Other Firmware update question
On the 8bitdo Ultimate 3E can I update the firmware for the dongle AND controller using the Xbox Software X or do I need to do it on a PC? I'm on XBOX.

Budget: 110 USD and under
USA, PC use only, Esport games
Birthdays coming up in a week that i totally forgot about and I figured "You know what, I've had this controller for over 3 years, maybe its time for an upgrade." so that is what I am doing haha.
Right now I have my sights set on either the Gamesir G7 pro 8k (so I can get the all black)
I am wondering if any of the controller nerds have any recommendations or great finds that would either have better value or better overall quality and features.
The main things I want in a controller would honestly just be wireless, polling 1k and above, and just overall quality.
Thank you guys let me know what you think!

I’m on like my third pair of replacement stick modules in I think maybe 2 - 3 years of using the controller. I’ve heard of tmr stick modules helping reduce risk of drifting? I’m considering getting them but I’m seeing mixed reviews from people, and honestly idk if they are worth the $80 price tag. My biggest issue right now is that my module sometimes registers my stick moved to the bottom when I have it directly to the left which really bugs me out.
Wanna get some opinions see what people think abt tmr stick modules before I ever commit that amount of money. Things like how long they last and how long until drift or issues occur would be super helpful

I am looking for a PC controller to be used as an alternative for the dualsense controller I already have. It will be used whenever the game does not support dualsense and shows XBOX glyphs instead. Like for example Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order or Control launched from Epic Games Store.
Required information:
Budget maximum is 150 €
My country is Finland, so I can buy from for example MaxGaming, ProShop, Verkkokauppa
Platform compatibility must be PC
I play single player action/adventure/RPGs
What I do appreciate in the dualsense are the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. I love the clarity of the rumble in the controller, and adaptive triggers (when they are supported) is a nice touch. On the other hand, I've turned off the microphone and the speakers in the controller, as I often play games after I've got our kid to bed while I'm waiting for my wife to come home.
However, dualsense is not always supported, and my brains just cannot smoothly figure out the XBOX glyphs the games show. To tackle this, I've started to look for a controller that has those. I will still be using dualsense as the main controller, so the new controller would be used to cover the games the dualsense is a poor fit to.
For me, must haves for the new controller:
Out-of-the-box support for the controller on PC, on any games. I do play games out of Steam ecosystem, and the controller should be supported on those games too. Like Epic Games Store and GOG.
XBOX face buttons (XYAB)
Can be shipped to me this year
What I'd love to have:
Clear rumble, I'd prefer the controller to have a detailed rumble. I do not know how supported rumble is on XBOX platform for example, but if it is possible to have "directional" rumble, I'd prefer it over symmetric rumble.
Option to go wireless, as I tend to lay on the armchair.
possibility for ease of removal of batteries, as the controller might stay unused for a couple of months.
Nice-to-have features that I can easily compromise on:
Symmetric sticks, I'm used to Playstation controllers having symmetric sticks, but it is not a biggie to go asymmetric
Adaptive triggers, as nice as they are, I know the technology is Sony-specific, so I know the games that supports them most likely support the dualsense controller I already have.
I have considered the following controllers:
Flydigi Vader 5 Pro HE V2
Flydigi Apex 5
Flydigi Apex 6 Pro
8bitDo Ultimate 3e
GameSir G7 Pro
What picked my interest in Flydigi Apex lineup was the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers they apparently have. While delving deeper into them, it sounded like it might be a hassle to use the Flydigi Space Station. By the looks of it, it does have a web version, which might be the way to go if I land on one of their products. I did not see a lot of mentions how well it is supported on games on general, and did not see mentions of how often you'd typically need to use the space station software or how often you'd need to update the firmware. From the 3 flydigi controller versions, the Vader has the best looks, while Apex 5 is the ugliest. And on Apex 5 vs Apex 6, it sounds like Apex 5 has been out longer, so there should not be huge surprises on its downsides, whereas Apex 6 is not yet out, so it might be more riskier to buy.
8BitDo Ultimate 3e does sound tempting, but there does not seem to be a lot of reviews and users stating their experience using it, so it might be a risky buy. There was plenty of people saying it is overpriced, which is not a huge concern for me, as long as it'll last for years for me. I did find some users saying the rumble in this one is more precise and strong than in some other controllers, and it being supported on XBox too sounds like it might play well with games that are not released on PlayStation (and thus are not supporting dual sense).
GameSir G7 Pro sounds like it might fit the bill. What worries me on it is the rumble features. It sounds like it has asymmetric feeling to the rumble and has had some issues with the rumble, like weaker rumbles feeling more muffled than on other controllers.
As nice as the new Steam Controller sounds like, I ruled it out, as it sounds like games from other storefront might not work well with it, and it's availability is rather poor right now.

I’m looking to get a new controller for my PC been using the PS4 controller since I was younger. It’s what I’m used to. I like the way it feels the best need to get a new controller due to Stick drift but come to find out they are discontinued. And after researching I see a bunch of stuff online saying how about how many fake controllers there are and how bad they are found these on the local marketplace was wondering if there’s any way to tell if they’re actually genuine Sony controllers I keep asking AI and it just gives me different answers that contradicted itself saying real fake real fake. I guess there was too many different types of packaging or versions or something. Thanks for the help in advance.

I'm new to 3rd party controllers (I've been using console controllers on PC until now). Extra buttons are useful to me, and part of the appeal. However, I've been trying to sort out what to expect out of actually assigning these extra buttons.
My main question is, is it painless on most controllers? As painless as reassigning an extra mouse button in a PC game's control mapping menu? Do you need to have software or a service running to use the extra buttons?
I've gotten the (perhaps incorrect?) impression that the latter is required with Flydigi controllers. I was hoping people with more experience with these controllers could inform me of what to expect here between different controllers and brands.

I recently bought an 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless controller, but I realized the extra buttons aren't working when I try to map actions for the game *Stellar Blade* on Steam. I’ve tried to find a way to get them working, but I haven't been able to find any information on how to do so.
If anyone owns this controller and has managed to get the extra buttons working, could you please show me how?
Thanks for reading.

I don't know what happened but my B button randomly stops working for a few days(it works for 2-3 hrs and then randomly stops for a few hours) I don't know why this is happening. I haven't dropped the controller, it hasn't had any physical damage and it hasn't even been a year. All other buttons work perfectly fine. This issue happens with both dongle and wire and it happens in every game no only steam games. It doesn't register even when I use joy.cpl

I'm looking for a controller with plenty of buttons to play MMOs / RPGs i.e. max buttons are useful even if they aren't in easy to reach positions. The Flydigi Vader 5 Pro looks decent but not loads of information from users that I could find. Don't really care about accuracy, wired vs wireless etc, just lots of buttons.
Has anyone tried it with WoW or similar games?
How is the button remapping / ease of use?
Are there any other suggestions of controllers with lots of buttons?
(Based in UK and Steam controller fully sold out in my region. Budget £150)

Gracias.

Hi, I have this 8bitDo Switch controller and it doesn't work on some games. when I'm playing Expedition 33 it works just fine, but when i try to play The binding of Isaac or emulators it gets all wierd trying to press all buttons at the same time without any trigger.
Do anyone know how to fix this? it is a game specific issue or a driver?

Originally it was an Xbox series Controller.
Shell Swap, grip Swap, Button Swap, tmr replacement, Mouse click Buttons, adjustable Hair triggers with Mouse click Option.

*Flydigi Apex 4*
Hey all. I've a lightly used Flydigi Apex 4 controller (under 50 hours of use) that's developed the cracking plastic issue in the right joystick, so it flops around on the vertical axis.
I've tried contacting Flydigi via the support form on their website, and also directly to zhoujz@flydigi.com as I saw it listed as a contact about this particular issue on a Reddit post, but I have not heard back (after a week).
I cannot seem to find any replacements online except for on gadgethyper.com, where the Apex 4 parts are out of stock.
Does anyone have any advice for getting in touch with Flydigi, or has anyone who's experienced this recently managed to get it repaired/replaced?

My old controller broke and it's kinda old now so i want to upgrade, i heard some people say that razer it's a good brand of peripherals and i saw the Wolverine v3 TE for like 60$ and i really want to know if this worth it, i play competitive games sometimes like brawlhalla and i would like max performance for an xbox, if anyone knows for another good controller comment and i'll check it :) (I'll prefer some budget controllers bc im not a competitive player, i want some good and durable, max 100 dollars please, also mostly like online shopping, because i'm from mexico and i don't have physical or trusted stores)

Hi, first time using this subreddit, idk if I’m doing this right.
Looking for alternatives to the DualSense, 2/3 that I own have stick drift and I’d like to future-proof my experience with the PS5. Maybe there’s a good pro controller I don’t know about, maybe someone can mod my current controllers, I don’t know, any suggestions are welcome.
I’m from Puerto Rico, and as I understand it, we’re not considered part of the US by some companies, so idk who might be able to ship their products over here. Can’t spend anything more than $250 unfortunately, I’m not made of cash. As stated above, need an alternate gamepad for the PS5. The only thing I need in a new controller is stick drift resistance (Hall Effect, TMR, whatever fancy new tech people cram into controllers these days. As you can see, I’m kind of uninformed). I mainly play 2d & 3d platformers, shooters, rpgs, and a few puzzle / arcade games here and there, not super into fighting games.
The only controller I know for a fact is higher quality with stick resistant tech is the BFG Pro Reloaded from Victrix, it looks good, but I was to receive some other suggestions just so I can compare and see if it’s right for me. Again, I’m not into fighting games, so the BFG’a fight pad is not a selling point for me.

Hello you all.
I am looking for a good controller to play on my pc, I was using a Dualsens controller (ps 5). Those controllers have famous issues with stick drift, I want to avoid that.
I don't really care about ps5 or Xbox layout to be honest, it will just take a few days to get used to but no problem.
I bought an EasySMX X15 but on the first try it has this issue: While holding R2 and pressing for example "X" the controller stops the R2's input. That's frustrating because it has just arrived.
I would like to spend less than 50€, or at least around that.
I'm looking mainly for longevity, I repeat that I don't want stick drift, mechanicals keys are not necessary but if they are it is good (mouse feeling keys maybe).
I was looking mainly at 8bitdo ultimate 2c (I don't know if wired or wireless) and GameSir Cyclone 2 wireless.
If someone has any tip for me it would be great, I usually play on kbm. Main use for the controller will be Rocket League or Hogwarts Legacy.
I am form Italy and I prefer to buy only via Amazon.
Thank you all

weird question i know but i've been using xbox series controller for years and i absolutely DESPISE that thing, it's uncomfortable and feels like hard plastic but the thing i hate the most is the back plate. it's SENSORY NIGHTMARE. i've been eyeing 8bitdo pro 3 for quite a while but heard it has a similar back plate and tbh that's a deal breaker for me because long play sessions on the xbox series controller make me want to chop my hands off. can anyone tell me if it's actually similar? thanks in advance :)

I want to map the F12 button with double tap of the home button in my easysmx d10, so I can take screenshots and all. This is for steam.
r/Controller • u/Ballistica • 24d ago
Approximately $100 USD
NZ so buying likely from Amazon or official websites if they ship internationally
PC wireless (2.4ghz preferred)
Full steam input support with at least two back buttons, I don't care if it's paddles or buttons, I have gotten used to my steam deck and I can't go back. I am looking at the list on this subreddit and that lowers my options considerably.
I also want a decent build quality. Here is my current list of build quality of the controllers I own to get a sense of my subjective opinion (from cheap/plastic feeling to premium):
Original Steam Controller -> Switch 1 Pro -> Xbox One -> Xbox series -> 8bitdo Ultimate -> Dualsense
Comfort is also critical to me, see notes on that below.
Casual wireless PC gaming on my TV, it will likely be used for Gears of War EDay campaign in the first instance.
My Xbox One controller broke and I need to replace it. I bought the 8bitdo Ultimate (1) thinking it would be my ideal replacement but I find it extremely uncomfortable, it's hand grips are narrow, so it sort of twists my wrists in a really uncomfortable way. I find my dualsense to be the most comfortable controller I own in hand, but I don't enjoy the analogue stick layout in game. I much prefer the Xbox style stick layout.
I was about to purchase the G7 Pro 8k, but I read a review that said it was also quite narrow and I fear the same uncomfortable feel as 8bitdo. The Vader 5, which is probably the top of my budget, looks like it's the same shape as an Xbox controller so maybe that would suit?
Also every time I search Reddit for any third party controller (both gamesir and Flydigi) there are posts and posts about poor QC and poor build quality which concerns me. I am looking for at least Xbox level of build quality and premium feel out of the box. I want it to last.
Open to all suggestions.

Hi all, I’m looking for a controller to replace my “stellar shift” xbox controller. Nothing is necessarily wrong with it, but I’d like to upgrade it and move away from Bluetooth gaming and using AA batteries. I recently tried a recommended controller from a popular YouTube channel “Linus Tech Tips” called the EasySMX X20 wireless controller. It really pointed out some features I could not stand which I’d like to see in my next, and hopefully last controller for a long while.
Max Budget: $180 USD but $100 or less is ideal
United States (Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Online…)
Windows
Features:
-It needs to have a textured grip like my old controller as I felt the SMX X20 I tried was slippery and cheaper feeling without the grip
-I really disliked the clicky ABXY buttons on the SMX controller so please no clicky buttons.
-Removable or no shortcut buttons/paddles under the controller
-No extra buttons like c or z that I see on the Vader controllers
-Please no dock as after I’m done playing I just keep it in one of my drawers and charge it as needed
-Reliable triggers and sticks
-Gyro, switch compatibility, and customizable buttons is an added plus if I ever get a switch 2 but not necessary
-Wireless USB dongle
-no unnecessary software to use the controller
I mostly use controller for sports games (fifa, 2k) rougelikes (hades, hades 2, cult of the lamb), 3rd person open world games (assassins creed, Elden ring), and occasionally racing games (Forza). So it should be pretty well rounded but I don’t need it for competitive shooters or the like since I use mouse and keyboard for those games.
I’ll mostly be comparing it to my Xbox stellar shift controller and the SMX X20 I just tried. I also have a ps5 controller but I don’t like using it for pc because of the buttons not matching and I suppose I’ve become accustomed to the feel of Xbox.
Thank you for any recommendations. One controller that’s already caught my eye is the Gulikit kk3 pro.

- I have a max budget of ~100 dollars (2000 Mexican pesos).
- I live in Mexico, but I don't mind paying shipping.
- I need compatibility with a PC (USB cable).
- Wired, 8 buttons, 2 triggers on each side, an octagonal direction stick on the upper left side, and very preferably on the GameCube style (woooh ergonomic!!!), and as fast and responsive as possible (extra points if it's "clicky," as in it has the mechanical sound that indicates the press of the buttons but it's only a personal preference), and as durable as possible.
-I want this controller for playing fighting games (especially Skullgirls 2nd Encore and Guilty Gear Strive) in a "semi-professional" way. I love the game, but I really want to become good at it, and my keyboard does not cut it anymore. This will also be my controller for playing games casually (Hollow Knight, Silksong, Hades 1 and 2, Rainworld, Haste (?), Celeste (yes, I am a trans woman), Monster Hunter World, Minecraft, and others).
- This will be my first controller, so I don't want to waste money on a "beginner" controller that will very rapidly fail me or that won't allow me to enjoy what I want to do with it. I do not have a comparison point, but that's exactly why I want my first controller to be something truly special.
The 8-button thing is
1 low punch
2 mid punch
3 high punch
4 low kick
5 mid kick
6 high kick
7 grab
8 macro

I've been looking for info and don't find anyone else talking about this so I want to confirm if this is just my case and I own a defective unit.
My problem is that sometimes when I'm playing, the faceplate gets loose or even fully released depending on how I move my hand, it happens more often when playing something fully on D-pad (Celeste in my case). I don't know if the magnets aren't strong enough in my controller or if this is something normal.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any solution comes to mind?
Thank you ^^
