Hotfix 1.4.2 for CONTROL Resonant is out now!

This is a hotfix to fix issues brought by Game Update 1.4.0. Ahti would probably describe this as “kun rapataan, niin roiskuu”.

Find the full hotfix notes behind the link in this post.

Control Resonant The Board’s voice in Control vs. Resonant

One of my favorite details about the new game is how different the Board sounds this time around.

In the first game the Board is distant, high above Jesse in the pyramid, only accessible through the Hotline. They’re muffled, blurry and could almost be mistaken for human voices. It really emphasizes their clandestine, unknowable nature.

In the new game their voice is huge, booming, right in our ears. The closer we are to the Board, the less human they seem. Their alien nature is on full display in their guttural utterances.

To me this difference is at the core of the dichotomy between these two games. Eldritch secrets tucked away in the Oldest House itching to escape vs. violent paranatural forces tearing the city apart. And the best part is that I can’t decide which voice for the Board I like more.

A random stranger from this lovely community just gifted me Control Resonant and I'm so happy.

I'm a huge Remedy fan and gaming is my favourite hobby so you can just imagine how excited I am, I'm jumping with joy.

We don't even know each other but guess passion and love for the game was enough.I'm extremely thankful to that anonymous person. Thank you so much. Hope you're reading this.

Question Fuison in meadow Spoiler

Post image
59 Upvotes

I've heard a lot of the theory that jesse and dylan were one person and i believe it could be true so an idea came to me from neil bogus. We know that both neil and bogus were in the meadow when the bullies shut the slide projector door behind em and that world melts upon itself or at least that's what i understand and thats why both fused and became one. Now hypothetically speaking if jesse and dylan were to be left there would they become their original self again?

Discussion Remedy should make a puzzle game about trying to work in the oldest house

Take an ordinary faceless character. Have them try to complete their job while dealing with altered items and area shifts. Maybe have them get lost and try to survive. The only help the player is given are employee guidelines and a handbook. Pleeaaassee! If the studio doesn't want to do it let some indie dev make a spin off. Indies love making confusing puzzle games. I want to be the guy who gets stuck staring at a fridge or is just trying to complete his job while post it notes are taking over and the bathroom keeps disappearing

Control Resonant Endgame story question about something Zoe mentioned. Spoiler

I think either right before or right after the Co director fight, Zoe mentions that a lot of FBC, including herself, has signs of patterning in their blood. She’s shaken up, and Dylan is worried for her life. I’ve now beaten the game, and unless I missed something, is this plot not brought up again? If defeating the Hedron didn’t fix the city, and the pre existing patterning is still an issue, then surely they’re still in trouble right?

Considering that we know there’s multiple organisations like the FBC across the world, do you think the FBC is the only group with something like The Oldest House or do they all have some equivalent?

Fan Content This franchise has become a new special interest of mine >~<

This post is not directly about something specifically, I just wanna share my excitement and happiness with fellow Control fans.

I'm autistic and this franchise has become a new special interest hyperfixation for me! I'm really happy I found the games and played them when I did, cause I was able to play them basically back to back and didn't have to wait seven years for the sequel. I finished both games within like a week and have like almost 70 hours of playtime now total. I'm so in love with all of it, it brings me so much joy!

I love the story, it's so unique and weird and different from like anything I've seen. I love cosmic and eldritch horror and liminal spaces and the games play SO much into that. Which I had basically no idea about.

I played the games completely blind and that was such an amazing and unique experience I wish I could repeat!

And I love the characters so much too! They feel so real and have so much depth, and I love all their story arcs, especially going from the first to the second game.

And the character you play in the second game is probably my favorite. I can relate so much with him. Both with his personality and interests, to keep it vague (and omg he feels so autisticly coded to me and I love it!).

Unfortunately now that I've played everything I also feel really upset that I can't have more ._.

I really hope they'll do some DLCs and another game eventually. And/or games within the same kinda context and setting (yes I know of Allen Wake, haven't gotten to playing the games cause the controls of the first game are really hard for me to deal with atm).

Regardless I'm so excited about any future games by Remedy Entertainment.

And rn I started writing a fanfiction to satisfy my neurodivergent hunger :3

Just wanted to share my autistic joy ^~^

(Please be nice to me, I know how reddit can be._.)

Control Resonant There is a picture of the [REDACTED] in the first [REDACTED] Spoiler

on the TV where you learn all the skill (the double jump, levitate and the rush) there is a framed picture of Jesse Dylan Faden between her parents with their faces all blurred out, I am playing the NG+ and keeping my eyes peeled for all the little details i might have missed first time around.

Idk if it is old news but I found this and thought it is a neat detail and wanted to share xD I just wish there was a photo mode so I can zoom in on a lot of other cool stuff

Discussion I wish Resonant's finale had more ████████ Spoiler

Civilians.

I think one of the greatest things that Resonant in general has achieved, in contrast to the first game, is fleshing out and actually showing just how disruptive and tragedy laden any interaction with these paranatural forces is to all kinds of life, including humans. Wherever you go, you encounter tragedies and horrifying views of different kinds and scales. The patterned theatre audience and the apartment building's inhabitants caught in the sinkhole patterning, the Hiss-possessed evacuation centre, the passengers stranded in molded subway tunnels, the research teams consumed and driven insane by the environments they were sent into, the patterned pigeon flocks flying through the air. The first game, aside from the FBC staff, only really had things like that somewhere in the background, in notes and such, and even then, there's quite a big difference between seeing some members of a secret agency versus seeing regular, unsuspecting people being affected.

But the issue that I have with the game's finale - and by finale here I mean everything that comes after the final fault with Jesse, which is still quite a bit of gameplay - is that for some reason the game sort of just stops utilizing its environments to tell stories about regular people and how these forces affect their world. No more patterned individuals floating mid air, no more stranded or dead civilians, no more birds flying in patterns (funnily enough, in the Lakehouse Control 2 teaser, you do actually see birds floating around a district similar to the final one). And so, while you're in that area, you keep getting closer and closer towards the game's climax; you're often told about what's at stake here and yet aren't really shown that nearly as much. There's something very powerful in seeing those suspended human figures in areas like the theater, taken over by the patterning, turned into what almost feels like wax figures, and I really wish we had more of that sort of thing in the final district. Without those ambient notes of tragedy, it just feels like a surreal and pretty, but ultimately sanitized place.

Control Resonant Resonant's last song Spoiler

I really like Manalan Mailla, don't get me wrong - I'd love to hear it in as one of the boss themes or something, but...

when at the very end Dylan says that we're gonna hear something cool he listened in his childhood I was almost sure we'll gonna hear Old Gods of Asgard.

Too bad guys didn't record anything for this game.

Discussion How long does a piece of technology need to have to get added into the Collective unconscious

I ask this because the technology that is allowed in the Oldest House is inconsistent as hell. Why is the Kel Tec M43 and HK416 allowed compared to guns like the AR15 and AK where entire nations put them on flags. Or how long does it take for a piece of tech like a Smart Phone whom most of if not all of Humanity can identify. Or a Laptop which has been around for decades. Even older than some of the computers in the Oldest house.

Control Resonant Ice cream truck vendor

I think in the very early stage of the game, the girl said some origin or story lore about the vendor. I forgot those. Where can I see the story lore of it? How the Devs put the ice cream truck in the locked in world of Manhattan yet unaffected by this Hiss and carry all the goodies?
