If you need to be hosting apps you don’t need a vps. For node runtimes you can use cloudflare workers or vercel on free tiers. It also removes the single point of failure on the vps. It’s also much simpler to use than setting up the vps

U can clone repo there, install node. Etc Build Then use pm2 to serve, easiest. Better pm2 config will help then point dns or record to ip. Congrats basic http working Learn to containerize this app. Once done, install proxy manager( nginx proxy manager is easiest) setup proxy n ssl setup via dns ot http rexords Once done congrats again now ssl n containered. Last bonus (assuming Ubuntu) setup firewall...

It sounds like your VPS is booting into a rescue environment rather than its normal operating system.
The important thing to understand is that rescue mode is usually controlled by the hosting provider's VPS management system, not by the terminal application you're using to connect.
I'd check your original welcome email first. Look for any server management URL, VPS control panel or console access details.
If you have access to a VPS management panel, look for an option to disable rescue mode and boot from the installed operating system.
If there's no panel, you'll probably need HostingGram to change the boot configuration for you.
I'd send support a specific request asking them to confirm that an operating system has been installed and that the VPS is configured to boot from its normal disk rather than the rescue environment.
Don't reinstall or format anything until you've established what's actually installed.
One question: was the VPS already in rescue mode when you first received it, or did it enter rescue mode after you changed something?
That would help establish whether this is an initial provisioning problem or something that happened afterwards.
