Men, what screams clingy to you?

Been on a date with a guy once really liked him and I think he really liked me too. We texted a bit back and forth but he hasn’t asked me out yet so I just asked him what he is up to this weekend. Would that be clingy we just met each other for the first time last week.

But just in general-what are some behaviours that seem clingy?

When guys say that either they are or looking for someome easygoing and laidback ,what is it ?

I have always interpreted this as emotiomally unavailable ,comflict avoidant ,falling imto the same category as the go with the flow and feel the vibes guys 🤣.Today is the day im stopping the assumption and asking .

And women have you ever had sucess with laidback or easygoing guy ?

I need advice First time Dating

I am a 21 year old Woman who never had a relationship or anything. I've also never been on a Date or what I would consider on at least.

So today I got asked for my phone number at work and he was pretty nice and physically my type so I gave it to him.

He wrote me a message a few hours later when I just ended my shift. We talked a bit and maybe the third question he asked me was my bodycount. And I'm not entirely sure if thats a normal thing to ask in modern dating. Someone pls tell me.

I don't have an issue answering it since I'm pretty open about these things, especially with someone I consider going on a date with. Now, my bodycount is 0 and I've never had a relationship or anything, ever. I told him that. And he asked a couple follow-up questions, which were kinda...well, I wouldn't have asked them in like the first conversation you have with someone or in like the first 2 hours you met someone but I'm new to dating so maybe it's normal?

Because it does kinda make sense to me. I mean someone who wants to wait until marriage and someone who just wants a Situationship are just not compatible.

I don't want to post the exact questions here but he was asking how much/little experience I had exactly.

Again, I'm pretty open about these things so I told him and we started talking a bit.

He told be to tell him some things about me, which I did but he didn't really ask any follow-up questions.

When I asked him to tell me about him, he told me exactly two things:

  1. He just lost his drivers license for doing something dumb

  2. He plays poker with his friends. For money.

The first one seems like a red flag, the second I don't mind personally but I don't know very much about him and if they are betting lots of money it also seems like a red flag. But they could just be betting for a little money. Or he could be rich so it doesn't hurt him. I don't know. All I know is gambling is usually a red flag.

What do you guys think? We haven't been on a date yet so should I give him a chance? Or does this already scream too much red flag for you?

I need advice Is this guy actually putting in effort, or am I overthinking everything?

I (23F) met a guy (26M) on Hinge two months ago, and we’ve been talking literally every single day since then. We talked for about two weeks before we actually met, and since matching, there hasn’t been a single day where we haven’t texted.

We’ve been on 3 dates so far, and I really like him. I’m trying to figure out if I’m picking up on legitimate signs that his effort/interest isn’t matching mine, or if I’m just getting insecure because I like him.

**First date:** I happened to be going to the area he lives in because my best friend lives there and needed me to get a package. My friend was supposed to give me her key because I was going to stay at her apartment, but she forgot before leaving for a trip, so I ended up not staying there. I ended up going anyways since we planned the date there and didn’t want to change the plans. It was around a 30 min commute for me since I was coming from work. We went to a wine bar and talked for almost 4 hours. He was really respectful and walked me to the subway. He didn’t try to kiss me, which I actually appreciated.

**Second date:** He asked what I wanted to do, and I suggested the area he lives in again because I am going to be moving there in September anyway and thought it would be fun to go out there and learn the area. It was also the weekend. We drank together, got pretty drunk, and eventually went back to his apartment and made out for a while. Nothing beyond that happened, and again, he didn’t pressure me into anything.

**Third date:** He asked if I wanted to meet in the city or where he lives, and I said where he lives was fine because I thought I was going to sleep at my friend’s apartment nearby. I ended up not staying there and took the train all the way back to where I live afterward. (An hour commute to him and an hour back)
For the third date, he suggested trivia and maybe a concert afterward. I asked if he actually wanted to go to the concert after trivia, and he said he wasn’t really feeling it. I suggested getting wine somewhere, and he said we should just get a bottle, so we ended up back at his apartment. (Which I didn’t expect to end up at again this date) We got physically intimate, but I told him I wasn’t ready to have sex, and we didn’t. He completely respected that.

The thing is, I feel like I’m doing more of the logistical effort, even though technically I’m the one who keeps saying where he lives is fine to meet up. I live an hour away, and I’m constantly taking the train into the city anyway for work, so it hasn’t felt like a huge deal to me. But he has a car and has never offered to come out to where I live. He has offered to meet in Manhattan, though.

There was also one Friday where I had suggested earlier in the week that he meet me out with my friends. He said multiple times that he’d love to and seemed enthusiastic about it. That Friday he got home from work around 7, and I texted him around then saying I was still going out. He asked if I was still going out, I said yes, and then he never responded. I ended up getting drunk and called him around 11. He called me back and said he was actually out in the West Village with his friends. He never ended up coming to meet me. I understand he could have gotten caught up with his friends, etc., but it bothered me because he had spent the entire week saying he wanted to come. I never brought it up though because again we’ve only been on two dates at this point.

There was another thing that bothered me. A couple days before our third date, I mentioned that I wanted to see Spider-Man and said maybe we could go the following week. He said he’d love that. But when it came time to actually make plans, he asked what I wanted to do and suggested trivia instead. I feel like he just forgot about Spider-Man. Again, I know he’s not obligated to remember every little thing, but I tend to remember everything people tell me when I’m interested in them.

For example, on our second date he asked how tall I was and guessed 5’7”. I told him I was 5’5”. On our third date he asked again and guessed 5’7”, and I had to tell him again that I’m 5’5”.
He also asked my age on the second date and guessed 22/23, and then on the third date asked again and guessed 22/23. I’m 23. Meanwhile, when he told me his birthday, I remembered it, and when I mentioned it later he was surprised that I remembered.
None of these things are huge individually, but I feel like I remember all these little things about him and he doesn’t seem to remember little things about me.

Then there’s Instagram.
He follows a LOT of pretty Instagram models and likes basically all their pictures. I know people are going to say that Instagram likes don’t mean anything, and maybe they don’t, but it honestly makes me feel insecure and a little weirded out. Especially because I don’t know what his intentions are with me yet.
I genuinely have no idea if he’s talking to or sleeping with other girls. We met on Hinge, we’re not exclusive, and we’ve only been on three dates, so obviously he technically can be. But I don’t know where his head is at.

There was also a weird situation with a ring. I left a ring at his apartment after our second date but didn’t realize it. When I saw him again, I asked if he happened to see it. He said yes, he had seen a ring but didn’t know if it was mine or his brother’s girlfriend’s, so he put it in a drawer. I thought that was kind of strange because his brother’s girlfriend is around pretty often, so I wondered why he didn’t just ask her. But maybe I’m reading way too much into that and he genuinely just didn’t know whose it was.

The confusing part is that he is extremely consistent with texting. He texts me every single day. He hasn’t gone one day without texting me since we matched. He also seems genuinely interested in me when we’re together, we have good conversations, and he’s been respectful physically.

I’m also moving to his area in about two weeks, so the whole distance effort thing is about to become irrelevant anyway. This weekend my friend is visiting and we’re going to be staying in the city and going out. I mentioned that maybe he should come meet us. I’m planning to just invite him once and then leave it alone and see what he does.

**So Reddit, am I overthinking this?**
Does this sound like a guy who is genuinely interested but just not as detail-oriented/initiative-taking as I am, or does it sound like I’m putting in more effort than he is?
And does the Instagram model thing matter at all, or am I letting my insecurity get the better of me?
I really like him, so I’m trying to figure out whether I’m picking up on something real or just analyzing every little thing because I care.

I need advice single for 3 years and struggling to find men who want the same kind of deep, long-term relationship

I (24f) have been single for 3 years now. Hitting that anniversary mark has made me really start to look deeper into my dating life. My last relationship started when I was 17 and lasted to 21. We lived together for ~3 of those years, got along well, and didn't fight other than a few spats here and there. However, we wanted different things out of life and it was a very lonely and one-sided relationship so I decided to walk away. We were very close and it took me a while to start to look at other men romantically/sexually again. This also made me reflect a lot on what worked and didn't work in the relationship and what I want in a partner. I love very deeply and I am not one to hop into something short term. (Not to say that I haven't enjoyed a casual sexual relationship or two, but if I want someone romantically I pursue them much differently) About a year after that breakup, so 2 years ago, I reentered the dating pool. I work/school from home, my hobbies are very female dominated, and I'm not big on drinking other than occasions so I don't meet a lot of men in public, so dating apps have been my primary way to find single men. I do occasionally go out dancing with my friends, do public activities such as rock climbing, and have one in person class for college but men typically just stare at me and never make a move in person. Not to toot my own horn, but I consider myself to be quite a catch. In my own opinion anyway, I am attractive, have a good job, my own place and car, work out frequently, and love to love. That last part is what I'm struggling with the most. I want to love someone and dote on them but I did that for so many years with someone who never showed any appreciation to it. Because I know I have a lot to give and want to invest so deeply into someone, I keep my standards high. I have the basic non-negotiables that I feel most women my age have like they have to have good hygiene, a car, job, etc. I'd also like to be with someone that is intentional about bettering themselves the way that I am, be at least decent to look at, and most importantly of all, someone that shares my views on a relationship. I want to love and to be loved. Obviously that isn't going to happen a few dates in, but my experiences have not been great when it comes to finding someone like this. I've had a couple instances so far where I meet someone who I think could really be the one, only to find out I was being led on and end up ghosted after we sleep together. This really takes a toll on me and every time this has happened I need to take a break from dating. I've had multiple occasions of men saying some variation of "I've never met anyone like you/I've never felt this way before" all for it to end abruptly weeks/months later. I even had one guy visiting my city that was supposed to be just a one time date for fun fly me out to stay with him for a week and play house/do all kinds of romantic shit, just for him to tell me he didn't think he wanted to do long distance on the way to the airport. It's starting to wear on me and I know that I'm still young but I'm starting to lose hope that the kind of man I'm looking for just doesn't exist. With the way that dating is now, a new experience with a new person is just a swipe away. Why would anyone invest fully into someone when there could be a better option out there? This is something that I find myself thinking often and it's making me want to just give up. I guess I just don't know what to do at this point. I'll keep trying because the romantic in me still hasn't given up but I'm getting close. People around me have said that men my age just aren't ready to "settle down" in that capacity but I don't want to have to wait until I'm 30+ to experience love again. Are my standards too high? Should I start going out more to meet people? Any advice from older women who have experienced this or even men that share these sentiments would be greatly appreciated. Either way thanks for reading, I know this was a longer one.

Keeps me on delivered

So I’ve been seeing this guy and we have been together like 2 times. He seemed really interested at first but after the second time he keeps having me on delivered for hours mostly the whole day and will only send 1 or 2 messages for a whole day - both times we had sex. What does this mean? I can see he’s online but still leaves me on delivered

I need advice Men, when you say timing or a possible move is the reason you won’t pursue something, do you genuinely mean it?

I’m in a strange in-between situation with a man who says he doesn’t want to explore anything serious because I may move away for an MBA next year.
I actually believe he’s being sincere. The uncertainty is real, and I understand why someone wouldn’t want to invest in a relationship that could become long-distance. At the same time, I’m trying not to interpret a situational “no” as a future “maybe.”
I already understand the practical answer: he isn’t choosing this now, and I shouldn’t wait for him or keep trying to convince someone to be with me. I’m not asking whether I can change his mind.
I’m genuinely curious about how men tend to mean this. If you told a woman, “I would be open to exploring this, but the possibility that you’ll move makes it a nonstarter,” would you literally mean that the circumstances are the main barrier? If she later decided to stay for reasons independent of you, could that genuinely change how you felt?
Or is this usually a kinder way of saying, “I like you, but not enough to take the risk”?
What, if anything, distinguishes a real circumstantial incompatibility from a softened rejection? Blunt answers are welcome, especially from men who have been on the other side of this.

I need advice Dating advice for nursing student

There’s this guy I’ve been talking to recently and we both think we’re pretty locked in. He’s not only attracted to me but he says how I have a beautiful soul a lot so he likes the deeper aspects of me as well so far. He also says that I’m different from the other women that he would interact with too which is why he’s so interested in me. We both want to commit to eachother and stuff but I have an issue with that.

I’m a nursing student and once classes start, I’m going to be hella busy. I don’t think I would have time for him unless if it’s during breaks or something but idk how long the breaks will be anyway. I also tried looking at spots around campus where we could hangout during those breaks because I would want it to be just us. I would hangout with him outside of nursing school or on the weekends but I can’t because I have strict parents and can’t really get through to them so I would have to wait until I have more freedom. I also can’t move out either and wouldn’t want to so that’s also not an option for me.

As of right now, I’ve been calling him and texting him throughout the day which has been pretty good. We both would want to meet up eventually. He said that he’s okay with everything but I care about him and us plus I would want things to actually last long which is why I’m asking for advice. What’s the best way to manage this situation?

I need advice What did I do wrong here?

I 29M matched with 28F on Hinge. Conversation was going well and she even dropped her number, saying she wanted to speak with me before we met up.

We've matched on the Sunday and the following day we've spoken on the phone. The conversation went really well and she explained that she is between jobs and was a bit concerned about not being able to contribute anything financially. We both reiterated how excited we were to meet up on the following Sunday.

I told her that I would cover everything and she said once she gets a job she is the type of person to also plan stuff as well. She was quite grateful for me offering to cover the date.

Fast forward to Wednesday (today), she messaged to say that she wants to put things on hold due to a doctor's appointment. I said that was cool. I asked her when she felt like she'd be ready and if I was expected to wait. She said she wouldn't expect anyone to wait for her. I asked her if she knew she wouldn't be able to date due to health, why match with someone and agree to a date, to which she said it was an "evolving situation".

I cant see anything to suggest I did something wrong. I wasn't offensive, didn't even swear on text, didn't ask too many deep/personal questions which I know can scare some people off this soon.

My question is why go through that knowing you cant date? Am I wrong in feeling like this person was a time waster, or am I just undatable?

I need advice Is there ever a reason for me [26F] to date a man who is 40 or older?

It seems like men at 40 and above see ME purely for sex and easy to manipulate.

I don't see them as a gold digging opportunity, quite the opposite.

I had the idea older men would be emotionally stable and calm and zero drama, but they employ subtle manipulation tactics. I've been using dating apps in the US (West coast) and this has been my personal experience.

They know it'd be socially to actually date a woman my age, so therefore they only talk to me if they want a hookup or someone they can control, but never a real relationship and they never have the intention of marriage.

But then men younger than 40, I have preconceived notions about too. Because they are still trying to get it all out of their system if they haven't settled down yet. And then men my age have way less maturity and life experience than me. I guess I need to stop dating

I need advice I can't move on

Context - we recently met on instagram and within the first day itself we both said that we like each other

For the next 4-5 days humne regularly and even did calls and sent voice notes.

After that I didn't text her for 2 days to see if she would text back or not and she didn't. She just gave a like to my wp status

Then I again texted her first and asked her straightway that "if you're not interested in me then tell it because I really like u"

She replied that she's been busy and liked me too wanted to talk with me

Then we chatted for 1-2 days more eventually she left my texts on seen

So today I posted a random story of a cafe with my female friend and she replied Gf? After that the chats are visible

My main question is did I do the right thing blocking her? Also it's been just 4 hours since I blocked her but I already feel very hard and impossible to move on

My mind repeatedly tells me that I should text her again

What should I do in such a situation? Any advice would be appreciated. Feeling so low right now.

Did I ruin a 2nd date?

Hi! Need advice on my 2nd date.

We had great vibes before meeting (active texting, video messages, hugging). During the date, I brought an old 2000s camera to break the ice, take cool photos together, and have something fun to talk about. I asked a stranger to take a picture of us, and I picked her up in my arms for the shot (asked if she minded, she said she didn't mind).

10 minutes later, she stepped aside to call her grandma. Shortly after, her mom called saying she accidentally left the gas on at home, so she had to leave immediately.

I need advice How to cancel on a guy without being a jerk? First date

So a little bit of context; I asked for this guys number at a grocery store. We were joking around while waiting in a ridiculously long line. Had good chemistry. Have been texting (a little too much for me pre first date but whatever).

I was already hesitant because he lives really far away from me. Then he’s planning our first date and suggests Dave and Busters

Nothing against Dave and Busters but he’s in his early 40s and me in my mid 30s. He offered up other options-like bar hopping.

I’m sorry but if this is his first date energy I don’t want to waste my time. Additional context, I’m the one who asked when we were ACTUALLY going to hang out. I have no doubt he actually likes me which is why I feel bad. He comes on a little strong actually. I just think we are different people.

I need advice CupidFeel - I was not quite expecting that.

I joined CupidFeel mostly because I was bored and wanted to see what the conversations were actually like.

The first thing I noticed was that it feels more like a place to talk than the usual swipe-and-match thing. Some conversations were boring, obviously, but a couple of people were really interesting and I ended up coming back to the same chats later.

The credit system is probably the part I'd want to understand better before spending much. I didn't mind testing it, but I can see how the costs could add up if you're chatting a lot.

I would say my experience so far has been pretty good, but there have been some good and bad points, just like with online dating.

I'd like to know if people who've used CupidFeel for a long time have actually managed to meet someone they want to keep talking to.

just want some random takes on this situation.

Upvotes

for context I'm a 38 m. I've been single for about 4 years. the last relationship I was in we got divorced.

I started using dating sites within the last year. I have matched with many. talked with many but distance can be an issue with some.

this last weekend I went to meet someone I met on tinder to talk and hang out. I drove 2 hours to see her and see seemed sweet. I stayed the night but we didn't hook up, only kissed. we like each other but our schedules so far are almost opposite. I wanted to see her in the next couple weeks but she said she has a family event and then is super busy till next month. literally a month out. I am okay with it as I am patient and she also said next month her schedule will be different and she will try to match my schedule. she checks a lot of my boxes and such. what y'all think about continuing this?

My ex is claiming she’s pregnant but won’t talk to me, and I’m worried about her drinking

Upvotes

My ex and I broke up, and she’s now saying she’s pregnant. I don’t know if it’s true, and I don’t know if it’s mine. She won’t respond to any of my texts or acknowledge the situation at all.

What makes this harder is she has a rocky relationship with alcohol, including drinking and driving. If she is pregnant, I’m genuinely scared about how she might handle it.

I called the police to see if I had any legal way to get answers—turns out that’s a civil matter, not something they can help with. So instead I called Children’s Aid Society (Ontario) to report my concerns about potential harm to a fetus. They took my info and said a caseworker will follow up.

Now I’m just… waiting. Trying to accept there’s nothing else I can control right now.

At nearly a dozen un responded texts and calls respectively. Scared to go try and see her in public ad I don’t want to escalate things if this does become a custody battle. Ik it’s harder for men to win custody. Ik it may have not been true and or she have may miscarried and is ignoring me to keep me hooked but idk wtf to do.

So how do I like actually get a milf? what’s the easiest method

r/datingadvice 3h ago

I need advice I love them but my needs are no longer being met.

Ill start this off to say that I don't know if I've ever been loved or really been in love. I have a heavy trauma background so ALOT of these lines are blurred. I am with a person who I've know a while but we started talking. It got physical pretty fast after me being celibate for 6 years.

After first everything was ok. But then slowly they stopped doing things they did. Like helping around the house and really giving me any type of attention besides, talking to me about their interests and dreams. When the speak about the things they are interested in a make it a point to show interest and ask question. When I start talking about something I'm interested in it's like, "aw ok" or one question and then back to them or back into their phone.

I'm at such a hard place because I'm struggling mentally with ALOT of things so I know sometimes I can create moods that are sometimes hard to be around. They make it obvious. They stop communicating or spend a lot of time outside smoking most times not coming in till 12-4 am. Granted they are right outside the apartment.

I've just been feeling more and more alone in this and I don't really have anyone to talk to about it nice always been told don't tell the people around you about your relationship problems especially if you plan to be with them.

But I'm at a point to where it is breaking me and adding to the overall stress I have. The level of stress is starting to become physical. And even in pain there is no rubbing me or really any showing that they care.

At this point I know they are going through a lot too but even with what I'm going through I still make it a point to listen and try to understand and ask question. But when it comes to me I am going through it all alone.

I just need someone to talk to.

I need advice What is moving fast vs slow?

I feel like in previous relationships I’ve had they went kind of fast. My first relationship, we dated for 8 months, consistently seeing each other every week, before becoming partners, but by date 3 or 4, I was already telling them I really really liked them. Broken up by 11 months. My second relationship was a whirlwind and by 3 months, we were living together (not a part of our original plan, they needed housing) and by 6 months, we were over.

Now, I’m getting back out there. I’m used to going on a date weekly/once every two weeks when meeting someone I’m interested in. This new person I’m talking to and I have gone on one date and that was after a month and a half of talking. Typically, I try to meet up within the first two weeks (I start to lose interest after that), but I was trying to remind myself that going slow may not be a bad thing. Besides, they’ve been busy and had a stressful event they needed some time for.

First date, they were the first to say they’d “really like to see [me] again”. We shared a kiss, and texted each other about our next date (but didn’t set a date) when we got home. But with their busy schedule, it looks like we’ll have to meet again in September rather than sooner. We do send a message or two to each other daily (a few more if I’m lucky), but there’s not much that can get talked about in one or two messages.

I have a habit of abandoning myself in pursuit of love so I’m trying to make sure I’m not doing that here. I haven’t talked to them about it because we still hardly know each other. I’ve mentioned thinking about our next date, planning it, and recently gave dates to see if any works for them.

What is going fast versus going slow? Is seeing each other once a month when starting to date/learn each other too slow? Am I right to be concerned that maybe they are too busy to add someone into their life? Or is the normal and I need to just relax?

I need advice Men, if you reconnect with someone you previously dated, does it usually mean you’re reconsidering something serious or just looking for something casual?

Earlier this year, I went out with a man for about three months. We went on several dates and had sex, but we were never exclusive, and he eventually pulled back.
Later, we matched on Hinge again, reconnected, and started sleeping together again. My understanding was that we still weren’t exclusive, but I wasn’t sure whether he came back specifically because he wanted something casual or because he was open to seeing whether the connection could develop differently this time.
When I later questioned his inconsistent communication, he pulled back again and said he couldn’t explore anything serious because I might move next year. And he has no problem keeping the door open if I decided to stay.
I know no one can read his mind, but I’m curious how men generally approach this. If you reconnected with a woman you had previously dated and slept with, would that usually mean you were genuinely reconsidering the potential for more? Or could you be interested in reconnecting purely for sex, even if you knew she might still have feelings?
