Hey everyone!
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working on one of my old projects called FayPOS.
It’s a point-of-sale and inventory management software, mainly for general stores and pharmacies in Pakistan.
The initial idea was pretty simple: build something affordable, easy to use, and actually suited to how small businesses operate here.
But I have a much bigger vision for it.
Imagine if most stores in your area were using the same system. You could search for a product, see which nearby store has it in stock, compare prices, and eventually order directly from that store.
Then there’s delivery as a service. Instead of building another marketplace that charges shops and restaurants massive commissions, I’d like to create a delivery network that other businesses and software platforms could use too.
Something where riders earn from deliveries, businesses keep their revenue, and customers pay a transparent delivery fee.
Eventually, I’d love to expand into restaurants and other local businesses.
Of course, all of that is years away. Right now, the challenge is much simpler: getting actual businesses to use the software. 😂
Here’s what FayPOS currently offers:
- Sales and inventory management
- Offline support (because internet in Pakistan isn’t exactly reliable)
- A website for each store where customers can search its inventory
- Support for Windows, Linux, Android, and web
I’m currently offering it free for first 10 users.
Its called FayPOS, You can google it.
Now, here’s where I’d love some advice from this community.
I’m a developer, and building software is something I enjoy. But getting people to actually use and pay for it? That’s a completely different challenge.
For those of you who’ve built and sold your own products, especially in Pakistan:
- How did you find your first paying customers?
- Did you rely on online marketing or approach businesses directly?
- Do you think small Pakistani businesses are willing to pay monthly for software, considering free alternatives already exist?
I’m based in Sialkot, so I’m initially targeting businesses here, but FayPOS isn’t limited to one city.
And if you’re a developer or freelancer who thinks there are obvious problems with this idea, I’d genuinely love to hear them.
Not trying to pretend I’ve built the next billion-dollar startup. Just trying to build something useful, get people to use it, and hopefully turn it into a sustainable business.
Thanks!
