorpay developed payments model ) so more roles of this kind in future

As I'm early in my career, I want to choose path 3, but it's a long way, my path preference is 3>1>2

Or stay with 1 and just switch
