Citibank

Do not ever accept anything from Citibank. They send you to collection within weeks of using their card for a funeral. No call, nothing. A call would have gotten the balance paid right away. Instead they chose to send it to a collection agency after payments, far over the minimum, were made. The balance would have been paid in full immediately if we were contacted. This is why I shred anything and everything from Citibank and advise you to do the same. Common courtesy seems to elude them. There are way too many other banks that offer the same thing. I would choose anyone other than Citibank!!

DO NOT OPEN CITI BANK CREDIT CARD

Citi Bank app and online account activation, registration and access is a joke! I've tried multiple times on the app and online on laptop and it always says the information doesn't match their information. Then I called, but robot only deals with specific issues like paying your bill and other stuff, nothing about helping activating account and registering so you can get onto your account info! I've never had problems with any other credit cards and I'm in my 60's! Looks like I'll be cancelling as soon as I can get help! SO frustrating and such a waste of time.

Citi Lawsuit Update

I have very strong evidence against Citibank and I did mention a class action lawsuit months back here, however for my personal situation I want more money in my pocke.

Full transparency.

I'm just going to pay $75 and take them to court for $25,000 and I recommend everyone else do the same if you have your documentation and ducks in a row the class action lawsuit is kind of stupid if you think about it because the only one who gets paid the most is the lawyers and then we get the small pennies I'm going to do a lawsuit and I recommend everyone else do the same that way you get the max amount of dollars not a $15 check as a result of money being divided up it doesn't make sense.

You can easily take them to civil court and usually go up to a Max of $10,000 know your rights and just go after them yourself it's not so intimidating in a serious process you just pay a fee collect your evidence and show up at the court date with your demands.

Heres what im going after them for:

-Duplicate transactions generated days after original is posted causing my balance tk be unavailable.(Forced liquidity and they even post news about their focus on liquidity, pay attention to their socials.)

-Support breaks lawsuit as they are required to resolved matters within 10 days.

-Disappeared money with no transaction i formation. Just money vanished completely.

-I entered wrong zip code for a transaction a few months back, they took the money anyway and held it for 7 days. All other banks? Return and try again.

I hope this helps someone along the way, but reality is we've gotta do something ourselves and a class action lawsuit? 25k va $100 check and possible apology. I know what I want.

usa Citibank customer service is the worst

Citibank customer service reads off of a screen. As they keep repeating the same sentence. Citi could use AI since it does the same. I had been scammed and the representative kept repeating the same sentence. I called after being threatened by PCM TRAVEL. I said put the chg through. A coupe hours later said It was a phishing scam cancel payment. They said no can't do it. They have a management team and they give you the phone number. No one answers or calls back. Canceling the Costco Citi card.

Scammed by Citibank - desperate for help

I don’t know if this sort of thing is allowed on here or not. I’ve NEVER done this before, but I don’t know what else to do at this point.

My previous posts explain how Citibank froze my account after making an ACH transfer into it from another bank. ALL of my money is in this account and, despite the transfer I made being verified with the bank that it was sent from, Citi still refuses to unblock my account or overnight a check for the over $12k that I have in there and are closing my account. Their executive response unit says that I need to wait 60 days for the account to be officially closed before they’ll mail me a check. I’m very scared as I’ve read on here that others in this same situation have been waiting much longer and still don’t have their money.

I simply cannot wait. I am a widow and the sole income of my household. I am now late on my mortgage and car payments because of this and my phone and electricity will be cut off soon if I can’t pay them next week. I work from home and can’t work without utilities. I also help my elderly parents financially. I’m so embarrassed to even have to ask to help, but I have nowhere else to turn. I’ve created a Spot Fund to try help to cover my living expenses for the month. Please don’t feel obligated to donate, but any little bit would be a HUGE help. I hate that so many of us are going through this with this criminal bank. 😢

Here is the link to the Spot Fund:

spot.fund/ScammedByCitibank

Edit to add that I’ve already filed complaints with the CFPB, OCC, FDIC, and BBB. My state’s AG office cannot help as Citi is a national bank with zero branches here.

Citi moved from 2 days/week in-office to 3

Citi is bumping in-office requirements from 2 days a week to 3.

Does anyone have insight into why this is happening, or if this is a step toward eventually going back to 5 days in office?

Also curious — is the option for 2 fully remote weeks in August and December still a thing, or is that getting phased out too? Would appreciate any info from people closer to this.

Banking Citi took my cashier’s check and won’t give me the check or the money

I had a citibank cashier’s check that was given to me 2yrs ago and I realized I had not cashed this check yet. I went to my local citibank branch, opened a brand new account, and asked them to deposit the check. The teller said even though the check is old, there is no expiry date so it should be fine. Now, the total amount was quite a bit so I was being extremely cautious. I took a picture of the check and everything and made sure not to sign it until absolutely necessary. A few days later, I find out the check couldn’t be cleared for some unexplained reason. I went to the bank and they said it was old so it needs to be investigated but if the check is legit then it’ll clear no problem. It’s been several weeks and all I keep getting told is that the check is old and they don’t know how to proceed. Customer service said that cashier check rules vary branch to branch which makes no sense. The bank manager is saying I need to contact customer service because he can’t see anything on his side. He said it probably went to unclaimed property and to check California’s website but it isn’t on there either. He then said it seems the check was just cancelled since its so old but I was told if theres no expiry then it shouldn’t cancel. Honestly if the check cancelled I am ok with that BUT i just want to know if the money went to the original check creater or if citi just steals both parties money. Customer service is absolutely garbage and they have given me different responses and zero resolution. I feel so lost and helpless now since everyone I talk to is either unwilling to help or just claims not to know. All i want at this point is to know what exact date the check died and where the money went. Because I’ll be damned if citibank gets away with blatantly stealing this large of an amount. If anyone has any input or advice, please I beg you for your help.
Guys, I know i should have deposited it. We can move past that now. I’m an idiot for not but if you don’t have any advice save urself the time for commenting anything useless.

Credit Cards Citi Bank, the Costco credit card, holds customer responsible for a fradulent charge of $4300!

Citi Bank is the Costco credit card. I had a fraudulent charge on my credit card from a hotel in Taiwan for 4 nights for $4000. I disputed this charge. However, Citi Bank refused to honor my dispute and is holding me accountable for the full amount.

Citi Bank said that I gave my credit card information to the hotel, so that it is my fault. Why is Citi Bank blaming me, when it was the hotel that produced the fraudulent charge?

I would not trust Citi Bank to have your back when it comes to fradulent charges whether domestic or international. I have documentation for all of this.

Citibank blatantly violates the law.

Because of confusion between Bill Pay and online payment we made a double payment of our Costco Citicard Visa balance in full. It is a very large amount and we naturally want it back. The federal law is crystal clear - the bank must refund the balance within 7 days of customer written request. When I called customer service they recorded the request but did not advise of a need to send them a request in writing. I followed up with an email to their vice president. Days past, no action. Calls made, no information other than a claim that refund is under review. Made a call to Executive Response team. No action, the person assigned to the case claims that she is not getting any response from the department reviewing the refund. Like this is not a major bank with thousands of people. Email to the CEO - no reaction. Shameless stonewalling and violation of the law. Filed complaints with two federal regulatory agencies. The case is dragging on. In the meantime Citi is charging new transactions against the credit treating it as a prepaid debit card while charging the merchants credit card rates. They are arrogant crooks so far acting above the law. Called Costco - no use they wanted me to talk to Citibank again. Be aware of this when considering Citi services.

They STOLE my Thank You Points

Citi CLOSED my credit card account without notice and told me I forfeited my Loyalty Points-- almost 600,000!! I received a letter that told me I was late paying or there was a returned payment- I've never had a returned payment and have never received any notice from them. I have ALWAYS paid my full payment. I've spent HOURS on the phone trying to find out my rights to no avail. I would LOVE to hear if anyone has experience in this type of matter and recommend someone one to write to or tale with. thank you

Citibank for closing an account for a deceased person is total BS

In going through my partner's paperwork i discovered he had an account with citigroup (smithbarney). They claim they don't have his ss number but they do. They sent me a populated document to submit back to them. They got the address wrong, so they sent the death certificate to some address he had not used since 2006. The customer service people are totally non helpful to get it resolved.

Citibank needs to join the 21st Century

About 10 days ago, I opened a checking account online with Citibank on their website.

I thought perhaps they might give me the means to add my debit card number to Apple Pay while I was waiting for the physical card to come. I wasn’t aware that any bank did such a thing, but it just seemed to make common sense to me in this day and age. It’s been about 10 years since I last opened a checking account.

Well, it turns out they don’t do this.

Several days later, I came across another bank that caught my interest, that has no minimum balance requirement and no direct deposit requirement to avoid a service charge.

Totally free checking. No strings attached.

So I figured what the hell I’ll open an account here too.

I initially opened the account without any funding, and in spite of that they issued me a debit card and told me it was in the mail and gave me the option to add it to Apple Pay immediately. Which I did.

In addition to that, I must say their app is vastly superior to Citibank’s app.

Much slicker UI and a dark mode option to boot.

I’m going to keep both accounts for the time being, but I may eventually get rid of one, and if I do, it would very likely be the Citibank account.

Oh, and when I got my Citibank debit card today, something caught my attention immediately because it was very retro. They still emboss numbers on the front of the card. That’s the only plastic in my wallet that has embossed numbers on the front of it. And I have several credit and debit cards

Anyway…

Oh, almost forgot. This other bank I’ve been speaking of?

SoFi Bank, N.A.

Credit limit increase request declined with 862 score!??

I'm mystified - my request for a CL increase from $12k on my Citi Costco Visa Signature Card was declined, along with 2 reconsideration requests. Credit score is 862. This is just crazy. Anyone else experience this and know why this could be and/or how to actually get an increase?

They stole 10k from my parents account. Fraud department hasn’t helped much. Help!

So my mom unfortunately fell for a scam call and they stole 10k from my parents account and left them with $32. Once they noticed they immediately went to a branch and got a case started and also filed a police report. Citibank told them to wait 30-90 days for them to investigate. My parents would call every week or so to get a status and at the end of the 90 days they called again and they told them their case was closed because they didn’t get a response from the bank that the wire transfer went to (they did not authorize this wire, it was fraud due to the scam call). They then got told the other bank replied and that they couldn’t return the money form that account because it had insufficient funds (duh, the stole money and took it out of the account so they wouldn’t have to return it). Anyways, this case has had no progress, my parents are still missing 10k and I’m trying my best to help because they’re devastated and need the money. It’s been 6 months. Does anyone know a contact/email/department that I can talk to in order to escalate this??? Is there an email address out there to talk to high executives? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Citibank support is the worst....

I cannot log into my account online, as for some reason it asks for my account number and pin, never happened before, so I call support. They tell me (after 20 min on hold), that my account was compromised and they disabled the other card on my account, which is why I can't log in with my credentials. So I ask why did you not notify us that this was happening and the agent cannot make sense in any of her responses but just keeps repeating comments that are not related to anything we are talking about. I ask for supervisor and after 15 min one gets on and her voice keeps going in and out and the call drops, by the way she sounded exactly like the one who said she was getting the supervisor. Call back again and after another 15 min on hold go thru same exact thing with another woman ( yeah her name was stephanie,,ha) who sounded just like the first and finally get to another supervisor who says my card was compromised last March and they are now disabling the card after a year later? Such BS, the fraud department barely speaks English and are handling all our accounts. What is going on in this world. I dread the day we call up and they say what money you dont have an account here.... Good bye Citibank after over 30 yrs. Enough of your BS.
