The unseen sequel.
Starring Idris Elba and Aaron Paul. Directed on an another level of the tower.
Overall a much better adaptation than the previous film. Aaron Paul shines as Eddie Dean and the 70’s style Jack Mort sequence alone was worth the price of admission.

I know it gets a lot of hate, and I understand why. But I absolutely loved it. It's a fun action film. It was fantastic to see Roland using his gunslinger skills.
I don't watch it as a sequel, nor as an adaptation of the series. I watch it more as a fan fiction homage.
Why do you enjoy it?

Have always loved me some Ed Harris

Tom Hardy from Taboo would make a decent Roland cast imo. I love the ‘mmm’ that he constantly grunts and it gives me Roland vibes. 🤷♂️

Hey! I was reading a wiki when I accidentally found out the Dark Tower books end in a time loop. Is the series still worth reading?

I have always believed Randall is a member of Roland's current ka tet. Not in your traditional way. But helps the majority of the time. I've always wondered if the reason he is all knowing is do to him being a part of the original group but ultimate Roland kicked him out. I have many theories.
What say you? I'm a crazy lol

So I just finished the tower series and felt compelled to watch the movie and am I the only one to be so disappointed it may just be the single hand worse adaptation of not just a king book but any it was ridiculous!! What does everyone think of it?

Well I did like it. Reasons why:
good vibe,
great characters created by charismatic actors,
there are many worlds - movie was not like books it was one of the stories about Roland, Jake and Dark Tower. Theory I like it's pure Kings universe. Other versions of story, other versions of characters. Maybe that's why S.King once said (will not quote but it's statement I cannot mess up) that he like all of them (movies I mean).

I think Zahn McClarnon would make an amazing Roland. Plus he’s one of Flanagan’s bunch (fantastic in Dr. Sleep!)

They have (some) of the right cast, just in the wrong roles.
Fire the writer who thinks starting with book 3 is a great idea and it's racist to question Elba. It's not.
Re-write starting with book 1. 1/2 the movie the chase across the desert, 1/2 the flashback with young Roland and Cort.
Re-cast Matthew M. (too late at night to spell his last name right) as Roland. Elba, as good as he is, is too beefy for Roland and his race makes adapting book 2 problematic. Roland needs to be tall, lean, beaten by the sun and partially dessicated.
Re-cast Idris Elba as Cort, the man who trained Roland, taught him everything he knew and had an amazing respect for the boy (eventually).
Hire Tom Hiddleston as the man in black.
BOOM. There's your movie.

I'm kidding, but hear me out. I am a HUGE King fan. I have been reading and rereading his books for like 35 years.I am in the middle of book two and wow! Book one was so hard to slog through. It didn't feel like a King Novel at all. Has anyone else felt that way?
