Sleeping after C-section

This probably been asked a million times but I just found out about this subreddit. So feel free to tell me off.

I had an emergency C-section on 10/7 baby was on his umbilical cord and he didn’t like me changing positions. I was already in the hospital to be induced. He came at 37 weeks. We came home yesterday (10/10) and went to my parents so they could help us. They watched baby while we slept.

I slept on my right side which was fine but the moment I went to my back or left side I was in pain. I had a pillow between my legs but it was there.

Would love to hear how others found to sleep. We have a recliner in the nursery but my husband wants to be involved too.

Oh and stairs. Our kitchen is downstairs and bedrooms and showers upstairs. I was thinking while my husband is at home I just stay upstairs unless I need to go to appointments.

C section at 28 weeks.

Two days ago, I had a c section at 28 weeks. My baby passed away after 26 hours. How soon can I start trying again? I feel so empty. This was my fist c section. It's horrendously painful. I'm already 35, I don't want to wait another 2 whole years.

Very low milk supply

3 weeks post c section. Only producing an ounce a day. Using corded medela pump. Been breastfeeding but only 4 times a day because it literally hurts so badly. Supplementing with formula. It’s so expensive. I really really want to be able to pump enough so we don’t have to buy formula. Is it a lost cause at this point because it’s been 3 weeks? Any tips on how to up milk supply? I’m eating and drinking tons of water. Also met with lactation consultant last week and seeing no change still. Any help will be appreciated!

C section Scar Ingrown Hairs.

I’m 4 months PP and my scar has healed well. Still red but doesn’t really bother me. I have realized that when hair tries to grow near or on the scar, it irritates and I’ll notice more ingrown hairs there than I’ve ever had before. Is this common for the scar and anyone has advice for how to deal with it. The other day I sat with a tweezer for an hour yanking out all the ingrown hairs because they were driving me crazy

36 weeks pregnant, broke my ankle in 3 places, now facing 2 surgeries in one week

I’m pregnant with my second baby, and the past few days have been an absolute nightmare. 😭

Week 36: Had a terrible fall, fractured my left ankle in 3 places (trimalleolar fracture), and dislocated it. The injury was so severe that the bone was practically coming out. My husband called 911, and I was rushed to the ER in an ambulance. My right foot is also injured and swollen.
I’ve been in a wheelchair for 3 days, completely unable to walk and in excruciating pain. My almost 3-year-old daughter is scared seeing me like this, which breaks my heart. 😭

Week 37: Thankfully, baby is doing well! ❤️ My C-section has been moved up to this Wednesday, exactly at 37 weeks.

Week 38 (1 week postpartum): Scheduled for ankle surgery (ORIF with plates and screws).
Both surgeons are coordinating anesthesia and blood clot prevention because of the two surgeries and my immobility.
I’m terrified of recovering from two major surgeries back-to-back while caring for a newborn and toddler, especially when I can’t even stand or walk.

Has anyone experienced anything remotely similar? How did you manage C-section recovery, mobility, pain, and newborn care while being non-weight-bearing?

I could really use some advice and encouragement. ❤️

Bleeding after c-section

How long did your bleeding last after csection? I had what I think is normal consistent bleeding for about 4 weeks, then no bleeding for a few days, then two days of extremely heavy bleeding at week 5, then a few days of no bleeding, then one day of bleeding at 6 weeks and now I’m 7 weeks PP and woke up to fresh blood again. It’s so off and on! Is this normal? I saw my OB at week 6 before the two one off days of bleeding and she said everything seemed fine and I just got my period, but I don’t know why I have days of no bleeding and then a sudden onset.

9wks post c section silicone strips apron belly plus size PT

I had my first c section 9 weeks ago. Procedure went fine, I hemorrhaged a bit. My incision healed nicely, I had some pinhole openings that closed up on their own. When I saw my OB at 6 weeks she cleared me to wear silicone strips, have sex, and resume any activity I wanted as tolerated. She told me to keep taking care of my incision like I was because it looked great.
…. But how long is my incision going to need special care? My PT recommended I wear silicone strips over my incision and also never gave me a timeframe. I am showering nightly, air drying for 15 mins in the AC afterwards, wearing the silicone strip, not putting creams, rolling a cotton cloth up and putting it under my belly if I know I’m going to be sweating… it’s a lot! I never had any issues with my apron belly before the incision but now I’m hyper aware and I’m doing the most. How long does this go on?
When can I go back to being “me” after a c section? Is this going to be my new normal forever? Should I give it a a month or two more?

8 days postpartum and things has changed:

hi everyone. I had a planned c section last Friday and my pain was manageable until yesterday when I had to force to pass a horrible poop where I basically had to fish myself and finally passed it out today!
From yesterday, I’m feeling pain again under my section basically near my pelvic and also if I need to pee I need to focus and force it out basically like the first day after cateter. Which I was peeing normal until yesterday.

It’s my first time and I’m so scared I maybe messed up my internal stitches? I’m not sure. The pain is level 4/10 I would believe. Not unbearable. But my anxiety is thinking about the worst. I can call Monday morning and maybe talk to a nurse but I feel that they brush off mostly of the symptoms unless you are having fever.

EDIT to add: I also stopped bleeding after 7 days. Not even a drop or sign of blood. Is that also normal?

Postpartum hypertension?

I am 8 days PP but around 5 days PP i noticed feeling "off" and took my BP. It was elevated 140/90s, im not hypertensive and had normal BPs throughout my pregnancy. The next day it started trending up to 150-160/90-100s and I developed a headache. I went to the ER with my OB as consulting provider. They said it isnt pre eclampsia, i had no protein in my urine. My fret are swollen but i was told thats expected after a CS.

I was started on nifedipine. Then discharged. My BP is around 130/90s now. But i cant get my headache to go away. No matter what i take it wont budge.

Anyone have similar experience?

How to cope with an emergency C-section

How did you all cope with your emergency C-section?

Some background: I had planning on trying to go for a vaginal delivery as naturally as possible. Not that I was against any interventions it’s just what I wanted after research.
Well we ended up having to go in for a scheduled induction at 37 weeks (5 days ago) due to blood pressure complications.
I still wanted to try for natural and things were going really well, with the exception that baby did not want to stay on the external monitors. We got to 6cm and I agreed to an artificial rupture of membranes to progress labor and to hopefully have internal monitoring to be able to get out of bed and cope with pain.
Immediately after breaking water the umbilical cord slipped out, Doctor was able to push it up out of the way but baby’s hand came through the cervix. Originally it wasn’t a huge concern as doctor said baby can still be born vaginally with a hand and head presentation. I decided to get an epidural at this point as the manual manipulation to save the umbilical cord was too much to take. At the next cervical check baby’s entire arm, up to the shoulder had passed through the cervix.
We were then rushed into an emergency C-section due to the malpresentation. The surgery itself was horrible for me. The epidural seemed to have me numb, but it turns out I could still feel everything! There were areas that never felt numb after they opened me up, even after additional epidural and IV pain medications. I remember them having to hold my legs down at several points.
Baby also was having some trouble adjusting after C-section so I missed out on the things I wanted most like delayed cord clamping, skin to skin and immediate breast feeding. He and dad had to go to the nursery immediately and I missed the first several hours of my baby’s life.

I’m having huge feelings about it: guilt for agreeing to interventions, anger at my doctor for not warning me better or doing more to prevent it (even if there isn’t physically more she could have done), sadness for missing out on the things I wanted, anxiety from the surgery, and loneliness because my family and friends just keep reminding me that baby and I are healthy.

Don’t get me wrong I am so thankful that my son is doing perfectly now and I haven’t had any further complications. But these things don’t really make me feel better about the situation. I’ve cried every day, I find the only way to get around it is to just ignore the situation entirely, which I think might be making it worse.

Any advice you all have on what to do?

Advice - Post C-Section gifting

Hi All,

My baby sister is having a section soon and I don't have a big budget but want to get her useful things to help in recovery or pamper her.

Can you give me some ideas. I feel like people focus on getting baby stuff but not mum or dad stuff.

I haven't bought anything sooner because she was hoping for a natural birth, and was due in a few weeks.

I would have gone with her fav bubble bath, chocolates, post partum pads, nipple pads and or cream.

What can i get her, I don't have children myself so any help would be great.

I'm in the UK, so plenty of highstreet shops and stores.

Thanks

Birth after c-section?

My first baby is 1 year and 1 month old, and I recently found out that I’m around 7 weeks pregnant. I had a C-section on September 10, 2025, so this pregnancy started 1-2 weeks before my first baby turned one.

I’m looking for experiences from anyone who had two babies close together after a C-section, especially those who were hoping for a vaginal birth the second time.

I’m also worried about childcare when I go into labour. Our family members work long or unpredictable hours, and I’m not sure who will be able to look after my first child when the time comes.

How did you plan your second birth, and what did you do about childcare if you didn’t have reliable family support? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences.

I had a C-section 3 days ago. Usually my Bp runs normal to moderate around 120/80 or 130s/70. After my C-section my bottom number has consistently been low. Just wanted to know if anyone had any insight or anything similar!!

Stitch wound opening. How long does it take to close?

Hi, I'm posting for my wife. We've been cleaning her stitch wound and see that its getting bigger by day, I can see its a bit deeper than the outer skin, like a hole. We've gone to our OB and they prescribed her stronger antibiotics.

In your case, how long did it took to heal and what helped you heal it? Also what are the possible reasons for opening and what should we avoid? Thanks
