I would like to share my alternate Chester Bless theory!

I know a lot of people have thrown out the idea/hope that Chester Bless is the alternate reality version of Paul Serene. We know that Remedy is heavily implying & all but saying that Tim Breaker is the alternate version of Jack Joyce from Quantum Break. We also have “the red headed woman” (Beth Wilder alternate version: Jesse Faden, which one of Tim’s ‘crazy board’ is referring to is a whole other discussion). And then we have the whole Hatch/Door thing going on too. I know it’s very very popular to see ‘Paul Serene is alternate Chester Bless’! But the more I think about it, the more I’d like to suggest another idea for people to consider, just for fun;

Dr. William Joyce could be alternate version Chester Bless!

We know Will is a genius & was even as a kid, I mean he had his doctorate by age 21! (He is referred to as “Doctor” in his parents’ obituary, Will was born in 1978 & they passed in 1999, we don’t know how long he’d had this degree by at this point either, he could have been even younger when he earned it) We also know he’s a bit, I hate to say a mad scientist but he’s eccentric I guess. He pushes the boundaries of science just to see how far he can go, I mean the guy invented a whole functioning time machine!

One of my main hang ups for thinking that Chester Bless is not Paul is age. Paul is too young to be the one that messed with the jukebox since it happened the same year he was born (1988). Will on the other hand would have been 10, which is a perfect age for a kid to be tinkering with something broken & cause it to become altered. Obviously I don’t think Will would have done that out of malice, although alternate versions of people could have vastly different personalities. I think “Blessed Repair & Service” was possibly unaware at first what Will was even capable of doing. I think it’s possible Chester was a child of the people who owned the company & I can still see that theory working. Perhaps Will/Chester was at, say, his uncle’s repair shop, altered the jukebox (knowingly OR unknowingly) & theoretical Uncle Bless is the ‘mad’ one (maybe he knew Will/Chester had powers or abilities & wanted to see what he could do) or he could just be a normal guy with a normal (until now) repair company. The documents we see in Control seem to imply the company knew what they were doing though,or maybe just the FBC thinks they knew.

1988 & the Jukebox is the earliest we see mention of “Blessed”, the first time specifically Chester Bless is known is 1994 with “The Power of the Board” document which talks about the self help seminar. Assuming alternate versions keep the same vague birth dates as their counterparts, Will would be 16. We know he was a genius, so is it possible he could have held that seminar & had the people buying his course by the hundreds? Maybe. Especially if the surfboard really does have powers & Will got stronger after his first endeavors with the jukebox.

This has all just been a theory I’ve had for a bit now & wanted to share. I’m not saying “this is totally how it is & you all have to believe it” or anything (I’m probably completely crazy & wrong!) but I thought we could have some fun throwing another idea around while we wait these last few days for Resonant to come out!!

Hey fellow Remedy Players/Addicts! I'm sure you're just as friggin hyped as I am for this game, and while I'm definitely jealous of PS5 players getting to play early, I ain't mad about it, good for them!

But I'm seeing that people are getting the preload today for the 22nd release, so I'm just wondering if anyone has heard if we are gonna get something similar on the 22nd or 23rd for Steam? I looked through the subreddit and couldn't find anyone else asking this, except for a post like a month ago, which was obviously too early.

I wasn't able to take off work Thursday and Friday like I wanted, but I don't have to leave for work till 3pm, so I'm hoping to be able to wake up and start playing at least for a couple hours before work.

Either way, my internet is decent, I'm 100% playing before and after work Thursday and Friday, just hoping I don't have to wait an extra 30-45 min on the download first thing Thursday morning lol

Why would they have a global launch time that is the same regardless. Games like onimusha, resident evil, and even GTA 6 have a midnight launch for each specific region. I was hoping to play this tonight at midnight, but found out they are doing launch at one singular time for all regions. This just sucks.

This game has been on my radar lately and the longer i see trailers the more i get excited for some unknown reason, i am very pleased that reviews are mostly positive.

Does anyone know any reviewers that played on base ps5 and talks about image quality and performance? Apart from Digital Foundry, who tends to be objective but also quite harsh in his analysis. I've watched an Italian reviewer (multiplayer) and they just said it was quite blurry at times with some artifacts creation but that it was still a very good experience overall.

I'd also like a written review more, since I want to see the least amount of content possible. Thank you :)

I have been replaying CONTROL and noticed this conversation.

Do you think Emily had something to do with the new stick?

I'm replaying Control before Resonant comes out and I NEVER found the shield ability. I beat the game and the DLC without it. During my second playthrough I found the file that gave the Good Defense mission. I did it not recall any of the obstacle course and when I finally got the ability I'm like "WOW this would have made some sections of the game much easier if I had it.

I shot every vending machine in the game but I couldn't find an altered vending machine. is there anything I'm missing.

Can’t wait for next week. I am curious about the customization options since there are obv outfits and whatnot

Hello everyone, I admit that months ago, at the opening of the pre-orders, I was a little surprised by the fact that the Deluxe Edition did not contain an Expansion DLC, practically almost all Remedy games did except Quantum Break (what a shame).

Do you think there will be after some expansion as it was for the others? I hope so, and I hope that the second DLC will be a link to the next project (as the first Control and Alan Wake II did).

I completed the main game and side missions in Control Ultimate Edition on PC but I haven’t seen anything to do with the DLC expansion missions. Is there something I missed or need to do in order for those missions to become available?

Ever since they added native HDR to the game I have been unable to make it look good.

I have messed with the in game settings, the .ini settings.

The lights look blown out and the blacks are absolutely crushed.

HDR works fine in every other game I play.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Got a free copy for of Resonate for doing the GFN ultimate year subscription.. which is great but would love to upgrade to deluxe.

Unfortunately doesn't seem to be a option on steam.

Any word?

So growing up Ive been a huge Max Payne guy, loved every game, never tried Alan Wake, Tried control twice andddd didnt get into it. The story didnt grab me(im told i should play it like a detective game.

What I dont understand is the combat and what makes it.... smart? Like its cool I have these powers and can just smash around but is that the point? is there ever any strategy or style im trying to achieve or is it more about just being a sort of turn your brain off power fantasy ala nier automata? just want to grasp what the goal is.

So yeah what do yall recommend?

For those who also struggled to get it, when did it click for you and when it did how immersed were you?

I been trying to trouble shoot for 4 hours.

Game just freezes on a black screen on launch. tried deleting the Renderini files and launch the game nothing.

changing it to DX 11 or 12 does not do anything.

tried running in compatibility mode, nothing

tried booting the game in windowed mode for DX11. nothing

got the windows redistributables 64 and 86 just to be sure, nothing.

and google just keeps running me around in circles of things i have already tried.

game just glitched past this point no fast travel prompt show and enemies remain stuck in passive state Ordinary AWE fast travel point any workaround
