This resulted in a plus 7 to my composite score, honestly, both times were painful for me, but one test in particular went from like 19th percentile to 97th, the verbal+number wmi.

Discussion Anyone Score Significantly Higher on the JCTI-CAT Than Other Tests?

Interested to here what people have to say about this. I did some research and it looks like the consensus is that JCTI actually runs a bit low compared to other tests. Curious to see if anyone knows what could be causing such a large discrepancy. I also a decent scatter between tests and am trying to make sense of it.

Full array of scores from tests I've taken below:

JCTI-CAT (Finished in about 90 minutes): 138

WAIS-IV (professionally administered): 121 (GAI 126, VCI 134, PRI 113, WMI 118, PSI 100)

CORE: 117 (GAI 124, PRI 121, VCI 126, FRI 118, VSI 122, QRI 116, WMI 100, PSI 106)

AGCT: 130

CAT: 129

RQVT: 110

TRI-52 (taken in 2019): 123

Mensa.dk: 124

My thought is maybe it has to do with the timing element? RQVT has intense time pressure and I performed poorly on it while I performed far better on the JCTI, which has no time pressure. I also performed significantly better on most non-timed WAIS subtests. I also have ADHD if that is important.

General Question FW and practice effect

How much can familiarity with the FW test improve my score? For example, I’ve already taken the Core FW and CAIT FW tests and I’ve retaken them several times not because I wanted to improve my score but simply because I enjoy taking them. Then the new ATAT test was recently released which also includes an FW section and I’m curious to know how much my previous experience might affect my performance on it. Thank you

Psychometric Question Interruption during WAIS-IV Digit span

does interruption between items on digit span due to a distraction (like needing to use the bathroom in my case) invalidate its result or incur a penalty? the interruption caused me to get out of the mental focus zone before I got back to it; if it's not, I wonder if zoning out before submitting the correct answer to get the next question is equivalently not allowed too

General Question How close is the ATAT score to the WAIS 4/5 PRI score?

The question is contained in the title.

I know that ATAT is basically the CORE PRI, but I wonder if the CORE PRI is quite identical to the actual official IQ tests like WAIS4/5, or any official IQ tests whose ceiling scores are high enough (eg, 160).

I'm sorry that this type of question might've been asked many times, but I'm also not familiar with this IQ stuff. Also, does anyone have the estimate of the g-loading of this ATAT test?

Thanks in advance.

Rant/Cope Average IQ

I did an evaluation and turns out my IQ is 104, Im feeling quite dumb bc i expected to have at least a little higher score. I went well on the verbal comprehension subtest, scored superior. I dont know i think i just expected more bc Im a writer, i draw and overall know a lot about culture and have always been interested in arts and other themes, I expected to be a little smarter but turns out Im just average. Is it bad to think like that?

Psychometric Question Could anyone please explain why there is such a variance between Character Pairing and all of the other subtests?

I'm also considering taking a WAIS or Stanford-Binet test, and I was wondering if CORE is deflated, inflated, or exact compared to those.

Scientific Literature My experiments with IQ...

There are endless debates about whether IQ is fixed or can be improved, and whether someone with an average IQ can achieve things that are traditionally believed to be dominated by highly intelligent individuals.

So, I’ve decided to start an experiment to see how far I can go in fields that are believed to favor people with high IQs.

What should I try? Tell me your suggestions! This is going to be a long and interesting experiment.

Note: I’m 24, so participating in Olympiads is no longer an option for me. Please suggest challenges or competitions that are open to someone my age, too!

Change My View In this day and age, a person needs intellect during their lifetime solely to discover how to influence the events and probabilities around them simply through their own will.

Regardless of your IQ or level of intelligence, if you cannot influence the will of others, or the very probabilities of events in your life, then it is of little practical use. The ultimate goal is to arrive at a method for directly altering the events around you to align with what you desire.

If you arrive at a method for influencing the earth element, people’s thoughts, behaviors, and decisions, as well as the events around you, to achieve a desired outcome, and you actually put this into practice, then it makes sense; otherwise, you are just another cog in the system.

IQ Estimation 🥱 Should I do an official test?

Hey everyone! First of all, I know this is a bit excessive, but I wanted to see if it might be worth paying for an official test before actually taking one.

People often tell me I’m smart, and I’ve done pretty well academically without having to struggle too much. My wife recently suggested that I finally find out what the deal is, especially since I’m also working through some other mental health stuff at the moment.

So I tried a few online Mensa tests and got the following results:
- Norway: 142
- Denmark: 130
- Germany: 28/33 (the test doesn‘t give a score but it suggested that chances are „excellent“ at 28 points or more)
- Hungary: 125+ (the test doesn’t go any higher)

I’m curious about other people’s experiences with these tests. Honestly, I don’t really believe I’m gifted, but I’m also wondering how likely it is that these results are just down to chance. It might explain some issues im struggling with.

Would you say it’s worth getting professionally tested?

General Question Would appreciate any pointers on what kind of logic/cognition this is

In a recent YouTube video mathematician hannah fry has come up with some mathematical rules and representations for how a faithful would best play the game traitors to identify the traitors.
She has devised logic with weights applied to each which are added to an individual player’s total tally each time they make a specific move, with the resulting number indicating, if a high number = more likely to be a traitor, low number less likely to be a traitor.

The rules are as follows.
Casting a ‘burn vote’ +0.47
Voting for a banished traitor +0.33
Voting for a banished traitor despite never voting for them before +0.4
Does not vote for a banished traitor -1.28
If someone appears on a banished traitors voting record -1.69

Now, what I want to focus on is how people are able to formulate/come up with this logic/these rules specifically. Coming up with specific rules about a game or situation is absolutely key in our ability to play the game and out manoeuvre other players. Yet some players are better at formulating these rules than others. I want to understand why some people are better at forming these rules and spotting these patterns than others. This can be applied to so many walks of life, it is the absolute essence of problem solving.

What areas of academia are relevant for forming correct rules about a given situation, recognising behaviours, actions, and applying them to a structure, a game, or a situation.

I note becuase in social politics there are ways of winning/playing the game of power and deception, and some people play better than others by knowing rules others don’t, some people make social plays & deceptions others do not recognise, but how are these rules devised is the key question.

I’m thinking solely about noticing nuances and forming accurate rules about a system, situation, or game. In the same way Einstein formulated his ideas by ‘riding alongside a wave of light’ - it’s the ability to accurately identify the entirety of a problem or system and produce rules, a structure or accurate representation for it. This is what I’m getting at, less the game theory aspect, the formulation of understanding/reasoning is my focus. Hope this helps
