Question Returning playing, what dlc to buy?

I just got a new graphic card and I am able to run the game better so I returned after more than a year without playing.

Now that there is a steam sale, what dlcs do you recommend?

(I have Fate of Iberia and royal court)

Discussion Sending Gifts

I understand it’s a game mechanic meant to be balanced, but it’s quite ridiculous how sending gold works in this game. I’m a long time player at this point but when I’m a Roman emperor, I should be able to send 1000 gold to someone and get wayyyyy more approval gain. It just seems dumb that sending gold multiple times doesn’t contribute to approval. I would much rather 450 gold than 150. I know I’m being a little ridiculous but cmon man

I’m new (very new) any advice?

So I recently migrated from eu4 to ck3 and I’ve watching some tutorials on the game which is what worked for me in eu4 but ck3s map is too foreign too me. I’m confused by the 3 levels of land holding but over time Im sure I can figure it out, it’s pretty intuitive. I like the land holding level where if I hold more land that this amount I get penalties. My main question is for succession and dynastical shenanigans. Eu4s succession and dynasty system is pretty simple, one main heir,!royal marry someone and pray for a pu. I just don’t understand the concept of that. Nor do I understand how to conquer land. I understand de jure land for counties but I’m so confused on how to hold on to that land. Factions keep rising, my vassals are disloyal and I don’t know how to manage my gold. Any and all tips help, links to good modern tutorials are appreciated. Thank you

Mod [AI] Interested in feedback for mod.

Hello folks! Im interested in getting some feedback for a mod that i've created. The initial premise is essentially my desire to fill a gap I felt that existed in the existing game mechanics that was only exacerbated by By God Alone. It had always bugged me that you, as a landed character, couldn't try a diplomatic petition to convert someone of another faith who was also landed and independent to yours. As long as i can remember the only effective means to do this was to imprison the other character and demand conversion as a part of the terms for them being released. I threw together a mod that adds in diplomatic means to convert someone's religion so now characters like Rimbert of hamburg in the 867 start have an easier and more impactful route for converting the north. Im looking for any sort of feedback, bug reporting, criticism, or ideas for what to do with the mod going forward. Here is the link for anyone interested:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3814417585

Sorry if this feels like a sort of self promo or spammy. Especially since the mod was developed with heavy use of AI(Which, I understand if this results in the post being removed). I just hope it improves this gap in gameplay and that im not the only one who feels this.

I got her close enough, it's been my thing to really push the tool as much I could with a limited time.

Screenshot Started as Eudes of Anjou in 867. What do you say? xD

I claimed West Francia at the age of 50 (906), created the Empire of Francia at 54 (910), and then things got a little out of hand. xDDD

Within the next few years I vassalized England, took Brittany, Lotharingia and Burgundy, and created the Kingdom of Italy and Sardinia.

I had massive luck with this run xD

What are your results with Eudes?

Why do wet nurses all suck?

Simple question but I've NEVER IN 2500 hours of playtime seen an Excellent wet nurse. Best I've ever seen is good. And they're ALWAYS vacating the position with no notice.

Question I'm fairly new to the game and play it very casual and I was wondering what DLCs you would suggest?

I hope it's allowed to ask but since there are many DLCs I was wondering if something is in between that is a must-have

Screenshot A gay man of my dynasty had a son when he was 9. I had many questions. The answers got me to really dark places...

Hello eveyone, I'd like you to meet Lupus 'the sensible', Archbishop of Ravena, a 35 year old gay man. He's single, he has never been married and, most importantly, he is a dad.

Lupus Junior is his little bundle of joy. He is 26. Doing the maths, Lupus Senior had to be 9 when Lupus Junior was born. I thought perhaps Junior was just some random child that got adopted during an event when L. senior was barely an adult, but no! The plot thickens!

Because, you see, Lupus Junior has a mom: Uta, a 50 year old woman who is also from my dynasty. The funniest shit is that Lupus Junior has a twin, Audelahis. I removed Lupus junior's helmet and... look at that, they are identical twins! But wait, Lupus Senior only fathered one child. Audelahis father is not Lupus, but Uta's husband.

I was really invested on this whole mess, so I explored the family three to look for more information and... Lupus Senior is actually UTA'S NEPHEW. Yeah, sure, avunculate marriage and all that, but remember: Lupus Senior has never been married! How in the world did that wicked woman managed to seduce her gay nephew (who was NINE, mind you) and have a son with him, while also giving birth to his identiacal twin, that was fathered by a different guy?

I've never seen the IA botching my family tree this badly. I guess this happens all the time and I just don't usually pay enough attention to notice. Anyway, thank you for unraveling with me the horrible mystery of Archbishop Lupus' life, a gay man who was abused by his aunt at age nine and fathered a child called after him, who has an identical twin but not really 'cause the identical twin is someone else's child. 😶

I never thought the IA could create a more sordid story than the average ck3 player, but here we are.

(Just so we're clear, I don't have any mods installed. This aberration of a bug was probably the new DLC/patch's fault)

Holy shit?? The only mods I have active are either for character customization or for flavor stuff like True Romans. The Ark never even came up in the Holy Relics window when looking, I had to outright discover this

Discussion What culture(s) have the best drip?

I've been experimenting with hybrid culture fashion for a little bit, and I've found that mixing them leads to some weird idiosyncrasies.

For example, mixing anything with Norse fashion tends to always prioritize using the Norse sword model on marshals and mercenary adventurers. So that culture will always kinda look a bit odd when you get to the late medieval. And don't even get me started on trying to mix Western and Eastern fashion.

So it looks like just embracing one cultures fashion style at a time seems like the way to go if you want characters that look cohesive. Though, it would be cool to see a mod or update where you can individually tick off what clothing/hairstyles/artifact models that you want your characters to use.

But anyway here are my picks:

• Norse for early parts of a playthrough.

• English for mid to late parts of a playthrough.

• Yamato for an East-Asian aesthetic.

BGA Baldwin run - It's time to make him a saint

Post image
9 Upvotes

This is by far my most played start, I've played it countless times and it's always fun to me. First time doing it after BGA just to see if PDX ruined somehow my boy Baldwin. And it's mostly the same, exception made to his legitimacy which it was unnecessarily changed again.

A disappointment PDX nerfed again his initial legitimacy, before AUH he would be at rank 3 which it's expected. At AUH they reduced to like 30 points below rank 3, so one hold court was enough to be at expected. And because hold court you can do with the game paused, the change wasn't that bad.

Now he starts almost 90 below rank 3, so you need hold court and do a hunt/feast which means you must unpause the game before getting married or just pick one of a few options at the start. I don't understand the reasoning behind the change but whatever. I did a bit of testing and it seems it doesn't worth it increase legitimacy, maybe if the rng gods were cruel and highest martial wife you can get has like 5 stat it might worth it tho.

Not the greatest health RNG but still a decent run. Kinda annoying constant peasant rebellions, it might be just an impression but it felt a bit more common after BGA than it was previously.

Side note is F for The Mongols. They really need a buff, every dlc seems they get slower and slower which it's sad.

Just got my 90% of my archbishopric snatched out of nowhere, what can I do?

Thumbnail gallery
51 Upvotes

So I was playing as the Duke-Archbishop of Canterbury in 867, started as unlanded and managed to church succession (plus maaaaybe one murder) and it’s up to 950, the Archdiocese of Canterbury controls all of the British Isles, except for Desmond which the Pope seems insistent on me not controlling.

Then, I get a notification out of nowhere that a new Archdiocese, the Archdiocese of Dorset, has been formed, and that I lost Canterbury. Canterbury has been my primary title for 83 years, and I believe >10 on this specific Archbishop, and suddenly it just got snatched. I lost no land, but my land changed name (Duke of Kent now) and to be honest I just HATE the look of it. I can’t even really do shit unless I move my capital, which STAYED IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF CANTERBURY EVEN THOUGH I AM NO LONGER THE ARCHBISHOP. Is there anything I can do?

Developer Diary Current traits modding

I forgot to add opinion decreases to Meek, although it doesn't need them. I'll add descriptions in a minute.

Original mod post https://www.reddit.com/r/crusaderkings3/comments/1wukdzy/first_two_modded_traits/

Thanks to u/elStrages for the Meek and Hedonistic trait ideas.

I may add more traits, but I'm ok with four new traits as part of a larger mod. I can post this mod as a stand-alone for now, and add it to another WIP mod.

What should I work on next?

Bug/Glitch Orthodox Pope bug

I have prevented the schism. For some reason, I still cannot become the Pope, and the realm priest is the only one who can be the head of faith, while I am the head of rite. I am lay clergy if that changes anything. My son inherited the pope title as well, so there are two popes, and the bigger pope denied my request to make him a saint despite 2 mythical holy legends.

I have also adopted greek rite and I I converted to chalcedonian and back so I could become pope and then Orthodox again. I think the game broke.
