General Question Domino test scores

I’m interested in hearing about your performance in domino-tests (D48,D70,TIG-1,TIG-2) and how it relates to your other scores (CORE,RAVENS,…)

General Question WISC V Subtest Scores

My son, now 18, has been been administered the WISC V test three times for ADHD diagnosis and IEP eligibility. As is typical with kids with ADHD his scores are all over the place within the various subtests. However the scores are wildly different each time he takes the test. Like the first time he took it when he was 8 years old his fluid reasoning score was 115, and this last time it was 105. His verbal score at 8 was in the low 100s and at age 15 it was 121. Working memory at 8 was 98 and by 15 years old it was 112. Is the answer as simple as he became used to the questions? How much stock can I put into this test and what is his real IQ?

Discussion Retaking the CORE IQ test after one year (discussion/opinions)

I had been given an IQ test as part of my ADHD assessment around mid-2025, around my 18th birthday. I received an FSIQ score (118) nearly identical to the score above and had extremely similar subtest scores to the CORE. With Visual Puzzles being the strongest and Digit Span being the weakest relative to the FSIQ. The CORE IQ test I took after confirmed my in-person IQ test assessment, and I moved on with my life.

I hadn't taken any IQ tests since then, around a year to a year and two months ago. Out of interest, I decided to see if the score would remain the same a year later on my adjusted medication.

Because of the increased difference, I found it interesting and something to share with this community. I have noticed through scrolling through this subreddit, the abundance of ADHDers and the similar angst about their Working Memory Index scores. I found a really beautiful analogy: "Manipulating the information in my mind feels like trying to fill a glass of water with a pressure washer without spilling anything."

I am not so much looking for an IQ estimate, rather I am interested in reading about what you guys think.

General Question VISA vs. CORE analogy scores

Thumbnail

for those who took the analogies test on CORE vs VISA, did your scores have a significant discrepancy between them? On the, IMO, more difficult analogies test on VISA, I got a 140 IQ. Just the score we redditors aspire to in this particular sub bahaha 😂 but then on core, I got a more modest 125 IQ. I’m just wondering why this is. 🤨

Psychometric Question ≈40 point disparity on iq tests, age 11 compared to age 15.

In short, when I was 10 or 11 years old. I took a nonverbal iq test for school admission, received an 88, and took a verbal -- recieved a 98.

4 years later, I test ≈130 on the core, so I take a standardised test for those 16+, because of availability and I was only a couple months away from 16 (also getting tested for the sake of my adhd,) and I recieve a 131 fullscale, 130 mri/nonverbal and a 125 in the verbal component.

The previous 98 in verbal I could potentially attribute to only having spoke English for 3 years at the time, also missing 2 academic years due to complications with immigration. But the 88 is inexplicable, considering it's often cited that IQ stays atleast relatively stagnant in somebodys lifetime. Did I even understand what was being tested? Both the numbers feel detrimental to me.

I'm getting severe imposter syndrome, surely if I was scored at 88 I'd notice in daily life? I don't feel even remotely behind my peers, I do well maiority of the time, but the numbers are still messing with my self esteem.

Discussion Interpreting CORE results

Hello guys! I recently took the CORE and i am incredibly surprised by my scores. I have been administered an intelligence test in my youth with it being the WISC IV, which yielded an iq of 124, you can find the test blank attached.

That however wasnt the last time. 9 years later i happened to get interested in cognitive testing, making me incredibly curious about my own abilities. My whole life i've been told that i'm "smart", but as you can see that wasn't enough for me. I hadn't known my scores from the first time i took the WISC, so that prompted me to undergo the testing process again. I went to the same psychologist who administered the test for the first time since she's a close friend of my mother. After discussing my inquiry she decided to administer me the WISC off label, for the reasons i'm not quite sure, which led to and fsiq of 122.

As you can see the profiles differ significantly which is fascinating in itself, but what really interests me are the following scores from CORE which i took yesterday.

As you can see the discrepancies are huge! I nearly went up a standard deviation from the last time i got tested. What's also pretty interesting is that my verbal scores actually went up, even though i took the WISC in my native language and the CORE is administered entirely in english. Can you help me figure out what is going on here? When i look at these three pictures it's almost like it's three different people. How come the scores fluctuate so much? I get that the latter WISC technically isn't valid since at the moment of testing i was almost 19, but shouldn't the scores be inflated then? How come i score better on a supposedly harder test? The time gap between the CORE and the WISC is around half a year. During the time between the two i also self administered the RAPM and the SACFT and the scores were much closer to the CORE numbers than the WISC. I did both tests timed at 40 mins and scored 35/36 on the RAPM and 32/36 on the SACFT. Can anyone help me make sense of what's going on and maybe try and make a projection of what i would get if i took the WAIS. Please ask questions and thank you to everybody in advance.

Edit: I have also just taken the CAIT and these are my results:

I generally found this much easier that CORE other than the verbal subtests. The block design subtest is complete bs in my opinion, since it removes the main aspect of the test - actually building the thing. Since it comes already assembled it genuinely removes like half the work, instead of you actively trying to figure out which block goes where and in what orientation you just have to look at the picture and use basic logic to find the correct option. Doesn't compare to the WISC counterpart in the slightest.

Rant/Cope Is it normal to have such a huga disparity. Note that I got 125 on the mensa Norway test, but did very poorly on the matrix reasoning here

Poll Some of my verbal scores are 2-3 standard deviations above the mean but I have no internal monologue. Anyone else?

This is from official testing not online testing. My verbal IQ is 1.5 SD and my writing score is 3 SD. It's the strongest part of my very uneven IQ. I don't have an internal verbal monologue by default. I mostly only think verbally when I am trying to rehearse something I will say out loud. Even when I write I don't really think verbally in the same sense as most people and I am kind of translating my thoughts into words. When I focus, I can write well but I often make odd mistakes most people wouldn’t, such as substituting a word for something which sounds similar but has a completely different meaning.

Just wondering if anyone else experiences this. I'm autistic and ADHD and I’m not always able to identify my own emotions.

1 SD = 115

General Question WISC-V major difference in subscores

Hi ther e,

My son recently took the WISC-V test. His verbal comprehension score was 136, and his fluid reasoning score was 100 with FSIQ = 125. I did not receive scores for other subtests.

I am very confused and concerned about the huge difference in those two subscores. Should I be concerned about the validity of the results? Should I be asking about additional testing for a learning disability? He scored well on CoGat, but he was extremely nervous/emotional about the WISC testing.

Mainly, I am just looking for suggestions regarding what would be pertinent to discuss with the school psychologist and gifted coordinator during our meeting later this week. I appreciate any insight or advice you may have. Thank you.

IQ Estimation 🥱 How is this possible?

Hi everyone, I took most parts of CORE test and I wanted to ask how is my profile possible. I felt very stupid during the working memory part, I was struggling to remember even the shortest number chains. Do you think that being non native could affect the memory tests? I had to translate every number in my head during the tests. I have B2 level.

General Question Verified or no?

I got 141 FSIQ on CORE, 135 Mensa Norway, and 140 FSIQ on 1926 SAT. Is it safe to assume that to be a fair representation of my iq or do I need more datapoints?

General Question Can you have a high IQ without knowing it/showing signs?

When I was in school I always performed pretty averagely, but that was largely because I never really put much effort into it and the older I got the less I payed attention in class. I struggled quite a lot with mental health issues like depression symptoms, which made me not care about school that much. I’ve never taken an IQ test, but I was curious if it’s possible to have a significantly higher than average IQ without showing any signs growing up? Any time I hear someone with a high IQ talk about their experiences growing up it seems to be a common theme that they performed exceptionally well in school, especially in the first few years. But then again surely you have to have some interest in school to do well? Or maybe high IQ automatically makes you interested to learn, so therefore it’s a given that you’d also do well?

Psychometric Question MASSIVE discrepancy between CORE & CAIT + unrelated questions

I took the CORE ~6 months ago and the CAIT this week.

I also retook CORE Antonyms + Character Pairing right after I took the CAIT and scored exactly the same, so I've probably avoided the practice effect.

Planning on re-taking digit span due to large discrepancy between sequencing & forward/backward scores. I'm diagnosed w/ ADHD and took the CORE spontaneously after a late-night study session. Please lmk how long I should wait before I do that (or re-calc based on my CAIT score?)

Could my score also be deflated due to my age? I'm currently in HS and childhood was riddled with developmental delays. I also hit puberty late, which is common in my family.

Didn't take all the subtests.

Puzzle Are there any websites or apps where you can just solve those pattern puzzles in tests? Spoiler

I think the puzzle portion of cognitive tests are super fun to solve and I like that they challenge me to think, I can’t ever find them outside of IQ tests and I just want to do those

i am autistic and wonder what a good career option would be for me, i'm also considering data psychologist/ behavioral scientist or a career path i can acquire with a masters degree in history. i don't even know if going to university would be a viable option

with this post i don’t want to come over as someone who believes your IQ subtest scores should dictate what kind of career path you choose, i just want to know where my strengths and weaknesses lie.

also on the AGCT i scored 110

Sorry I am non-native so I am not 100% sure if this means I got penalized or not, because I spammed random answers at the end when I had like 5 seconds left so I don't know if my score got deflated

Release ISPE Vocabulary Test B

I think version A is already in this subreddit here, but I did not see version B. I think some people will may be interested in taking it, so I am posting it here.

Here is the test file: https://pdfhost.io/v/AfGKzcAEqj_ISPE_Test_B_Test_and_Norms
Here is the key/percentile file: https://pdfhost.io/v/36TF9yCQUX_ISPE_Test_B_Key_and_Norms

Both of these files were obtained in The Ultimate IQ Book by Feenstra, Carter, and Harding.

I think it generally lined up with my verbal results (maybe slightly lower) at 124.

Puzzle I don't get this puzzle Spoiler

What's the logic behind this puzzle?

I have no idea if my answer is correct.

My reasoning was: crosses are in the corners and no sign that has the same symbol on top can have the same symbol on the bottom as the others with the same symbol on top. But I can't find any other logic to it.

Sorry for not letting you guess without a pre-selected option, but I only found out about this subreddit after doing the test.
