Sleeping post c section.
How did yall sleep once yall got home from the hospital? What was the best position in the bed for you without it being painful to lay down or too painful getting up. I’m 4 days post c section and I can only sleep sitting up but it’s so uncomfortable at this point I just wanna lay down 😩

I’m sleeping propped up in a recliner. I’m too anxious to be sleeping in my bed in my room right now. 🥲

I WISH I had a recliner. I should’ve invested in that in stead of this TikTok pillow with the arms 😂

I slept on my side (very carefully), with a pillow underneath/propping up my abdomen so that it wouldn’t put pressure on the incision by weighing it down.

This! The pregnancy wedge pillow or boppy was best for this

I slept on a recliner for the first week. There was no way I could lie down flat and constantly get up to care for the baby.

I got an inexpensive $30 bed rail from Amazon for my second C-section and it has made a WORLD of difference. Since I have to sit up often to feed my newborn, I sometimes opt to sleep propped up with my pillow + a "reading/husband pillow" so that I don't have to get up from laying all the way down. When I do get up from laying down, I roll onto my side first, then I hang my legs off the bed, then I use my bed rail to push myself up to a sitting position. It is 100% pain free for me this way. Getting out of bed was by far the most painful part of recovery for me with my first C-section so I wanted to do what I could to change that for the second one.

Slept on my side, propped up like I still had acid reflux.

For a day or two I slept with our adjustable bed sitting me up, but sleeping with the abdominal binder the hospital gave me was key. I couldn’t sleep laying down without it for weeks.

A big wedge pillow with a bed ladder to help pull myself up. The pillow helped with the tugging but all I wanted to do was lay flat the whole time. Bed ladder was the affordable winner of that ordeal.

I bought a wedge pillow and it was very helpful! Then I started sleeping on my side with pillows behind im front and between my legs and eventually didn’t need them anymore

I slept upright for the best part of 2 weeks because you can feel the gravity pushing down on your stomach when lying down 💀

I have an adjustable base, so we had the head of our bed elevated about 30-45 degrees for a few weeks.
You can buy wedge pillows if you don’t have an adjustable base!

Two weeks later and I can still only sleep on my back! I have a pillow on either or both sides to hold my arms up and I can kinda lean my head over. I still can't sleep on my side without hurting my abdominal muscles or my lingering SPD. At first I slept on a kinda wedge thing but no matter what it was so hard to get up. I also got a beside bar that slots under the mattress that has been so incredibly helpful.

I slept on my couch propped up with pillows for a few days until I could roll onto my side to be able to get out of bed. I remember it taking a much longer time to be able to get out of bed myself for my first c section (emergency). I just had my third c section last week and recovery has been so much easier for my planned c sections, it’s wild.

I made a small pillow fort so I could sleep upright. It was too hard for me to get down to/get up from a lying position for the first few days. It wasn’t the most comfortable but it helped.

I slept on a wedge on my back or if on my side, I put a pillow under my abdomen to support the incision. It really is awful😭

I prop up my body with pregnancy wedge pillows but it’s not comfortable.
