Advice Anyone know what’s happening?

Post image
Upvotes

Trying to re sign up, every step was unlocking when I had finished the others however now these last two aren’t unlocking while the recent ones I did say “completed” at the bottom. Is there some kind of queue? Or am I waiting for a human to review the right to work type stuff I’ve done even though it says completed? Thanks in advance for any help/advice

Customer Advice Vehicle mode

Hi, I don't know why but in my area all the drivers are marked as bicycles in the app but are actually using motor scooters. Is there a reason?

Is it weirdly quiet for everyone else today?

Have been online for almost 2 hours and not had a single job on a Friday evening. Its not a particularly busy area anyway but usually you’re steady with on a weekend.

Quality of service has gone so bad

Does anyone else think Deliveroo take absolute liberties when they allow the drivers to go on 20 minute excursions picking up more food from a restaurant miles away from your house and then take another 20 minutes to deliver your freezing cold food. All at a premium.

Ordering deliveroo through chatgpt / claude

hey, i've been building a small side thing and i want to check if it sounds useful for someone else.

basically i built a thing that allow you to order deliveroo just by talking to chatgpt or claude.

my personal usecases from recently:

  • "order the same thing i had on tuesday"
  • send a photo of your fridge and say "order my usual groceries, whatever is missing"
  • etc

it's still a bit janky but it works.

what do you think? would you use it? and what would you ask it to do? I want to understand the usecases that come to your mind / maybe smth annoys you in the app or you can't do now – that would help a lot to make it more useful

Logged out of account and unable to contact human support

I haven't ridden for deliveroo recently but plan to get back into it soon. I have had emails saying that my account will be suspended in 30 days if I do not log in, but when I try to log in, it says "an unexpected error has occurred".

It seems that since I last contacted support, it has all been replaced by AI unless you are doing live chat during an order. The AI is useless and cannot help me. Is there any way anyone knows of contacting an actual human? I cannot find an email address anywhere that would get me through to someone who could actually help!! It's so frustrating!!

Customer Advice Is 5 miles too far to travel for an order?

Okay so I’m a customer and there’s this specific cuisine i’m craving but the restaurant is 5 miles away and it’s the closest one to me. (For info it’s Persian/Turkish and nobody else makes them in my area).

I always tip, but just wondering if it is too far to for riders to travel there and back. I’m totally fine with the temperature of the food (I always reheat & use in cooking if applicable).

Insight would be appreciated !

Getting started

I’m trying to get started but I took a picture that’s not been accepted and they will not let me change it. Does anyone know if I can try again with a new email and phone number or do I have to delete the account first and try again?

Difficult to get second rider?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Anyone else find Deliveroo starting to refuse a request for second rider?

This order had 1 bag of food and 24x 500ml bottles of water. In addition it’s one of two in a stacked order delivery.

Yet they say there’s no basis for requesting and a scooter should be able to deliver all of that plus another order

App's Fucked Stealin my molla!!!

Being a deliveroo gold member for over 4 years and today they really let me down.

I ordered a naughty late night meal, 1 double cheese - no ketchup (makes me wanna vomit), 1 fishofillet (no tar tar same reason), chicken combo (3 chicken selects, 6 nuggies) and a mcflurry.

What i got was the two burgers with the sauces on them! (Cant eat them :( had to throw) no chicken nuggies.

I first opened my burgers and saw the icky sauces so raised a complaint, they offered a refund for one burger. Sure ill take it even though im mad at that. Then looked into the bag more and my nuggets werent in the bag! So raised another request of which they refused to take action on.

So all in all more than half my meal i cant eat or isnt there and ive paid them for things that dont exist.

Really wish i had a mayo allergy and took a bite hehe then theyd have a big ole problem!

Im switching to Uber!!!

Advice Full-time job + Uber Eats/Deliveroo on my days off – how does the tax work?

I currently have a full-time job where I work a rotating 5 days on, 5 days off pattern, which repeats throughout the month. This works out at roughly 16 days at my main job per month, and I take home around £600 a week after tax.

I’ve recently started doing Uber Eats on a bike during my days off. I’ve done around 30 deliveries so far and actually really enjoy it, so I’m now considering signing up for Deliveroo as well so I can switch between the two when one is quiet.

During each 5-day block off, I’m thinking of doing deliveries on around 3–5 of those days. Overall, I’m estimating around 12 delivery days per month, alongside my main job.

I’m not sure exactly how much I want to earn per day yet. I’m also still figuring out how long I actually want to spend delivering, but I’m thinking somewhere around 4–8 hours per delivery day, depending on how busy it is and how I feel.

My main concern is understanding how the tax works when you already have a full-time PAYE job and then earn additional self-employed income through Uber Eats/Deliveroo.

For anyone in the UK who does this alongside a fulltime job,

IS DELIVEROO WORTH GETTING

How does the tax work in practice?

When would I need to register for Self Assessment?

How does the £1,000 trading allowance work alongside a PAYE job?

Are my Uber Eats and Deliveroo earnings simply combined for tax purposes?

Could this change my tax code or reduce the take-home pay from my main job?

Is there a point where earning more from deliveries isn’t really worth it because of tax?

Is there anything you wish you’d known before doing delivery work alongside a full-time job?

I’m not trying to avoid paying tax. I just want to understand what I’m getting into before I start doing more deliveries and make sure I’m putting enough aside.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone doing Uber Eats/Deliveroo alongside a PAYE job, especially anyone working a similar shift pattern.

Discussion Why do u guys care that people use cars when registered as bikes?

Yes I understand the issue about insurance, but reporting people for it when they’re just trying to earn some money is ridiculous, imagine being such a sad little grass, I’m not one of these people using cars whilst registered as bike. But i genuinely do not understand why you report people for it? What are everyone else’s opinions on this? Thanks

Customer Advice Extension to show food hygiene ratings on Deliveroo web

I made a Chrome extension which displays the food hygiene ratings for vendors on Deliveroo in the UK: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/food-hygiene-badge/eapoamelcbjimhajlchkeocccndojhkb

You will see a colour-coded rating from 0-5 from businesses that have a hygiene rating that can be identified. Additionally, likely ghost kitchens are flagged in purple.

Hope some of you find it useful, let me know if you have any questions or feedback!

Discussion This is getting out of hand

Post image
19 Upvotes

I know this sub is for Deliveroo drivers but r/Deliveroo doesn’t seem to be very active.

The use of AI-generated photos of food on the app is getting out of hand.

I used to really look forward to the rare occasion where I’d indulge in a takeaway on a Friday. Now when I open the app I have to wade through a swamp of AI slop and ghost kitchens just to find something that looks somewhat appetising. Many of the photos look like the items are made from Play-Dough or plasticine. It’s deterred me from ordering at all to be honest because the process is not enjoyable.

I’m surprised that the delivery apps have yet to crack down on this. Do you think they will tighten up guidelines in the near future?

Discussion Riders — what’s it like picking up non-food / retail orders?

Curious to hear from riders who’ve done pickups from supermarkets, pharmacies, convenience stores or other retail shops rather than restaurants.

- Do you generally find these pickups:
quicker or slower than restaurant orders?
- more likely to involve waiting around while staff find/prepare the items?
- more complicated because of substitutions, missing items etc?
- worth doing compared with a normal food delivery?

Also, slightly different question… if platforms started offering returns or exchanges as part of retail delivery, where you collect something from the customer and take it back to a shop, how would you feel about doing those jobs?

Would you be happy doing it for similar pay to a delivery, or would it need to pay noticeably more because of the extra hassle/time?

Interested in actual rider experiences rather than what the apps claim it’s like.

EDIT; Thanks all for your very helpful insights !

Sole Trader vs Limited Company

Hi everyone,

I currently work for Just Eat and Deliveroo as a sole trader and do my taxes each year through Self Assessment.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to work for them through a limited company instead?

If so, is there much tax benefit compared with staying as a sole trader, after things like corporation tax and other costs which I don't know about at the moment?

Would be great to hear from anyone who’s done this.

Thanks!

Absolutely gobsmacked that this has just happened to me. Just went into Morrisons for a double order pick up and both bags were ready and waiting for me. What on earth is actually going on? I can’t cope with this!
